I have no idea what's around. I've been listening to CDs and my iPod rather than the radio, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

Hmmm, maybe I should have gone and voted for Folk Insomnia by Darren Hanlon anyway.

It's the favourite SONG of the year, not the favourite artist.

If one band has, say, 9 songs in the running though then obviously the votes will be more spread out than a band that has 2. Which means weird results.
And it's not strictly every single song released in the year anyway. I don't know how they compile the list but it's all over the place.

As am I. The only new music I've heard this year is Magic Fountain by Art Vs. Science, and the lovely variety of music on Power FM, which is always playing in the house bathrooms, and outside peoples windows

You sometimes get songs nominated 2 years in a row too. I remember Thank You (For Loving Me At My Worst) by The Whitlams making the countdown twice, and Knights of Cydonia was actually nominated (but didn't make the countdown) in the year that BHAR was released, before topping the countdown the next year.
