He was demonstrating the settings Chris used for the studio recordings, Live Chris uses a Woolly Mammoth with a clean signal blended in.

@Longan asking if Chris uses the Animato more than the Big Muff, his usual distortion sound is his signal split into three chains, one into the Animato, one into the Big Muff and one into a clean amp, Other than some songs where it's pure Animato and clean blend such as Starlight and Hyper Music etc.

This thread reminds me I really need to have a clean blend for my fuzzes.
I always thought though that Chris used 4 Big Muffs on average, more depending on the amount of people watching.

I wonder what a clean blend with fuzz would be like with guitar?

Isn't that how Matt runs his rig? Splitting his guitar signal, one loop going through his effects and another into a DI, or else I thought that's what Jason Baskin said.

clean blend on guitar can be ace as long as you OD/EQ/Comp the clean channel. Imagine using a twangy clean sound at the same time as fuzz - it's not going to sound good. You just have to be subtle with it, it can add a load of "balls".

Do you have the facility to record it DI'd?

I ordered an animato the same way as Alex had. I actually stumbled upon that website a while ago, but then dismissed it, until about two years later (ie. two nights ago) I found this thread, so I thought I'd give it a go. Super excited!

I really would like to know too. So bump de bump.

Being bored tonight, I've been searching the net and I may have a source to one pretty cheap (Say around $200). I'll have to see how to go about it when I arrive back in Australia but if I can get it, I'll play around with it sound wise and then probably tear it to pieces to make a schematic of it

Crowella the Neil Armstrong of bass fuzzes. That pedal is like the last "mystic" stuff out there.

Well, I got it. Shane Goodwin wasn't joking when he said that that yellow box "is Chris' tone."

Needs to be blended with another signal with low end still in it, but it's awesome. Definetly worth it, if that's what your looking for. Think a bit of the HAARP tone. Hyper Music and Bliss are what it can acheive very easily.
