So I'm working on my bass again now that I have some money. I didn't solve the glue angle so I re routed the body work underneath just a bit to make it pretty much close enough. What a save
 The headstock might need a spalted veneer. Sadly the only off cuts I had for the headstock are darker than the centre. Obviously won't remain this shape. It'll be much smaller. Think Ibanez ergo bass sized.

just ordered a neck from hooglebug
 so that leaves the body the only thing original, and I got that guitar less than a month ago. hopefully it's not made out of cheap wood though and hopefully zooropa won't have any bad news about my guitar after running it through the plek...

  Plek plek plek. Frets weren't in terrible shape, much better than most, but there was a big enough dip between frets 6-10 that gave the illusion of more relief than it had. Putting more relief would have affected the other areas where the frets weren't that bad. Went with a fret level, she's going to play flawlessly.

Basically just a full restoration. I didn't get a chance to fully try it out, but it felt vintage as fuck. Itty bitty frets. It was in bad shape setup wise, I'll get a full run through when it's done

it'll play like shit whatevers done to it unless its resetting the neck at the right angle. les paul designed the trapeze bridge/tailpiece and gibson designed the guitar and seemingly they forgot to talk to each other. they made the neck angle too shallow so they had to run the strings under the bridge instead of over the top of it like it was designed to do.

That's exactly what was going on. Strings a mile high. I didn't want to play it until it was finished. I'm interested in how a restoration (refret etc) changes the value. I'd keep it and make it as player friendly as possible
