As i don't come across many people who play the sims, can i ask you what you like about it? Do you not find micro-managing a computer family tedious?

I like building and furnishing the houses the most, I'm like Linda Barker, but not as punchable....
The last expansion pack was wicked though, I had fun turning my neighbours into toads and making women love me. Especially funny when they start lezzing it up in the Vibromatic Love bed!

You can pick for them to either shag or try for a baby. The men can get abducted and give birth to alien babies! You only know when they are up the stick when they start puking and putting on weight!

yay sims fans :) I'm pre-ordering my TS2 soon too
Oooh I really want the new expansion pack now, is it worth getting it? I have all the other except the 1st 2, and most of my neighbourhood are superstars. I like taking out my stress on them and making them suffer, mwahahaha....
Oo sims2 I haven't heard about this, hmm i'm out of touch with the games.
I do like the sims but they can become repetitive...unless you get the expansion packs I suppose or want to cause havoc and just set them on fire...
I bro did get the superstar one that was pretty groovy...
(I just cheat anyway and just get loads of money without working...)

Just bought this yesterday and i got the game and the guide for £8.49 :p I traded in 5 of my old games in for The Sims 2 at Game and i had a £4.50 voucher so i used that to take money off the guide, i wasn't even planning to buy it but something that should have cost £53 in total, how could i resist? Anyways, the game is amazing! It was running slow to begin with but because, me being the sutpid person i am didn't have a driver installed from the last time i formatted the PC. Amazing game though

Here is my review that I did on some other site:
The two main new points are Aspiration (and with it Wants and Fears) and Generations.
Each Sim has one of 5 aspirations (unless they are a baby, toddler or child in which case their aspiration is to grow up) which govern their wants and fears. These wants and fears appear in the Live Mode tab and may be something along the lines of "meet someone new" or "have a baby" or "gain a logic skill point". Fears can be things such as "death of a relative" or even "throw up". When a want is fulfilled then the Sim's aspiration goes up as shown by the aspiration meter. If you get enough aspiration you go platinum and automatically have perfect mood, regardless of what the mood bars are actually at. The meter gradually fades down over time so you have to keep fulfilling wants in order to keep it up. Wants and Fears also gain or lose a certain amount of aspiration rewards which can be spent on certain objects like Money Trees or a rather strange thing which maxes out your mood. you also get job rewards if you reach the top of a career.
Sims now live and die like a real human being. They have a certain number of days at each stage (meaning that a toddler can become a child before being potty trained) which you have to try and put in everything for their development at that stage of life. When two Sims have a child the appearance of the child is determined by the DNA of the parents and their ancestors.
Other changes include days of the week (so that Sims have certain days off), homework for children/teenages which you have to make them complete else they get detention, choice of meals for people to cook when you click on the fridge, having to keep your fridge stocked up by ordering groceries, being able to make friends on the computer with instant messaging, new Sim customization options meaning that you can create a Sim that looks very similar to almost anyone, the new 3D graphics which are very impressive and loads of other things which I either haven't mentioned or even found.
Even if you were not a great fan of the original you may well like this game. I suggest that you go and buy this game as soon as you can. Unless you can only afford one game in a while in which case you should wait for Half-Life 2 to come out!

i bought The Sims 2 the other week and it lets you put your own mp3's in the game to play on the radio.... so i have put loads of Muse mp3's in there.

But I rarely had Muse in the Sims 1. It was quick 3 minute long songs like The Pixies and stuff

While playing a game, press [Ctrl] + [Shift] + C and enter "klapaucius;:" as a code. Then, hold [Enter] so that "No such cheat" begins to flash. Keep the key held to gain up to 99 million simolians.

Wasn't that the Original Sims though? All the other expansion packs and I think the Duluxe version use 'Rosebud' instead. And you could add as many ';!' to the end of it THEN do ';:'. You'll get more money on each time you press Enter

Apparently there is a boolprop cheat which makes them age faster, does anyone know what it is?
Do a search on http://thesims2.ea.com in the BBS section, there are quite a few guides and stuff... I haven't tried it myself...
I didn't think of making Muse, I might have a go at that!

Cant wait for Sims 3. I hear they are putting in a voodoo function so you can make people from real life and subject them to your darkest desires. the problem is, youll need a usb cable to plug into the very fabric of existance, and ive heard theese are hard to find, and are expensive/unreliable.
as for cheats for most games go to:
www.gamefaqs.com
usually comes up with the gold.

Ah that'll be why. They were too busy making sure the DS stocks were alright. Not a sign of a new sims game, I thought that was a bit weird.
Funniest thing I heard yesterday was a guy working in gamestation saying to a customer who'd only just realised that it was a touch screen - "omg where on earth have you been for the past few months, its like the biggest thing around!" In a really really arsey voice. I smirked and walked out of the shop.
I hate twats like that, especially seeing as that's probably the only thing he knows about it at all.
Ask him a question about another console and he'll be like "Well...uh... it's my lunch break, gotta go!".

you will need both the Sims2 and University expansion pack, if that's a problem let me know and I'll make them as adults instead of young adults (did this so I could have them in the University expansion pack)
I'm also in the process of creating some Muse Pictures & Merchindise for Sims2... as well as other bands for whatever might happen in the future on the Muse SimsTV show haha

