They're opening for Stereolab in Toronto in a couple weeks, I want to go, but I'm broke.
I love them!
I really really liked their last album, "cedars". With the first one, "Lido", it took me some time to like, but it still has some very nice songs..
But the good news are, they are getting ready to release a new album! yay! :D

Apparently, there are 4 demo tracks from the new album on the band's myspazz site

:D
The single "Good Clean Fun" will be out on December the 5th.
The single is the first off the album "Amber" that should be out on January 16th. The album was produced by Clearlake's Jason Pegg with recorded by Phill Brown (Talk Talk, Bob Marley, Led Zep) and mixed by Steve Osborne (U2, Happy Mondays, KT Tunstall)...
I've heard a couple of demos from the album (on http://www.myspace.com/clearlakenoise) and it definitely sounds more "rocky" than the last one...
Should be awesome, can't wait :D
Trust me, it's a brilliant, brilliant record. I'm biased because I do their site, but it is...
There are 6 demos in all out there - four on the Myspace site and two more on Domino's site. There may well be more coming on the official site before the release but nothing's 100% confirmed yet.

yeah, I've heard all 6 and I really, really like "I hate it that I got....". :D
Have you heard the entire thing?
BTW, as the webdesigner, do you know how popular is th site? Does it get a lot of hits? 'Cos the media seems to be pretty quite about the new album..

Have I heard it? Oh yes. It is ... fantastic. The demos are good but the final versions are so much better, you'll hardly recognise them. "Finally Free" in particular has changed a lot.
Not sure how popular the site is, hit count-wise. I started doing a fansite in January when there was no news to speak of, and had about 100 hits a day within a fortnight. Went official in March after getting in touch with the band, and I can only imagine that the hit count has increased a lot since but I don't have a measure for that site. There's certainly plenty of sites out there linking to the site as a whole, or just the demos.
The media have been quiet about it so far, but then the single and album release dates have only been known for a short time. At the minute, their profile is actually higher in the USA than it is here... you'll find mentions of the new album on Pitchfork (http://www.pitchforkmedia.com) which is a pretty big site. In the UK, they're getting mentioned on Teletext (C4, page 351) quite a bit.
Expect more on the UK front soon. I'm sure the record label are on the case but I'm lobbying as well...
One more thing. There's three tour dates up on the site - all in the south east (London/ Brighton/ Hastings) at the minute, but things should go a bit more 'national' in February.
There really ought to be a bit more fuss this time round... "Amber" is sensational and I really want a lot of people to hear it!

yeah, it is a bit frustrating to really love a band and realize most people don't even know it exists...
I've read the Pitchfork thingy, including the one about Cedars. Seemed like they really liked that one... I LOVED it
Well, hopefully there will be a little more fuss this time round. I'll certainly do all I can...
Does anybody know a site where I can find lyrics to the band's songs?
Cheers :)
...for the second album are on the album sleeve.
They weren't on the first album, so we put them up on the website (http://www.clearlake.uk.com/lido.htm)!
Cheers, man :)
Hope they come to Glasgow soon :(

New album's out today - haven't listened to it yet though.

It's no "Cedars" but it's pretty good. "I hate it that I've..." is brilliant, "Widescreen" and "You can't have me" are also excellent....
Ok, so Neon will be released as a single and a video was also made for it.
But the more interesting news are that they're going on tour:
"News has just come in of Clearlake's first heavy UK touring action in some time... they'll be special guests on The Crimea's tour, taking in 24 (count them!) dates across all of February and early March. All of the tour dates and information can be found here. Regrettably this means that the Camden Barfly gig scheduled for 8 February is having to be postponed; apologies for that and more when we get it..."
Special guests? WTF? Aren't they slightly bigger (not to mention better) than The Crimea? But that's not really important, what's important is are they gonn'a give a decent, full-length show? Or just a couple of songs? :( I was really looking forward to see them live...

Yeah, it's ok. I need more time with it but I have to say that if I wasn't already a fan of their old stuff and someone played it to me I'd probably be non-plussed and reviews that said they were trying to sound more like an "NME Band" aren't entirely inaccurate. Having said that "I hate it.." is a great song and "Amber" is particularly weird and Clearlakey.
Went to see them yesterday. 'twas ashame they were only "supporting", they really deserve more, especially when you consider the fact that the headliners were The Crimea. They played about 9 songs, of which 2 were off Lido and 2 off Ceders. The show was really really good. I'm thinking of maybe going to see them headline somewhere...
Toward the last song, the lead (Jason?) said that because of the other band on tour with them, Manics, who are American: "I used to think all Americans were retarded [with a very American 'R'], but now I think they're getting there.."
He's a really nice guy
The single will be released on CD, 7" and 12" formats, where the latter includes 2 remixes (by Long Range and Backstage Sluts)

Seems like the new single is going to be "It's Getting Light Outside"... What an odd selection of singles these guys have..
oh, and if you're in the Brighton area and want to appear on the new video, here's your chance:

That's stupid, they arent releasing "Hate it.."? It's not like they're a big band who can afford to be obstinate with their singles.
In one of the episodes of "Shameless", the tune on Frank's alarm clock is "Almost the Same"
...the guys are working on a 4th album!
Have a listen to a demo, here. (http://www.myspace.com/clearlakenoise) (Can't say that I have, myself - it's not playing on my slow dial-up)

I'm really liking that song! Very Clearlakey
I know I'm probably the only one reading (and posting in) this thread, but what the hell...

I like Almost the Same and I Hate It That I Got What I Wanted, but I assume that's like liking Smells Like Teen Spirit and not knowing any other Nirvana tracks.

Not really, 'cause Clearlake doesn't really have "hits" :p "I Hate it..." wasn't even a single....
Anyway, Listen to Cedars and Lido (their second and first albums) - they're excellent as a whole (although Cedars is more consistent as an album) :yesey:
Looks like the new album is really coming alone fast!
