If that's about not caring if Matt hits some odd notes, then I guess you're not a big fan of Muse live?

Not to the extent that Kurt was with his guitar though, which was the point I was making. Kurt would purposefully play badly simply because that was his attitude and the sound that Nirvana was known for - Matt doesn't purposefully sing badly, if he sounds bad it's usually because he's finding it hard, having an off day or not using proper technique for whatever reason.
Again, I'm only referring to Kurt so much because someone brought it up - I realise the two don't really have much relevance.

I agree. The early stuff was pretty sloppy, but in a cool "I don't give a fuck" way. I think now he's trying NOT to be sloppy, but can't really pull off taking it seriously, if that makes any sense. He needs to stop giving a shit and just let go.

That sounds better than it is though, since he's trying to be sloppy by not doing anything hard.

He'll fuck up his voice if he sang them every night.
Plus his voice was terrible after recording The Resistance. |

So, he must care about sounding good, but his method of "accomplishing" that is to not do anything hard (wimping out on high chest notes and replacing them with falsetto) -- which of course makes him NOT sound good, and makes it look like he's lazy more than he cares. More Execution Commentary!!

He didn't say anything about you not being a good fan, just not a big fan of Muse live.

From your posts it seems as you don't agree that it doesn't matter if Matt hits some off notes here and there, as long as he tries. And then my question is, if you don't agree that it's okay for Matt to hit off notes, then you can't be a very big fan of Muse live. Because Matt is quite off on a lot of occasions, especially during the early years. |

People complain because of that, because he plays it safe by doing something he knows it's not going to sound bad, it's ok, but imagine the opposite, that he doesn't give a shit and goes for those hard notes every night, failing most of the time. Are you sure people wouldn't be complaining about it? Do you really think that people would be like "give him some slack, at least he is trying"?... I've been on this board quite some time to know that wouldn't happen ![]() Not sure if I made my point clearer now
