Would you buy official bootlegs of all the live shows?

If you're a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers you'll know that the band have been releasing every gig they perform in their current tour on MP3, FLAC and ALAC (CD quality) for about the same price as an standard album each.

Would you be interesting in Muse doing the same thing? Would you pay for a recording of the show you went to? Or do you think Muse should make them available for free?

I'm honestly surprised they haven't done it yet.

Sounds like a great idea to me, might not be able to be done for festivals though because they've said they sometimes have difficulty getting the rights to it. That might just be for footage though.

Shame I might not be going on the next tour though so it'd be mostly useless to me unless there were some outstanding gigs that I wanted to listen to even though I hadn't been to them. It'd pretty much put MuseBootlegs out of future business though.

I would buy, yes.

If they did like RHCP, would that mean that fan-made DVDs would no longer be allowed?

They never have been allowed, simply tolerated.

They probably would still be though, since they're composed of fan recordings and are mixed and mastered by fans.

I think at £60 a ticket, they're already getting their moneys worth from fans.
They should be free to all who attended the gig, and maybe a small fee for those who didn't. Not the price of an album though

That's a good way to balance it, I think, if a system could be worked out.

coldplay did a nice thing a couple years back and made a cd of various songs from the tour performed live and handed them out to people who attended the gigs.

i really appreciated that since i was too high to remember the concert when it happened

I think I speak for all the people over at MuseBootlegs when I say "HELL YES".

They would need to be in lossless quality.

And the price of an album PER gig is a tad much, especially if it's a digital album.

Yeah I agree. A download code with every ticket would be good.

Yes, only if they were lossless and reasonably priced ($5-10). Just put the songs on a flash drive and sell them at the shows.

Nice to see you starting this, Niall!
I was dubbing between answer 1 and 2, but then I realised that I'm not that much of an audiophile so as long as the recording is a clear one on MP3, I would still love it. (And then my back-wards iPhone could at least play it)

Again, good effort and I'm strongly supporting this. Keep us updated!

I think the problem with that is that it means people who didn't go will only get to hear it if it's shared illegally or if they pay an extortionate price on eBay for the flash drive rather than a reasonable price from the Muse store.
