I'm getting the impression that this album is going to have more orchestral components to it considering how Pink Stinkfish sounds/the Orchestral album trailer. Very interested in seeing how everything's going to work out...

Yeah I agree about the orchestral part. I saw a two-minute trailer for the album yesterday on YouTube and that combined with the shorter preview clips do suggest that it seems much more strings based. I find that odd considering it contradicts not just the lead single but also Damon's claim that this album is quite poppy as a direct result of shows like The X Factor.

Either way, we won't know until the album itself is out. I'm still hugely looking forward to it.

I think it all makes it more interesting to check out. Some teasers are string based, some even movie-like and a few of them are quite poppy. Demon Days had a number of this too, compare the title track to Dare and there's a substantial difference, but it still holds up greatly and it all sounds coherent. Demon Days wasn't just good as a set of songs, it was marvelous as an album as well.

Parts of what Murdoc played in the Pirate Radio even sounded oriental. The contrast seems comparable to what Muse did with Exogenesis and I Belong To You when pitted up against everything else in The Resistance, except I have the feeling that if such would be compared, Gorillaz would have a much better opportunity to make it fit as an album.

Speaking of The X-Factor, Murdoc slagged it off in the recent NME interview. Good shit.

I kinda would. Not cause of the backstory currently going on (Russell nowhere to be found, Noodle presumabely dead, 2-D being forced to perform against his own will and Murdoc discovering the end of days) but cause Damon actually said time and time again that it's their last in all the press invitations for album playthroughs, plus Jamie is sick of drawing the characters.

So yeah, I dont think there's any return from that point on. Maybe a super reuinion 15 years later or something but still, very doubtful. Phase 3 is the end it seems.

Mhmm. Check out this new one, pretty interesting as it's string based but has a pop influence that's different than any of the trailers we've seen before.

Sounds like music that would go along to a person being all suspicious in a movie or TV show or something.

That's a sweet teaser with quite an interesting score, looks like we'll finally be having some interesting story animations instead of G-Bites, music videos and idents. I like how its titled "Murdoc Ident" on the Gorillaz site. Gives me hope for a 2D and Noodle Ident as well.

Next video comes online the 13th of February with another one the 15th. Another audio (presumabely yet another Radio Hijack) will go online the 16th. They sure know how to keep fans excited.
