I always liked the Boss phasers. I don't have an independant phaser as I use my multi effects for modulation (or EHX worm)

I do have a small stone but don't use it as it's a little noisey.

My old one isn't noisy , it just makes a loud pop noise when turned on for the first couple of times and doesn't have an LED but that's kind of charming about those old pedals, isn't it?

But after my april's paycheck I'm going to buy some MIDI switching bitch...Any recommendations ??? I want it to switch 7 effects (2-3 in the amp's FX loop), AMP channel (for me that's tremolo/reverb), also AB/Y thingy would be handy and I need about 50 presets (8 is not enough)...So it doesn't necessarily have to be MIDI - for example this thing MOEN GEC9 - http://www.moenfx.com/gec9.html - does it all but it doesn't have midi and I think I'm going to buy some MIDI delay rack unit because I need to change settings on my delays before every song and it would be great to have a switcher that could also switch between delay presets...But that's kind of far away...Also the G-Lab products are great. And the cheaper the better, I can't afford Skrydsdrup, Soundscuptures or Gizmos, although they look great...Does anyone have any experience ?

This is a great website btw. : http://www.loopersparadise.de/

I've got a tremolo on my AC30 and I am using it just in one song so far, so I can't help you much there.
My problem there is that I like having my phaser and tremolo at the end of the chain (after the delay basically), whereas my things like the fuzz factory and so on are near the start. I suppose when I get my new amp, I could test it more with the distortion on that so it would be before that. Although I'm not sure if they'd sound better in the effects loop? The phaser does cause a bit of a volume sweep as well as a phase sweep (whether that's natural or because of how my sound is EQ'd I don't know...But food for thought anyway...

So great to see you also have the Memory Man - EHX Forever! I'd say that every player has 2 or 3 most important effects that make his/her sound and other effects are just for few songs - the Edge has delays, Jack White has fuzz/octaver, Cobain had distortion/chorus and I for example have fuzz/delay - and I'm using other things like hall/flerb reverbs, phaser, tremolo just for few songs...
That's a very very good point though...It might just be a case that they're rare extras for me and not a core part of my sound, which is probably accurate. I'll give that some thought too, thanks.

Volume swelling is there because you have it after dirt boxes...Of course there's no 'correct' FX order but the general agreement I always find is dirt-modulation-delay and reverbs with the exception of a phaser that can be before or after dirt with other mod stuff. Octave stuff is more complicated and for example I like having my wah (Morley) after distortion but the dirt-mod-delay is right I think...So really - try it before all the dirt boxes - magic... :-)

FX loop for a phaser is a really funny idea (I'll try it tonight), but tremolo should be there I think...

Not sure where else to post this but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a guitar with a finish like this:

Sorry, there wasn't a smaller version of it. I've been searching for a while now and haven't been able to find anything, cheers if you can.

I think there was a Willy Wonka model going around a few years back.

Hello kittentabbers

Basically, me and my band are going to be starting to gig pretty soon and I need some sort of pedalboard. I play a tele custom ii through a Line 6 Spider and that's all dandy. I just need a quick list of pedals that you would recommend and obviously aren't out of a 15 year old's price range.
We play Muse, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Biffy Clyro, so a good fuzz/distortion is a must, a delay would be good too, everything else would just be cool to have/possibly useful

Thanks.

Big Muff has a wonderful fuzz/distortion for it's price. Digitech Whammy is pretty essential for Muse/Radiohead. Apart from that I'm not sure I can personally recommend anything as I don't have many myself.

I'd say get a phaser, delay pedal, tuner (obviously) and a wah pedal.

What are some good headphones I can use for recording?

I have these sony headphones at the moment. They've worked well, but I've dropped them so many times that they're not working properly anymore the wire going up the side is also a bit mangled.

I've also got some sennheiser headphones somewhere... I think these

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HD280Pro/

Not sure what would be best. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "recording"?

What is good for tracking and good for mixing are two different things, so different types of headphones are required.

I would agree with Haze. I was recommended "superlux" by some cool fiend on here (DPTP maybe?) and they're actually really good and very cheap.

But yeh, I try not to mix on headphones as I tend to fuck it up. There is this new unit (maybe Presonus) which is supposed to simulate a fairly dry room on the headphone output, so that you get that slight amount of R in your left ear etc - to compensate for the fact that you shoved your studio monitors right next to each ear and you're not going to get a true stereo image.

doesn't the line 6 thing have a load of built in effects? I'm sure the distortion is shit but if you can get an expression pedal for it it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than a whammy, it might have a tuner built in etc...

I have a Korg CA-30 that I don't need if either of you want it? I saw that they were using one at Mansons on Friday if that gains it some mojo?

I also have an MA-30 metronome that I've never used come to think of it, so both are available if you have use for them. PM or something if you like.
