I've started my own thread for this topic as the previous was created by another member for a Leeds DVD.
As everyone knows, BBC didnt broadcast Muses OOS set apart from New Born, Bliss, and Plug in baby, so Im in the process of editing the tracks that didnt get shown and will be releasing the DVD on Musebootlegs upon completion together with the proshot footage included so you have a DVD of the complete set.
So you'll have proshots of New Born and Bliss, into my edit of Space Dementia and Hyper music, then finally back to the proshot of plug in baby, before returning to my edit of the rest of OOS, then continues the proshot of the encore as shown on the BBC.
The edit is coming along really well and Im about half way done, heres a sample of Darkshines below (youtube quality dousent do the vid justice so watch in highest quality as the original video is HD sourced).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTL6zpv5ofM
I have the whole set recorded from the screen so have tidied up the contrast abit and used it as the base of the edit, so its as close to a proshot we are going to get for now.
So if you have any footage you'd like to contribute to the edit then please let me know. A huge thankyou to anyone whos already contributed footage.
Im fully aware I have a couple of other promised DVDs to be released too (casino de paris etc), and they will be sent this one (as soon as next week).

What Simon said, thanks so much for this Liam, i've lost count of how many times i've said that.
Thank you so much Liam, words fail to describe how grateful we are for everything you do.
Just a question: have you considered the idea of doing a DVD with only the OoS songs? Some kind of homage.
But in the end...do whatever you think it's right, we love you no matter what. :D

Well im going to just be editing the OOS songs as we have the encore in proshot and i'll be putting it over 2 DVDs to save the quality, so the OOS set will be on disk 1 and disk 2 shall be the proshot starting from the stadium intro :)

fantastic. cannot wait! was a fantastic show. Can't wait to re-watch micro cuts. Well done for capturing the screen, the Darkshines edit looks brilliant Where did you manage to record it from, i can only imagine the VIP centre sound tower would be the best angle to capture it.

[QUOTE=mapoftheglorious;9271597]
The sound will be improved, I have someone atm sorting me out two sources of the audio (one being directly from the soundboard).
So when you say you have sound directly from the soundboard, does that mean it's what we would have heard more or less if it was broadcasted?
ExogenesisP1

Don't know if you can but would be sweet if you could get rid of the people talking in the background, it would improve the sound quality massively :).

I havent got it atm but a friends mastering the recording, its aparrantly dodgy in places but most of the OOS set is meant to sound great, and yes, theyre known as IEM recordings.

I wont be using the audio in that vid, thats just there as a template until I overlay it with the good audio.

Cheers man, I have alot of awesome friends here in the Muse community so its a pleasure to be able to share my work with such awesome people who I know will love being able to have a DVD they can treasure of their night at Reading, and for those that missed out because of the BBC, this will hopefully fill a void until anything official ever comes out.
Yeah, the whats he building in there intro is here too. The last 10 seconds of it was shown on the BBC so I've edited it so it transitions into the BBC broadcasts proshot from audience footage of it before New born starts.

Y'know, you should consider selling them... It seems a lot of people want these DVDs but can't download them by themselves... Even if you don't make a profit out of it. You could just get back the money from the disc, case, printing and postage... Just a thought :)

I personally prefer someone to sort out the good from the bad and knock it all together in the right order with the best available soundtrack. That way I can watch it on the 42" with sound blasting out of the HiFi and me with a beer in hand - hell I may even jump around the room. :)

That preview is awesome work Liam. If this is anywhere near as good as your mindblowing Wembley edit then it will be the Muse release of the year for sure! :awesome:
I was wondering though, are you going to edit the broadcast footage in any way, either to blend it in with the rest of the edit or at least to restore a few moments such as Matt's kneeslide during the New Born intro or the point-to-camera PiB intro, both of which the BBC cut away from in their footage?

I was actually thinking the same thing for some moments the BBC cut away when there was other things we'd rather be seeing (i.e - yeah Matts new born knee slide), the thing is though, what with the BBC3 footage having the logo etc, i thought it might be alittle distracting.. I'll see though.
Is there anyone who fancies a go at designing the DVD cover for this, please feel free to, because even if there is more than 1 cover design people can choose which one they would like to print for their DVD, please submit any entries in here.
For the back of the cover the OOS set is on DVD1 (plus an interview before the set), and DVD2 was the encore from the uprising intro onwards.

I did this and I don't know why. I really don't think its suitable as a DVD cover though.

I know you asked for a DVD cover, but I just thought I'd point you in the direction of the CD one I made and is on my blog... Someone can use it and edit to make a DVD one if they want to... If I have time, I'll have a whack at the DVD...

