I dream of seeing this live, all four band members huddled over their own synths, banging out an extended 15-minute intro with some fucking huge synth beats. NIN-style.

If they do this live, do we think it'll be kinda like Exo part 1 where Matt just sings and has his guitar? Because I'd love to see him start out on keyboard and then switch to guitar partway through.

This as an opener with the stage pitch black lighting up each member as their respective parts come in. Then lasers.

This is great.

This is so great.

Wow why did I have doubts about this album? Best album opener since Take A Bow? Um, yeah maybe. I love Uprising, Supremacy, and Dead Inside, but Algorithm just methodically ticked all the boxes I wanted ticked.

I do think Algorithm is a better album opener than Dead Inside, but I think Dead Inside is a superior song.

Also, I do think it's the best opener since Take A Bow, but then, I only really consider Take A Bow an opener in the context of BH&R.

Live, it should always be a closer. It is so much more effectively deployed that way.

So when I first listened to Algorithm, after all the synths and piano calm down at 1m 19s, I totally did not expect those urgent strings to come in. Such a great way to keep the tempo going. Another thing I love is how the melody for the opening line closes in on itself rather than opening up. It sounds so fucking dark.

And another thing, I love the circularity of the song, the way it returns to the intro for the outro. And the way it reflects The Void and vice versa. Nice. The transition to Dark Side is a bit janky but hey ho.

They betterrrrr fucking open with this shit, so much potential there with the right production. Could be right up there with TAB back in the day.

Really? I love that transition, it's like a wake-up call but still has that synthy feel to it.

The only thing with the transition is the count in imo. Get rid of that and the little drum fills at the end of Algorithm flow perfectly into the rundown at the start of TDS
