Whilst it gives me a slightly hollow feeling inside to see guitars like that get thrown around, it does really add to the energy of a gig...

I don't care as long as the guitar lives. It adds energy and power to the gig, even when it's overly planned and not just Matt in the heat of the moment.

The Manson's are pretty tough anyway considering what Glitterati lasted through.

How embarrasing for it. Went through the drumkit tons of times with barely a mark, smashed into the pyramid stage roof several times, only out for a week or two at most...then gets killed by a bit of cloth.

It can bounce back and smack him in the face as punishment for trying to smash it.

A rubber guitar would not work very well because unliked woods typically used for building guitars such as Mahogany, Ash, Alder, rubber does not possess very good tonal qualities that the aforementioned do. For example, Alder produces a broad spectrum of tones while Mahogany produces a more beefy low mids sound.

Another reason is because the neck needs a lot of support and strength due to the tension placed upon it from the strings that rubber simply would not provide, whereas standard guitar necks use a hardwood such as maple with a metal truss rod that is used to strengthen and correct any bow in the neck

The Guiness Book of Records has Matt's name as someone who broke the most guitars in one year. Those guitars were cheap. I think now he throws a guitar when he is not very pleased with something, like if something is not working properly. In Kiev once he practically threw the broken amp into the crowd.

Lately it's just been some guitar throws, which are part of the show and not really due to feeling bad about the performance.

That record is for the Absolution Tour, and guitars were not so cheap, since he already had some Manson ones
