Would you buy official bootlegs of all the live shows?

If they were to do I think they may as well just do downloads. Too much costs with producing CDs for every gig surely? If we can just get a high quality download of each gig made available shortly after then that'd be fine by me

Did Kasabian rattle the cds out at the actual gig? That was my first line of thought - to collect a cd there and then but from what you've said, it doesn't sound quite so good - a short wait and a better version would be

I personally think RHCP got it bang on... I went to the gig on Saturday, and I had the recording on Tuesday, it's mixed very well, and is available in FLAC (Bought that, burnt it as data to a CD for safe keeping, converted to MP3 for iPod).

If you use my idea, and only produce the ones that have actually been ordered, it could be cost efficient. I'd happily pay around £15 for a physical version.

Regarding artwork, I'd say just have something as simple as the RHCP ones. Something maybe like this:

well i trade bootlegs so i personally wouldnt pay for any bootleg,but if you want to download some stuff 2 get u started you can try dimeadozen, jamtothis, &the traders den hope this helps

They would be an official releases, not a bootlegs... So if you were to trade these (assuming it does actually happen), I believe you may be breaking the law?

Anyone know more about the trading laws for these sorts of things? As far as I could see, it would be illegal, but I may be wrong...
If it's legal, it could be a good idea to trade different recordings.
Like, if one person bought a Manchester recording, another bough Birmingham, they could just send them each others way, so they have both recordings, but only bought one...

The more I talk about it, the less legal it sounds

Pre-ordering makes perfect sense. The orders could be taken now for the Autumn tour, giving them plenty of time to get things set up and ready.

Not sure I'd want to wait 2 or 3 months though. Your chillies example sounds about right.

The mixing's just not great... It's okay, but the levels are wrong...

Yeah, that sounds fair enough... Then everyone can get what they want, and there wouldn't be any money loss...

The timing on that was stupid. I was meant to be able to collect straight after the gig, but the whole tour recording went tits up, and they ended up producing a couple of thousand of the 1 gig, took a couple of months to mix, and they still charged £20!!!
(But I'm a Kasabian obsessive, so I still got it )

RHCP got it bang on. I was dead happy with it.

Are you sure they're still bootlegs? YOu have to pay for them, which I'm sure will make them official material...

not literally no, guess its a nice way of branding the material.

If you could have every gig ever put up for download, would you pay the lifetime membership fee? i'd be swinging towards yes.. if they were in FLAC format.