I have the whole set recorded from the screen so have tidied up the contrast abit and used it as the base of the edit, so its as close to a proshot we are going to get for now.
The sound will be improved, I have someone atm sorting me out two sources of the audio (one being directly from the soundboard).
So if you have any footage you'd like to contribute to the edit then please let me know. A huge thankyou to anyone whos already contributed footage.
Im fully aware I have a couple of other promised DVDs to be released too (casino de paris etc), and they will be sent this one (as soon as next week).
You are a hero.

HAHA... Nah, it isn't that... It's a subtle Kasabian reference... there's a bit in the new B-Side, Pistols At Dawn, that says "Straighten up, take your pills, nuts is watching so forget your thrills... Plastic limbs, antidote, now you see it was all a hoax"

Yeah true. Dee3Dee got some fantastic wideshots of the backing screens with Kirkys graphics, so when I've got the OOS editing completed, I'll have a quick run through the BBC proshot side by side with Dee's footage and see if theres anything interesting going on on the screens that can be layered over the BBC footage here and there.
Microcuts had some awesome graphics so I've tried to include them as much as possible. Infact I'll stick up a teaser of Microcuts tonight so you can all see how its progressing.

Yeah as mentioned in the wembley torrent notes: "I've had a few minor problems with the menu with not being able to get the chapter marks right (the dvd authorer I use dousent seem to do it correctly for some reason) but apart from that, its an animated menu"

I love the design! :D
I also think it's funny that you've done the encore in a smaller font. As if to say "ORIGIN OF SYMMETRY LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (oh and some others)" completely the opposite to what Muse and the BBC did!
I'd say get rid of the grey background for the font though, and just have the font over the background itself. Like I mean, it looks like you used a grey textbox or something and it clashes with the grey behind it anyway, and misses the stars. Hope that makes sense.
In fact I'd get rid of all the grey boxes completely, including on the front cover. You don't even need "OOS live at Reading" on the front, because the background design is so awesome :D

Yeah, I was a little unsure about the boxes, I just wanted a way of defining the text a bit more and making the pictures blend, I'll play around with it some more and see how it turns out :).
Oh and massively improved orangeness by the way: http://i.imgur.com/dhqsa.jpg

Please people can you remember to use spoilers when pictures are too big for the size of the page?
How do you do that? (Sorry for being a bit shit on here :P)
BTW, it's looking great now! Can't wait for it to go up!
Yeah, but I just love the contrast of that and the way the BBC footage was more like some crappy old album AND THE VERY BEST OF MUSE'S GREATEST HITS!!!!!
To be honest, I think it would work great just as the main background image, it looks so good. No boxes, no text, no photos. It's that good. Maybe just have "MUSE : Origin Of Symmetry ~ Live At Reading Festival 2011" on the side bit, but in an outline text, so you wouldn't need the box? If that would work anyway. Look forward to seeing how it turns out with some playing around. :)
Edit :
Ooooh, I didn't notice you'd uploaded just the background picture on it's on. *downloads*
The orange versions are pretty cool too. I need to look through some of the other entries at some point. Not had chance to look through them all yet.

During Dark Shines, did you happen to capture the part of the visuals where the solo is coming to an end and the black shillouetted guy flips open his red eyes and then beats the hell out of some people? Because i saw that in a couple youtube videos and thought it was really powerful to see, so i was just wondering if it was on this awesome dvd.

Theres been some brilliant cover art designs, my personal favourites are Ollys and iJoes, but every single one thats been submitted has been awesome :)
So, all the OOS set has been edited now, theres just a couple more uploaders currently uploading their footage to include in the edit so I'll add any additional footage in over the current edit before I finalise it. So my final main job is to skim through the proshot encore of hits alongside the wideshot of the stage to see if theres any kick ass Kirky graphics that need including in the proshot, then its done! :)
I'll upload a final teaser tonight of Megalomania.

I'm very much looking forward to this fan edit of Muse's Reading performance, thank you very much Liam :)
Although, I very much doubt that Muse will not, in fact, release a DVD of this performance (or rather I HOPE they will!). The visuals on the enormous screens behind the band were spectacular (to say the least) and the way Matt threw two guitars, during their 2 hour set, violently onto the stage (completely totalling the second) makes me think, that although this was an absolute privilege to witness live, I hope they will not deny fans unable to attend the festival the chance to see this in another medium. To my knowledge, this was not broadcasted on the BBC. Also the presence of the 360 cameras, in my mind, seems to verify my maybe hopeful claim. I think the record company would be mad not to release this footage on DVD, considering Muse had their own cameras (so I read earlier in this thread, although I was at the gig and did not personally see them myself).
Either way, I believe we will all be satisfied whether or not we are granted professional footage of the show, as Liam has kindly assembled alternate footage which (from the previews) is looking very promising.

