Yeah that is true...... I have never really listened to the full album I must admit! I'm pretty one track with music and I like my Rock 'n' Roll bands. But this song is stunning so I maye give the album a try and try and open my mind a bit more.
Goooood :p

Hopes and Fears is a fantastic album. Its got a few duds on their, but its one of the many great albums to have come out of 2004.

Spiralling is surely rubbish though........

I LOVE Keane !!!! I've seen them live twice so far. (Rotterdam 2006, Amsterdam 2007) but I'll soon see them three more times (Antwerp Oct. 27, Rotterdam Oct. 28 and Cologne Nov. 5.) and I don't think that's gonna be enough for this tour. I'm surely gonna see them in the UK when they start touring there as well.

Here's the new single 'The lovers are losing' which I think is BRILLIANT!!! Check it out if you haven't heard it yet. Oh and for the guitar-lovers among us... This new album has guitars on it and during the new tour Tom will be playing the guitar.

Well, Last.fm says you can listen to the FULL new album, but thats not strictly true. The tracks have commentary over them and they seem to have taken The Lovers Are Losing off so you can only listen to a preveiw which is crap cause its supposed to be one of the best tracks on the album. Anyway if your on Last.fm have a look:

http://www.last.fm/music/Keane/Perfect+Symmetry

Edit: They've put The Lovers Are Losing back on in full now.

I know but thats Keane's sound. I think its admirable of them to dicard guitars. There are more guitars in Under The Iron Sea, but Hopes and Fears is better.

Bedshaped is beautiful

I agree - watched live at the 02 DVD on Saturday night - bloody great - now I can look forward to seeing them live in Belfast 2009

you can listen to new album preview with band's commentary on last.fm

there are 11 songs on the album, Spiralling is the best one, then i liked 4 other songs...
my opinion is they are not an amazing band but they can make some good songs.

Hey, this Keane you're all talking about. Is this the same Keane who, back when they started, used to go on about not having guitars anywhere near their band (at least until they started sampling them on their second album)?

Either it's not the same band or I'm hallucinating, as I'm watching Later with Jools and Tom's got a Tele strapped round him, while they also seem to have grown a bassist. What gives?

Haha yeah it does look weird seeing Tom with a guitar. Who is that bassist? I don't know his name :erm: But yeah, it was bound to happen really, I'm not surprised. They were going that way with UTIS but they still have their sound even with guitars which is good. I still haven't got the new album, must get it.

I'm not a huge fan, but my mum is. Infact I'm being dragged to see them for the 6th time in Feb at the BIC in Bomo.
I've seen them as a support act for Travis (back in the day!) The O2 DVD gig, Isle of Wight festival, plus Brighton and Cardiff on the 2nd album tours.

At none one of these gigs would I say they were underwhelming. Tom is FULL of insincere 'omg you're the best audience eva!11' comments, which do my head in. But aside from that, they've always been good - and i've seen more than enough bands to compare them with :p

Apparently Keane had two guitarists before their first album came out. For one reason or another they were both ditched. At least this is what I remember being discussed on Radio shortly after their first album came out. I thought it was a bit harsh.

Yes, they've been touring for a year and after the Canadian tour and some gig they're gonna do in Spain in October they're gonna have a rest, Tom and Rich said. They'll start doing a little touring again once the mini-album is released which will be in May 2010.

Keane's my current addiction. The singer's voice kinda reminds me of another band I love... Anberlin and their vocalist Stephen Christian.

Keane are my one and only favourite band and i love all of Muse's stuff so that's a hard question. :erm: It was my friend that got me into Muse and she said here try these and she gave me Bliss, TIRO, Muscle Museum and PIB. I really liked them and those are the songs that got me into Myooze. :p

I listened to that EP/mini album/goodness knows what kind of fuckery called Night Train. It's so bad. I prefered the Keane in 2004 when they weren't so desperate to hit the big time and weren't targetting stadiums.

Agreed. Aside from a song or two, the new EP is really mediocre, which makes me thankful that it's just an EP. The K'Naan collaborations are especially embarrassing. And this is coming from someone who didn't think Perfect Symmetry was half-bad. Hopefully this was just a series of experiments that Keane felt weren't appropriate for a full album. I appreciate new directions for a band (hence why I tolerated Perfect Symmetry), but this was just a terrible effort all-around.
