yeah -- i can hack my way through it, too.

i guess i find its inclusion surprising in light of what appears to be matt's recent aversion to (or simple neglect of) the piano at gigs.

It’s not really that recent tbf, he’s been gradually doing less and less since Abso. Pretty sure he’s explained before that it’s because he feels like being stuck behind a piano hinders him from performing as much as he can with a guitar, and that the crowd might switch off. So, as the gigs got bigger, it makes sense that an insecurity like that would start to seem more important.

At a small gig filled with hardcores like this though, I’m sure he’s not bothered. He knows people’ll be into it regardless.

what's the secret to space dementia on piano ? While I understand it's not super complex, I find it pretty fast for m, I've been playing piano for about 1 year and a half so I guess I'm "ultra basic" too yet can't play it.

Anyway, there was no "by request" at Grand Rex, it was part of the original set list for buenos aires (I was there), and it was all part of their first south american tour ever in which they decided to play a whole lot of rarities since it was the first time ever in those countries.

AP, Fury, DS, CE, COD and Bliss also got played on that tour being considered rarities at the time (although AP, Bliss and CE became less of a rarity in more recent tours)

need to get back on topic in this thread, but as far as SD goes on the piano, it's all about keeping muscle memory engaged once one masters the general hand motions in the song. the hardest part to master is, ironically, the chorus -- lots of arpeggiated chords that change quite quickly. one doesn't need big hands to master the song -- just nimble ones.

Wasn’t on the set according to Musewiki. You can see/hear in the footage some people shouting ‘Space Dementia’ before Matt says “What? Alright, we’ll play that then.” as well.

People watching streams get to choose between two songs for some slots. They’ve done it before, maybe more than once last year I think?

As I recall, the live-voting thing was just done in the Austin live stream, with Bliss/Plug in Baby, The Handler/Stockholm and Dead Inside/Undisclosed on the ballots. Unless another in-gig thing happened that I missed.

Is anyone on here who’s going planning on staying behind after the show to meet the band (or even just know someone who is)?

Wondering if I could ask a wee favour

After I voted there was a chance to submit comments. There weren't many, maybe 15-20 (?) when I voted, but if I had to quess, the selection will be something like

Showbiz
Muscle Museum
Micro Cuts
Space Dementia/Hyper Music
Bliss/New born(?)
EDIT:Also maybe SfA

I saw some mentions for CoD and Invincible, but based on that sampling they will probably not be picked.

Obviously, you never know if those who wanted to secure some more common favourites just didn't comment and we end up with Hysteria or whatever.

I'm really hoping the live vote will be decent, at least CE or something thrown in there.

Wouldn't mind hearing Thought Contagion live either.

If someone from here is going, what time are you planning on going to get the wrist band?

On the Guardian Q&A thing, Matt said they were going to play Thought Contagion for sure.

And no idea about the wrist band! But in case you're wondering, you can pick it up from 1pm.

Thanks for the Guardian info, good to know!

I noticed the 1 pm thing but if I get it too early (and it's some flimsy paper thing) I'll just be stressing about it the whole day... Will have to figure it out.

Ah yes, fair enough. I guess if you're not queueing you could get it at the time you're planning on entering the venue?

Don’t worry! You can queue and leave it later, just 10 min to go to take your wristband. People around will not steal your place in the queue if you explain them that you have to get your wristband.
There will be more people at 5 than at 1pm that’s why they say it’s better to take it soon.

^Thanks for the tips. I'm getting old and jaded because it didn't even occur to me that people might be queuing. I'm planning on seeing Paris during the day/afternoon. I was more worried about there being a rush if I show up late and the wrist band thing holds things up. Good to know that these are seperate lines, or so I gather!
