It's murder, but I'm trying not to listen to much music right now.
I don't mind sounding influenced by a band, but I don't want to be "the next" anything.
I want to have my own style and that won't happen if I'm constantly listening to music.
Like I wanted a Kaoss pad for my guitar, but I don't want to rely on it for sound, so I'm working on writing my music first, then I'll add effects and see what I can do.
As for lyrics, I tend not to think when I write. Almost freewriting, whatever comes to mind until I can convey what I was feeling at the time.
Also, my ex (Vanessa) is apparently being sent to Chicago in a few weeks to live with her grandma for a semester by her mom.

Not so much yet. I took a shower after writing it and thought of a great guitar riff that went really well with the lyrics, kind of dark (it's about wanting more than you can get) but it wasn't too heavy and it has a little distortion (it's on electric guitar). But then I forgot how it went before I got out of the shower. I need to sit down with my guitar and figure out what I wanted it to sound like. It was similar to a Muse song, I know that, but I can't remember which one. I think something like the opening to Futurism or maybe something like Easily... I had a guitar riff, a base line, and vague idea for drums, but it's all gone now. Back to the drawing board.
