I prefer it with the text. With the brain by itself it's almost jarring, the text seems to balance it out very well.

That's just it though. With text, it boring. Without text, it's intersting.

For example, the album Led Zeppelin IV has no text on it at all marking it as a Zeppelin album. Yet people bought it on impulse because of the "this looks interesting" factor (and the poer of the radio playing "Stairway To Heaven"). The same can also be said for Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. No text on the cover, yet it's one of the best selling albums of all time.

I know times are different now, but I think the mystery of "what is this? this looks cool" still remains and that people are still willing to take the gamble of buying that album without a name on the cover.

Well, like the HMV article said, the general public don't really buy that many albums when they go into a shop nowadays, so it's even less likely that they'll buy one if they don't know what it's called/who it's by. Muse/Warner will want to get as many people to buy the album as they can. It may come down to the album title/logo being on a sticker, like with Absolution and BH&R.

Personally, I like the Muse logo being on there. The look of the album title bugs me a bit though.

I think that would be bad, since I'm one of the people who actually go into the store and buy albums by bands they like I wouldnt even care about that album if theres no band name there. I usally dont have that much money to buy a random album when I dont know what it is. But they would put a Sticker on it in a Store anyway so .o.

Resistance wasn't irrelevant, I don't think it was even particularly cryptic. Most people who know what exogenesis is were able to get it pretty quickly. It was just hideous.

To the other guy, remember, we know what the 2nd Law refers to, but we don't know what the major themes of the record are going to be, so at this point it's not worth working out whether it is irrelevant.

And sometimes something that is aesthetically nice is good enough.

I said before that I usually don't like it when text is plastered on top of an artwork, but actually the text for T2L is prett tastefully done.
