Warner Legal Situation (Our April Fools)

APRIL FOOLS!

OK we know we broke some of the April fools rules a bit... oops! This is actually far bigger than we ever intended and well we intended it to be pretty big. We hope we haven't upset anyone or caused anyone any bother, we certainly didn't intend that. We thought it was too absurd to be believed like this. I mean copyrighting likeness in a photograph haha.

It's true we have far too much time on our hands, bob's been recruiting fan sites, we've been drafting fake legal documents putting together a plan. Stu and Bob spent hours planting the seeds. And well we're now probably gonna get sacked for giving reason for Warner shit loads of hate.

So just so you know Warner haven't issued any legal threats to us or the fansites! they've realised so much flack for this that i think you should all praise them for being that glorious corporation of media that they are.

Now we first want to thank all the fan sites for taking part, they are www.microcuts.net, www.muselive.com, www.musecast.co.uk, www.musewiki.org and www.musesyndrome.com you should all visit their sites and give them lots of love and traffic.

And second we really sincerely want to apologise to all the people who have offered us support, kind words, concern it was very sweet and we don't deserve it. Also to anyone we've worried, scared, annoyed etc again same.. sorry!

Hope there's no hard feelings and you got some enjoyment out of this.

OK for anyone who missed all the fun/drama of the events (or anyone around who wants to see more), I've compiled a list of links on the April Fools that this website in conjunction with numerous fansites did. There's an awful lot of reading to be found in these links i'm afraid but there are some great quotes. If you want a quick summary just stick to announcement links, though the reactions are the real gold.

Discussion - The joke started here with bob and pope recieving the letter

Discussion - muse.mu thread about the issue / petition

Petition - The petition to save muse fansites - 600+ signatures and (oddly) still rising

Discussion - muse.mu thread on the warner situation

Announcement - Microcuts news on the issue

Discussion - Microcuts forum - in french

Discussion - Microcuts news hits muselive

Announcement - Musewiki news hits

Announcement - Musewiki Legal Action posting (more detail on the story)

Announcement - Musecast

Announcement - Muselive

Discussion - Muselive (above announcements comments)

Announcement - muse.mu confirmation

Discussion - Warner lawyer speaks out

Announcement - The truth is revealed

*i can't find anything on muse syndrome*

if you've seen this april fools mentioned as a joke or as serious elsewhere on the net please pm a link (i gather it made some other forums but i don't know where) - but please not myspace or live journal stuff cos there's just too much to link to it all.

Also i gather that a lot of people sent messages to real news agencies about it, if it appears in anything (extremely unlikely) whether as joke or not please p.m. me so i can add it to this list.

If you've come here from the press or warner or anyone else who wishes to get hold of the organisers of this please use the email of admin@board.muse.mu
