Is it about the same price to get your own guitar built?

Fair enough, you could say Strats, etc. have certain signature players but you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it most of the time. I'd definitely be getting something custom built for that cash.

the mb-1 is expensive for what it is in my opinion

it really depends on the options i guess..my tele was 2300 iirc, but i ended up paying closer to 1900 because of the VAT thing. That guitar wasn't REALLY a custom, though...so I'd expect a custom one to be more like 2500 at least (I think the m1d1 was 2800 or something like that, but that's with the x-y pad, sustainer, etc)

Hand assembled - just like standard fenders for example

Popped down Mansons on saturday, saw a colour sample of the Red Guitar, looks very nice, Good strong colour with not too much glitter, can't wait 'till it turns up

I really like the red one. I would also be interested to see what the xy pad could do, though I have no idea how one would operate it.

In any case, if I had the money I might buy it, but I don't, so no.

see, its this little square thing, with essentially an X and Y axis...

you touch the pad, and move along the X and Y axis to alter parameters controlled by those axis'

that easy

But dont you have to hook it up to a different machine to get it to do anything? I wouldn't know what to do with that, I suck at this kind of stuff .
