William Shakespeare or Matt Bellamy...Who wrote it?

"What a terrible era in which idiots govern the blind"

"When god decides to look the other way and a clown takes the throne"

"How can we win, when fools can be kings?"

"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark"

"You corrupt
And bring corruption to all that you touch
You'll behold
And beholden for all that you've done
Cast a spell
Cast a spell on the country you run
And risk
You will risk
You will risk all their lives and their souls...
Oh, our freedom's consuming itself
What we've become
Is contrary to what we want
Take a bow...
Feed the hex
Feed the hex on the country you love"

Thank you Muse for the Glorious and Showbiz live SBE Christmas gifts.

The most performed song in the Muse repertoire:

PiB has been played live a total of 957 times from January 2000 (Paradiso, Amsterdam) through December 2017 (Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne).

The beginning of the riff shows similarities to the toccata from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565.

The band were apparently on hallucinogenic mushrooms when they recorded it. The 1997 studio demo of PiB lacked the main riff of the song although there were numerous similarities in the lyrics and structure of the song. PiB reportedly was to be re-recorded under the wishes of Maverick to coincide with a US tour promoting Origin of Symmetry. As Maverick wished Matt to tone down the falsetto on the song, Muse left the label and the album was not released in the US as planned in 2002.

Awesome cover version of PiB by Amy Turk, harp:

Muse songs never performed live:

FAWY has never been played live except twice as an instrumental intro to Eternally Missed at shows in Reading and Leeds in 2002 opening for Foo Fighters. The riff was also played as an intro to Starlight at the Săo Paulo, Brazil gig in 2008. The song was originally titled World Crumbling.

Amazing cover version of FAWY by Amy Turk, harp:

Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2 (Cross-Pollination), Big Freeze and Aftermath are the other three Muse studio album tracks which have never been performed live in concert.

53rd Annual Grammy Awards

Winner of Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance: 'Helter Skelter' by Paul McCartney
Winner of Best Rock Album: The Resistance by Muse

16 January 2018 Los Angeles CA

Muse members Matt Bellamy and Dom Howard were joined onstage by Sir Paul McCartney performing the Beatles classic, 'Helter Skelter,' during a Tuesday night performance under the moniker Dr. Pepper's Jaded Hearts Club Band. Howard told Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez, "It was completely spontaneous and none of us had any idea it was going to happen, so it wasn't rehearsed. We were playing at Stella McCartney's fashion show and we heard rumors he and Ringo were gonna be there. And literally we went onstage and he just showed up onstage during the first song. I was just playing along head down until I looked up and was like, 'Who's this bloke onstage?' and I realized it was Paul McCartney. I was like, 'Oh my god, this is nuts.' And he just kind of started singing." The drummer says, "It was a real once in a lifetime experience, that was. It was hugely epic." Source: loudwire.com

Footage of performance of 'I Saw Her Standing There' and 'Helter Skelter' below:
