Just so you can see what I'm talking about in that I will be able to see into them a little bit. I think you're right though. DL-1 silver paint is probably the way to go on these I think.

Paint is definitely the way to go! I'm not sure they could even do aluminum in there, and if they did they'd charge a fortune in labor fees!

I never really planned on doing it in the back, because it would be next to impossible, so I was always going to do the paint there, to be honest. It was only the front when I realised that there was that bit of a gap at the back of the cavity. But I suppose Mansons might not make it that big, so paints definitely the most practical option I think. I was just curious how close the paint was to the aluminium. Looks fine on the Ali-Top though, and you say that they've blended the paint specially for the DL-1 to be extra close, so if I can get them to use that, then that should look perfect.

Yes, the back and sides are painted, and that is a slightly swirled ali-top and backplates.