I might be getting Sims University for my birthday, so I'll dl your ones if I do. I made my own Matt last week but it was quite shitty. I didn't like Sim City (the latest one). It was good at first, and then everyone left my city and I was in debt etc. :( Gits. Some of the newer ones have been a bit harder, it's taken alot longer to make a decent profit and make a nice city.
I like dealing with large incidents, once a fire broke out and I didn't have enough firefighters to deal with it.
I ended up taking the only option I could...
Destorying a line of houses across the city and filling it with water so the fire wouldn't spread, then leaving the rest of the city to burn...
It sounds bad, but otherwise I'd have lost the entire city. :(

A game like The Sims should even theroetically suck balls, it's a huge game and you can't do more than one thing at a time on a console like the DS. It's just fail :noey:

Sorry to disappoint but Sims 2 SUCKS for the DS.
It's not the same at all! My girlfriend got it as shes an avid huge Sims fan, and we both we're gutted.
I borrowed the original Sims off her this weekend, so I can upload that to my laptop and not experience slow speeds; unlike TS2 :)
I've got TS2 Castaway for DS and I'm really enjoying it! It's not the same as TS2 PC games but fun anyway.

ARHG don't get seasons, I love it but it's taken controll all my other expansion packs. HELP!
I have University, Pets and Seasons. Got them in that Order. University and Pets work when both are installed, but as soon as I installed Seasons I can play both Pets and Uni on my Seasons disk, but I can't play Pets or Uni, even with the disk. If I just try to play Uni, with the Uni disk, it doesn't load at all. Same with Pets, and this happens both on my pc and laptop. GGRR!
Have tried reinstalling Seasons, but no luck, same with Uni.
Any help would be great.
I just bought and played Sims 2 for the first time in my life today. I'm sucha hardcore n00b.
I also have Night Life but haven't played it yet. Out of all of them was that the best expansion pack to get/start off with?

Pets because you get to have pets:LOL:
Depends what you want from the expansion pack?
Open for buisness is good for opening your own buisness and also having more customisable resturants etc.

Nightlife - cars, pleasure aspiration, new downtown area
Seasons - weather, interactivity with the weather, awesome new careers
University - adds a whole new teenage age group, and university can be a lot of fun
Freetime and Bon Voyage aren't bad either and can be quite fun, but I think the above are essential

Actually, don;t get nightlife, unless you want more furniture and such... If you only really want cars, you can download them off of the sims2 website. :]
I'd go with seasons or bon voyage, though.

But I thought Nightlife allows the feature for cars? If you just got them off the sims 2 website won't they just be objects without the function working if you didn't have Nightlife? if you get me..?

No, just visit the website. They give it away the feature for free as a download, and it works. It should be under objects.

Yes, I know it sounds nerdy and stupid but this baby someone got won't grow up >_<
Yesterday it said that his birthday would be in a day, so my after a day your sim 'helps the baby to grow up' but nothing happened over and over again.
I got aging on, and with the Boolproptestingcheats when you do Simmodder Set Age, make baby Todler doesn't work either and you can't select the baby.
So did everyone else have this and what can I do
If anybody knows of course :')
Buy a birthday cake and hold the baby. Click the cake, theres an option to make the baby grow up :)

I tried, but it seem to do the 'Holding baby' option again after the mum blew out the candles :l.
It's getting on my nerves seriously, I want it to grow up and I'm not gonna kill it :(

Hm. Found this which might help:
Try feeding the baby first, often if the motives are low the age transition will not happen. If this doesn't work, try typing boolprop testingcheatsenabled true into the cheat console, then shift click the baby. There should be an option to 'set to birthday'. Click on that, then click the baby (no shift) and choose 'grow up'. This should help.
There would be a mod called The Insimenator to help where all you do is spawn an object and click a button, but the site has been down for quite a while now due to some financial problems :( If you can find this, it'll work.

My baby grew up btw
I used the husband to help with a cake and finally he was a toddler :')
Ugh I always cheat and make them grow up right away. Or kill them. I don't like the Baby, Toddler and Child stages.
Haven't played in ages, hmm. Maybe I should.

I haven't played The Sims 2 in a while either. I can't wait for Sims 3 though! I think it's out in February.

Isn't there some code so you can decide that your baby is a girl or a boy?

Theres also like a huge community on Live Journal called something like 'simslegacy' and they do some cool stuff like legacies where everyone has the same sim to start off with, and then weekly show whats happened..., and just small stuff like that which make it a bit more fun.

I honestly think that come Friday and the release of TS3, I'll still be playing TS2 (a view that doesn't go down well on the official EA boards).
I want to reach Generation 30 on my legacy dammit! :p I'm only at 28.
Wow, well done.
I had a dream that I hated TS3 the other night =/ I just didn't like the neighbourhood and how open it was. I hope this isn't true

I wish I could play TS3 :( I doubt my PC could handle it, and I know my netbook would probably burst into flame if I tried it on there

What are your specs?
My PC is pretty much bare minimum, only 0.2GHz over the required processing speed (1.8GHz Core 2 Duo/2.4Ghz Pentium 4) and 0.5GB of RAM over the requirement for Vista desktops (1.5GB)... still, I somehow manage to run all the other games on here without it bursting into tears so I should be alright. :p
I wish I was more excited. I only bothered to pre-order because the mother kindly offered to pay for it, and I want that plumbob shaped USB flash memory drive.
