excellent choice. if youre interested in aussie guitars, you should check out cole clark. among the best guitars ive ever played (the acoustics are easily number 1).

Thanks - I was considering a maton acoustic as well (pretty much given up with american made stuff - either too expensive or....gibson), but I'll look into these.

Any ones in particular I should check out?

the FL1 series is great, and really not too expensive for what they are (iirc about 1000-1200 aussie.. which would be 800- 1000 US, give or take?). theyve got nice big bodies, so a huge, deep sound. lovely

oh hell yes.... what did that silver switch do? i remember hearing no difference in sound!

anyway, its a lesson to the world, NEVER make a guitar out of MDF, Cheap pickups, and crppy bridge.

This now brings me on the the bridge, wanna know why i sold it for £20?

Because you CANNOT (even with 5 springs) hold the tremolo bar steady when tuning strings, (and no, i didn't tune an octave too high) so the tremolo was 90 degrees off of where it should be oh well...

at least Bellorz would appreciate it

no problem

The place I bought the bb1200 from doesn't have the fl1, but they do have the fl2. are you familiar with those by any chance?

can't wait to get the maton. i was originally going to set it up for C standard, but i've decided not to...there's the bb1200jh for that

nah the next thing i'm looking into is one of those acoustics.

ive played a lefty fl2 upside down, if that helps . the neck felt pretty similar - i think most of the difference is in the detail (hardware, inlays, binding, etc), but dont quote me on that

ahh neither of them have a pickup from the looks of things (would prefer it to have one)

the FL3 has one, just that's a fair bit more....but not much more than the maton acoustic i was looking at

each 'number' has 3 different models: the normal one, one with a pickup, and one with a pickup and cutaway. if youre after an FL1 with a pickup, look for "FL1A" (or add a C on the end for a cutaway)