Awesome! Can't wait to see a matrix of the pro-shot and Liam's source. Will it be in torrent format? It's a lot easier to download that way vs. megaupload/rapidshare.
I saw the BBC3 proshot of Reading on YouTube before it got taken off. Even though only 3 songs were shown from Origin Of Symmetry I could tell it was an incredible performance, especially Stockholm Syndrome. Awesome stage setup too with the screens and the pyro. But, to be honest I've gotta say the visuals for Supermassive Black Hole were exteremely lame. The video of the robots or whatever looked like it came out of a children's video. But they still played the song great.

Yeah, they were fucking awesome ! Especially as the opening visuals - the speedy motion of hundreds of pitchfork thingys really added to the buzz of New Born, lol.
The OoS visuals as a whole were the best I've ever seen! They captured the whole album brilliantly - even more so with the pitchforks in the foreground on stage. It really felt like they'd gone to some real effort to pay homage to the album by using all the artwork and bringing it to life. The Micro Cuts visuals stood out, imo, as did Screenager and Darkshines - they all matched those songs perfectly. Bloody amazing, the whole thing! :D

I agree and disagree about the visuals.
New Born, Bliss, Space Dementia, Hyper Music, Micro Cuts, Screenager, Darkshines and Megalomania were awesome.
Plug In Baby, Citizen Erased and Feeling Good were not. Plug In Baby used the usual rotating multiscreen which is boring, Citizen had no visuals at all and Feeling Good looked completely out of place with its birds and the bees type visuals.
New Born was amazing though, the visuals really complimented the speed of the song.

Yeah, I was gonna say - from what I remember, CE's visuals were great, too. I had to watch loads of YouTube videos to actually remember what the visuals look like cos I couldn't see much on the nights, lol.
But I agree - PiB visuals were just recycled from the Resistance tour and maybe even prior to that - I swear they've used them since HAARP, if not earlier! And same for FG. It would have been nice if they'd created new visuals for those songs to complement the rest of the OoS artwork, but I guess they wanted to save themselves the hassle (and money) and just use existing graphics. The other 9 songs had amazing visuals, though, which more than made up for those two tracks. :awesome:
Map of the Problematique's resistance tour visuals would have looked amazing on that screen.

My biggest regret and disappointment is the fact that Muse did OoS at Reading festival, and would have been more appropriate/appreciated at a Muse gig, so 90,000 Muse fans could enjoy it, and not just mainly festival goers that have no idea about OoS.
Although, according to NME, since Reading Festival, sales of OoS have increased by over 300% Sweet!

Only new thing for Feeling Good was on the side-screens - there was something from the Origin booklet overlapping the band on the side screens, although on the big screen it showed the same weirdness they've been using for that since Black Holes.

436% actually!
Which is over 300, is it not? ;)
I knew it was more, but I couldn't find my copy of NME to put the exact amount :L :L
More people to bear witness to the Genius of Muse :LOL::LOL:

I cannot wait for this, Liam, once again, you are a LEGEND!
I also ( a whole year later!) just discovered your Wembley DVD project and am currently downloading it! I had to delete the vast majority of my downloads folder just to have enough disk space for it! I'm sure it's worth it though and I can't wait! :D
CE had footage of a guy in a Guy Fawkes mask and there was a guy wearing one wandering around near the main stage when we came out during Friendly Fires. Any chance that was Kirk or just some V for Vendetta fan?

I believe that's Matt in the picture. So it was probably Kirk wandering around the stage using the same mask, since he normally goes around the venue during gigs.

I disregarded the guy as a nobody :(
That was probably the whole idea.

Didn't CE have the words MK Ultra come on the screen too? Or was that another song?
Either way it got me excited thinking we might hear it later on :$

I agree and disagree about the visuals.
New Born, Bliss, Space Dementia, Hyper Music, Micro Cuts, Screenager, Darkshines and Megalomania were awesome.
Plug In Baby, Citizen Erased and Feeling Good were not. Plug In Baby used the usual rotating multiscreen which is boring, Citizen had no visuals at all and Feeling Good looked completely out of place with its birds and the bees type visuals.
New Born was amazing though, the visuals really complimented the speed of the song.
It was just zooming in and out of the word 'ROXY' wasn't it?

Yup, but it represented the album artwork and fit the song well.
The Feeling Good visuals, however, we just recycled and jarred with the aesthetic of the other visuals.

As BBC cut nearly all the OOS set, I was prompted to compile this DVD to include the songs that were cut using my own and other fans footage to have the whole set of this memrable gig.
The songs highlighted above are the ones I have edited myself, and the rest is proshot material shown on TV. Included in the proshot is more wideshots of the stage to show off the impress graphics that werent given much attention to on TV.
Audio for the edits was supplied by myself, and the rest is standard audio as broadcast on TV with the proshots.
A big thankyou to all footage donaters, the footage is brilliant.
The Menu is a moving animation of the Microcuts backing video made by Dukenatty.
This DVD has been edited by myself solely for Muse fans to enjoy, and is not to
be bought or sold. This DVD is FREE to all.
