Holy crap, that looks so much nicer.

This was the moment I was waiting for. Great work Zooropa (and James for the quick review).

I actually might have to consider giving him some money for my project.

Not trying to take business away from him, but I thought you had something planned with hooglebug

Gee you have a great memory

I do with both. I was looking at one of hoogle's original designs which looks amazing, the Sakura bass. Shortly after, I had an idea for a Fenderesque style P bass and sent it to Zooropa for a quote. Sadly, spending $26,000 on a car kind of offsets about $6-7,000 going into two basses, at least in the short term.

Also, your guitar got me thinking, the cavity covers on the back look amazing. I wonder how it would have gone as the pickguard cover?

Very happy you like it, thank you for the honest review James!

I think the deposit was between $600-$800. Originally the intent was to do a wood pick guard, but the walnut was easily broken that thin. And I couldn't guarantee that the black stain wouldn't wear after playing awhile. So we stuck with standard. But a good lot of ebony would have worked, just didn't have the stock.

Your pictures look WAY better than mine.

You're welcome, and I didn't realize it was that much - still worth it though!

And I just hope the back plate doesn't end up breaking when I have to change the sustainiac battery.

I wouldn't worry, as long as you don't drive the screws really hard, it'll hold just fine. I took it off and on quite a bit, even drilled the recessed screw holes. The gig bag was a reunion blues. Beautiful case.

Damn, shame about that pickguard. I used Z-Poxy on some spalted maple and it made it much tougher and also coloured it a little darker. Maybe something to try next time?

James, how does it compare to a similarly-priced Manson, based on the prices Zooropa expects to charge?

A $3,000 Manson? No way.

How about similarly priced guitar? That's more relevant.
