If they sought permission and were granted it then it's fine as long as they acknowledge the original composer & pay royalties I think.

if the piece is before the 60's you wouldn't have to pay so I think Muse would have to pay royalties(not 100% on this)

Honestly they're not that similar. Just really reminded me of it.Metallica has Ecstasy of Gold on their DVDs I think. I know they play it like Muse does with MWaH.

You also need to take into account that Muse is on Warner and surely that comes with some benefits legally speaking.

The beginning part, fair enough but the strings and the box throwing really changes it up. I think the part that is nearly identical is when it turns into The Lonely Shepard rather than L'Arena.
