I'm related to someone who once toured with the band that pays for this very message board.

That's the most I can brag about.

Oh and I'm not sure if you were implying that work was expensive or not (I imagine not) but it all seems very reasonable after you pay gibson $1800 to do a poor job at replacing a neck. Never again.

No, that is a reasonable refinish price considering the work involved to strip and prep a guitar then paint it again.

And great... there goes the rest of my day at work.. figure out how James is two deviations from Muse...

They didn't refinish the entire guitar as it was a solid black finish, so just the area around the neck joint was resprayed. Not sure if any stripping was involved. I'm guessing the most expensive part as far as labor goes was removing the old neck, but that's what they screwed up... I later on was going to have it refinished with a black top and natural back, and when it was stripped, they found that wood in the neck joint area had broken off and was glued back

This all happened before he even knew I posted on the message board of that band. I did get his old 2006 US tour pass though and got to hear about what it was like touring with them.

Also, today a record might be broken of most guitars received at once. It's going to be awkward when I have to sign for them. The surf green MA should be in there, so I hope your body is ready, Ross0203.

It's a little paler than I was expecting, and I need to change the pickup surround and switch tip to chrome, but other than that.... I'm sending it to EJD now for his approval.

IT LIVES!

Glad you like, and of course you can't copyright it, as I'm not entirely sure what it is! It seems a little more pale than most surf green guitars I've seen, but still nice.

Actually James, do quite like that. Real retro style to it.

Agree on the chrome pickup surround too.

It does look great though, I actually think it could work having after having a look at that MA with a similar paintjob. This with floyd, kill switch and sustainer would be perfect to me.

Whose guitar is this btw?
It's mine! A floyd wouldn't work due to the shape of the MA (too less room). I spent 1794 pounds on it in total.

Were you originally wanting one with a floyd rose?

Seems like there's enough room for a fuzz factory to make Ross0203's dreams come true

Yeah, that was the idea with this. I think I mentioned those 50's reissue strats.

Looking at pictures of various surf green guitars, I think this color is actually correct. They do seem to vary, but the recent non-relic'd fenders all appear to look identical. Fair enough I guess; the other guitar makes up for any paleness in this finish.

I'll have to find one of those surrounds, and a switch tip as well. For some reason EVERY chrome switch tip I've bought hasn't fit properly. I think they're the cheap plastic ones, and the ones Mansons use appear to be brass with a chrome finish (judging by how some of them have aged)

Yeah man, the one I put on the last mirror guitar was chromed nickel alloy or something.

Also, sorted that thing we were talking about
