Yeah but I feel like you misunderstand what he said. Matt never actually said it was the best song or one of their favourites, he said “we thought it was the best when we went into the studio but changed our minds after hearing the recorded version” basically.

I always assumed it was about Eternally Missed because they really never played that one again whereas Fury has made several appearances throughout the years. As far as I know Matt has never said a bad thing about Fury, in fact, he lamented the fact that TSP ended up on the album instead of it.

EDIT: Musewiki confirms:

"In the Making of Absolution documentary, Matt talks about how by the time they got to recording Absolution, they felt Eternally Missed was one of their best songs. However, after recording the album, Matt said he did not think it would even become a b-side."
Oh ok, gotcha. I just remembered Matt saying in some interviews that he thought Fury was the best song they'd ever written but Chris and Dom voted for The Small Print to make the album instead.

I see. Sorry if I misunderstood.

What does "hero vocal" actually mean? The effects on it? Or vocal stylistics?

It's just a nickname people gave to the overdramatic style Matt was really fond of during that period.

To give some examples of Bliss without falsetto (but with an added, shorter falsetto a bit later to make up for it most of the time):

Huh, messy. Would be a bit quick to jump on a witch hunt for Elle though imo. If Tom says there was just a mistake w/ the seating, I imagine she may well have reserved that seat privately earlier on with no idea who was or would be sitting there. She might not have even known after the fact. That said, it obvs should’ve been reported back to her that those seats were taken by disabled people and that something else would have to be arranged. I can understand being in the heat of setting up an imminent gig but it shouldn’t have been too difficult to simply find some other seats, like the VIP ones the person was offered. And shushing nearby fans (if true) is outright shitty, though surprising I’ll admit.

Also bit much for people to start speculating that Matt and Tom were ‘livid’ as well. It’s not uncommon at all for members of the band to rush off from a gig without talking to anyone and Tom has a pretty intensive job, particularly at this show as he was apparently translating instructions to crew in French throughout. Even if they were unhappy about something, we have literally no evidence to start connecting any behind-the-scenes dots. Could’ve just as easily been that he’d just heard about the backlash to his comment on American fans.

Edit: Does vaguely remind me of a short-ish moment at Belfast Vital last year though. Sometime through the middle of the gig, she and a friend were escorted to the middle of the ‘no mans land’ bit between the barriers w/ a few security and torches (iirc, kinda foggy ngl) so they could film, dance and ting. Was a little obnoxious and distracting but they got told to leave by festival security before it could get actually annoying. Obvs nowhere near comparitive to this situation though, just a couple of similarish elements.

The OP seems to say he clearly heard that the "mix up" was that Elle wasn't happy with her seats, and they were relocating her because of that. Not cool.

Ah, well that is fucked then. Should’ve just been told no if that was the case.

Either way, something definitely needs to be said - an explanation/apology from the band’s management and maybe Elle herself, and some form of compensation for the fan involved.

Why aren't you surprised? Because you don't like the band? Because I'm surprised, but then again I don't tend to follow the gossip.
