If you want a modded Marshall type amp, check out Dave Friedman...nothing comes close in my opinion.

I have two of his modded amps. Might make some clips later if you're interested.
Yeah, I haven't really decided. Probably not in the market for any sort of Marshall clone for a while, first I'd want a VH4 and like I said I'm pretty content for now

Blues is more about the way you play rather than specific equipment or a specific sound. Obviously there's more specific genres within that, but you get the idea.

Jack White's sound is very much Garage Blues influenced, The Sonics are a perfect example of the sub-genre:

But still, have a listen to Son House doing Death Letter Blues, then have a listen to The White Stripes doing it, both are still Blues, but one plays it solo on an acoustic and the other drums, electric guitars and fuzz boxes.

Blues is not solely slide guitar either.

(Sorry, my college years involved playing in a Garage Blues-esque band and hanging around in clubs drinking 50p shots listening to the stuff, plus old reggae instead of the indie shite next door with crazy drug-addicts much older than me)

Blues is surprisingly diverse with loads of different sub-genres within it. Youll find you can make a lot of pieces of music sounds bluesy simply by the way you play it.

One of the reasons it remains my favourite genre of music is the way it can be so expressive, but remain so simple.

Saw Steve live at Newcastle City Hall last year. Great performance by the whole band, and the venue was small enough for it to be a really enjoyable night. The man has good stories.

Haze they're both awesome bands that are relevant to my interests. Cheers for that.

I knew blues wasn't quite right, but sortof on track. I like that old vintagey style, but i'm not sure who to look for to find more similar bands. If you know any others, a pm would be sweet/much appreciated.

Nah, Blues is the basis of everything that involves a guitar in popular music. It's quite scary to think the bands that gave us Punk and Metal listened to various types of Blues and stuck a fuzz box on it.

Check out Son House, Muddy Waters, Screamin' Jay Hawkins (I Put a Spell on You in particular), Elmore James. But above all John Lee Hooker, a big influence on me, his music is really fantastic, and not just the popular ones, check out 'It Serves Me Right to Suffer' and 'The Waterfront', two of my favourite songs.

Oh and The Black Keys! Great modern take on classic blues, and similar in style to The White Stripes so you cant go wrong

Isn't that Northern Soul? Still awesome though.

John Lee Hooker is my favourite Bluesman of all time though.

Oh and the first Captain Beefheart album, Safe As Milk. Psychedelic Blues, oh fucking yeah!

Im not 100% sure, but I think Northern Soul was more of a movement/style than a particular artist. Screamin' Jay Hawkins is the artist

EDIT: Just understood what you meant I just always think of that as blues because its on a blues CD I have, but yeah regardless its still a great song

+1 for John Lee Hooker

Ah, feels so good to be back on my laptop where everything isn't blocked. Some stuff still is (I can't access a few of the other sub forums for example), but fortunately KnT seems to work most of the time. Sorry for the chaos yesterday!

Now that would complete me.
Don't get the Eastwood Airline, it's not made of Res-O-Glass. Won't Jack White quite the same

I noticed you can actually buy Res-O-Glas bodies and kits. Ive seen a few on ebay, not sure about necks though.

Should Jack White better.

Indeed. It's actually just fiberglass--best-kept secret of the 1960s

Edit: Alhough I must say, the new ones are probably better guitars...but that's what makes the vintage ones so special
