I think most people should hear it, it's quite prominent and high in the mix. It's crystal clear at the end after all the other instruments have died down and the piano carries on for a few seconds.

Interesting, I've never noticed it before the very end of the track. I've always thought it was sampled from another source.

I suppose it depends upon your speaker settings, i have my bass down quite a bit so the piano is quite clear. I imagine if you have a bass boost or something similar, it would completely hide the piano ( similar to the synthesizers in CE and Micro Cuts)

Musewiki says
As of January 2010, Howard revealed on TripleJ radio, Australia, he'd like to play the song live again, however, due to Bellamy losing the required (rare) effects pedal for part of the song, it's been left out of rotation so far.

Someone should find this pedal and mail it to them. ^_^

Also- Hey You Crazy Kids is the best thing ever.
Tried to recreate the pedal sound

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxb...ew?usp=sharing

Essentially there's 2 extra notes (I'm only playing 1 note at a time but the pedal generates 2 other notes)

One of the extra notes is simply the same note but 12 half steps up (1 octave up)

The other extra note is 3 half steps above the original note

Essentially this makes it sound like a chord (which is what the lost pedal does, it has a set of harmonies)

I'm using a Zoom G3X pedal with the "pitch shift" effect.

Here's the interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_RuEP_ktOQ

They talk about it at 6:04 in the video.

I guess they somehow obtained the pedal last year.

Nah they didn't obtain it, if you look at his left hand finger positions in the 2015 gig he's playing the chord version and not the single note version

1999 Muscle Museum: https://youtu.be/FHpiSthac-w?t=19

2001 Muscle Museum: https://youtu.be/DwkCE4riVhk?t=34

You can notice the positioning of his fingers is different. In the 1999 video, he's just muting all of the other strings with his second, third, and fourth and only playing the G string with the first finger. In the 2001 video, he's actually playing a chord vs playing only one string in the 1999 video.
I'm pretty sure he lost the pedal at the end of 2000, since any gigs after the year 2000 don't use the pedal for Muscle Museum (meaning that it's not required for the song since he's still played gigs without it)

I think the pitch shifting pedal was just an excuse not to play the song because he didn't want to play it to be honest.

Always thought the pedal story was bullshit because Bellamy simply used the Digitech Whammy's harmonizer setting (+1) during the Absolution tour for it. And he's always had a Whammy, so yeah.

Think it goes like this

Showbiz tour: Whammy harmonizer set at minor third/major third up setting (4 half steps up for the 14th fret notes and 3 half steps for everything else)

Origin of Symmetry tour: No pitch shifting effects at all/1 octave up on whammy

Any other tour: Whammy set an octave up
