We Love Life? No, well who did? But from Separations through to This is Hardcore is pure class.

I've yet to hear any of Relaxed Muscle though.

I saw the Common People clip on tv the other weekend... It made me feel like I was 14 again....
I still remember some of the moves to that "dance" bit too.

they were a fantastic piece of the britpop culture. very good :D

Brundlefly

I dont really see that. I mean, they were popular at the same time, and people called them britpop. But they never really fit in properly, they'd been around ages beforehand and Different Class still had a very 80s feel.

fair enough, I just fail to see a common thread, chronology aside, between the other Britpop bands and Pulp.

i can see what you mean now that you've told me they were around in the 80's and i guess its the smae for the rest of the perople who knew them before.but for others like me i only really noeticed pulp around that whole era so associate them with it. if you see what i mean. :)

If pulp count as britpop, then the verve definitly count. And good as they were, they werent as good. I just found Pulp on Fire in HMV for £5. Its a double CD collection of their early stuff on fire records.

DC, TIH, H'n'H are all good albums... there was a good second class cd that came with the different class album for a limited time, and it goes to show their b-side were just as good, 'mile end' is a great song

older stuff from 'serperations' and 'freaks' are also pretty good

Pulp is Pulp, the jarvis cocker style has no equal. I almost cryed when i saw him seenging again just for a second, in Harry Potter, and making again new songs, three new songs.

He said they will be back in a year, when they decide not to continue with Pulp, but the oficial site closed =(

Long life to Pulp.

Yeah Jarivs and is it Johnny Greenwood?...Only for like two seconds, which is hardly worth it..which is why I'm glad Franz were too busy to do it :p.

ANYWAY: Pulp woo yeah! I saw them at Leeds 2002, regret never seeing them on their own tour but that was an excellent set all the same. I am addicted to "This is Hardcore" right now - I always considered that the ultimate "fuck off Britpop" album.

I saw them on the Different Class tour at Sheffield Arena, first gig after Jarvis had mooned Whacko, so that'd be, ooooh, late '95, early '96. Classic gig. He came on and immediately did a Jacko impression. He was quite good, actually.

I read a lot about it for that Themes and Sources project I've just done. They were trying to get Jarvis done for GBH towards the kids in the performance any everything. The things people did to try and make Jacko look good and Jarvis look like a child harming monster! 0_o

I saw a version of Pulp at a festival in 2002 but I'm guessing this one is the original line-up and that one wasn't?

Pulp had been going a couple of decades before they split and have had all sorts of members over the years. So the original lineup had nothing to do with what they are famous for.

Apparently it's the lineup during Different Class that are getting back together and that was only 1 person different from what you'd have seen in 2002 I think.

Yeah I'm aware of their history and longevity ;p - just was confused cos one of the press releases I saw said "the first time they have performed together since 1995" which threw me cos in 2002 it was definitely billed as Pulp and not Jarvis as a solo artist.

They will next year I think. It's [bigging up the Pulp announcement] a cheap way of getting it to sell out quickly I guess.

Wireless is weird anyway, from previous experience, the fact there are bands playing other stages makes it a festival technically but the headliner is allowed no competitors in their slot...so it feels like an outdoor gig from that point. I dunno, at least that was how it was in 2008 when Morrissey headlined.
