Hmm Westfields aren't bad for a first guitar but definitely not the best option, the best beginner guitar is easily the Yamaha Pacifica.

Anyother suggestions

Id say the Yamaha Pacificas the best choice, but if you can't get that, you could always get a Squire,

My Squire Strat is still going strong after a good few years and after a few upgrades here and there It challenges my Fender's.

A squire is always a good bet as mentioned.

Also this is your first electric guitar, but is it your first ever guitar? If so, I highly recommend buying a right handed model. I am left handed myself, but most of the world is righty, if you learn from day 1 to play righty it comes just as natural as if you were to learn lefty.

All personal preference of course, but it is nice to be able to pick up anyone's guitar and be able to play. Same goes for drumming, learn righty, not lefty, or at least learn open hand grip so you can play lefty on a righty kit.

That's just my advice, I am sure many will rightfully disagree.

Get a Yamaha Pacifica. They are serious cool guitars. I had a go on one at a guitar shop and it wasn't too much of a departure from my 400 odd quid Godin.

I have been playing an acoustic guitar for nearly 2 years. Been chatting to my teacher and he says Westfields are for beginners and built to attract them. My playing ability now should warrant a better quality electric guitar.

if you've been playing acoustic guitar for 2 years your gonna be sticking to playing guitar its not like its your 1st ever guitar and you don't know if your gonna be playing more than a few months. It might be a better investment in the long run to buy a better quality guitar now can get great quality guitars for under 300 for example all of these below are excellent guitars and will be better in the long run.

I learned right just so i could play other peoples guitars, same with drums. Its just as easy if its day 1.
