Don't choose, get both. They're both amazing and get Showbiz and Hullabaloo while you're at it

I once voted Absolution the best, purely because it has more tracks than OoS, other than that there's no reason to choose between them.

For me it was their pop stuff from The Resistance and Black Holes and Revelations that got me into Muse at first like Uprising, Starlight and Resistance. I don't know if that helps or not, though

I'd honestly say Black Holes and Revelations is the easiest to get into at first, it was to me at least. Apart from that, I can see Absolution working very well as a first album.
Hope that helps

My first was Origin. I usually suggest that or Absolution. Either or will do!

It honestly depends on the type of music the person likes. My first was Origin and I loved it, but some people might be scared of it. If they're a fan of more pop-ish music, go for Black Holes or Resistance. If they will appreciate the weirdness, start with Origin, then go to Absolution, then the others.

Absolution was my first, and in general I'd say it's easier to get into than OoS. And yeah, it really depends on the person…one of my friends asked me what about the band I loved so much…I played a bit from every album and in the end the only song he liked right away was IBTY. He didn't start liking Muse until I showed him their music videos.

I remember a friend said to try Muse (he always directed me to music which was really good).

Anyway, went to Muse's myspace, starlight was first track there. Listened, and just thought, 'wow'. So, I went through iTunes listening to their tracks. Loved their more poppy stuff more, but surprisingly found the more 'abstract' songs very good to. Also discovered I had heard a few of their tracks over the years (time is running out, plug in baby etc.). Was really nice to discover Muse

Anyway, Black Holes & Revelations is my first and foremost favourite album, which I recommend for freshers. Love basically every track on it, and sort of heard most of its tracks first.

I'd have to say Black Holes and Revelations. If you play them Showbiz, they might seem low-quality and angsty, even emo at a first impression. If you play them Origin, they might seem thrashy and high at a first impression. If you play them Absolution, they might just seem weird and/or boring at a first impression, Skipping ahead to if you play them The Resistance, they might seem a bit cheesy or unoriginal. However I think The Resistance and BH&R are very close. The reason I think BH&R is because it's friendly to pretty much anyone who comes from a different genre, and all the music is attractive.

There's nothing weird or boring about Absolution, even on the first listen.
