It was the FJA Mods overdrive (http://www.fjamods.com/), very nice little pedal. Really restored my faith in tuberscreamerlike pedals.

yea, thanks that'd be great,

i'm currently looking at Maxon's slightly modded takes on reissues of the 808.

This,this,or even GMD's Luther drive.

I dont know... I mean, its almost like every other pedal is a TS clone, but all i'm after is maybe a little less gain overall, with a bit more bass.

hey does anyone know if the Digitech Whammy/Wah xp100 works the same as a standard Digitech Whammy? also is the midi the same (so will an xy pad work with it?)

The XP100 doesn't have MIDI, only the WH4 does.

Also, it has slightly different options for harmonies and a couple of different pitchshifting options, as well as the wah stuff.

Bad Monkey is good. Although it works best is the amp is very slightly overdriven, it doesn't drive a clean amp sound very well at all, just a slight crunch. When it's slightly overdriven you can get the sound of a nice tube overdrive.

for a bad monkey check out Silent Fly's mod.

The XP-100 has some great chorus sounds, and some cool envelope followers too.

get the xp 100 modded to be an xp 1000.

I did buy it with that in mind. You have to swap a chip and stuff which makes me nervous, and it's such an integral part of my sound now I don't want to risk it. If I buy another i'll do it.
