RATM and Chris Cornell hate each other. The only reason they stick together is because of the success of Audioslave. But diehard RATM hate Chris Cornell's lyrics and diehard Chris Cornell fans hate that RATM ruin his more natural style he had with Soundgarden and with his solo career.

All you have just described is pure shit and proves you don t know a damn thing about this band .
First, Chris Cornell and the other three are TRUE FRIENDS .
That s the main reason why they re still together and did enjoy a great success with their first album and long worldwide tour .
They "hate" each other so much they did write 21 songs in 19 days when they first meet up LMAO .
Second, Tom Morello has said how much it was great to work with Cornell and how they did mesh together greatly .
For instance, when they were with Zach he was NEVER with the rest of the band for recording the songs on the albums .
The rythmic section has to basically play their stuff and then Zach s voice would be put on it afterwards...
Also, i m what you re calling a "die hard" RATM s fan (i ve just seen the last dvd and yeah it rocks) and as my nick can state, i m also a fan of Slave and have seen them twice last year in Paris .
And yes they were "hating" each other so much on stage and backstage they were smiling to each other and joking all along how strange...
The new album will come this year and will rock the world again .

Thanks for telling the truth Llama :)
Simone is probably really frustrated in her poor life for being agressive like that against Slave and me lol
Audioslave are an awesome band (especially live), Chris Cornell is a beautiful songwritter (Like A Stone is a gem) and Tom Morello is still the best guitarist alive (for me) .
They ve showed great chemistry on gigs and are really great human beings outside .
A great band here to stay .

However good they are is down to opinion. I can see what Simone is saying as having seen both Soundgarden and Rage at various points in their careers the chemistry for Audioslave is nothing like it was for the two seperate bands.
A great band here to stay .
I doubt that very much. Another 2 albums max
I've heard their album, but I don't think I would buy it.

I was just defending myself against someone which is agressive with me, what should I do : saying "thank you for insulting and bashing me just because i m saying you re a liar ?"(and she is about Slave it s obvious)
However good they are is down to opinion. I can see what Simone is saying as having seen both Soundgarden and Rage at various points in their careers the chemistry for Audioslave is nothing like it was for the two seperate bands.
What she is basically saying is that Slave are a fake band from start to finish which is totally wrong
I've seen them backstage and talked a lot with them and if what she is calling "marketing stuff" then it s really GOOD s one IMO ...
Also did you see them "live" for saying they don t have chemistry at all ?
I ve seen them twice (i ve already seen RATM s twice in the past) and i can tell you they have a pretty good chemistry now .
Chris is all smiling and singing alongside the three others and it s a real blast to catch 4 great musicians at their best .
I doubt that very much. Another 2 albums max
That s YOUR opinion not mine .
The first album has been a huge success all around the world (especially in the US and Australia) and the band is ultra popular .
They re gonna last for a long time if you ask me .
And that s great cause they just simply rock :)
And could you also ask "simone" what makes me a "ragian asshole"

I'm so flattered that Audioslave Inc and Llama hate me so much that they want to kick my "dirty, garbage ass" That's really classy. Maybe it's because they know me so well in REAL LIFE.
I happen to love Soundgarden more than any band that has ever existed, (maybe even more than MUSE and radiohead!) And Chris's solo record is so perfect...
I've had the Audioslave cd for a long time, and it's a pretty good cd.
I read some stuff on the chriscornell website a long time ago about chris cornell and his new boys having a lot of creative differences. (in a negative way)
No big deal, I hope no-one slits their wrists just thinking about how much they want to slit mine. ;)

I was worried about it when i first heard of the band forming. I was a huge RATM fan and a casual Soundgarden fan. I think there were som demos played or released a while back and thought... jeez.. this is pretty mediocre.
But the album kept getting better everytime i heard it. The don't have the same intensity that RATM had for live shows but that's ok.. cuz this isn't supposed to be RATM. Audioslave still rocks live.

ok. I guess I'll just type exactly what I typed in the previous audioslave thread, which went a little like "Soundgarden and Rage are definitely better bands than audioslave is. I still think Audioslave is good, one of the better bands in the world, but not half as good as rage, or a fifth as good as Soundgarden. Rage's music just went better with a rapper, and Chris Cornell's lyrics just go way better with better co-musicians. Not sayin' Tom Morello is bad. The guitar solo on "Shadow of (or on) the Sun" is one of the coolest ones I've heard in a while, maybe ever, but I don't want to push it. But, have you guys listened to the solos on tracks 10 and 12? Now, those are some cool songs to listen to, but those guitar solos are the worst noises that a guitar can make. I wouldn't find it hard to believe Simone about the creative differences between the band members when I hear those. It's like he's purposefully sabotaging the music to get back at Chris for something. Now, I dont want people replying to me saying that Tom's a guitar god, or anything like that. I know he's good...but he can be really terrible too. and if you haven't heard the tracks Im talking about please dont argue with me here. He can be excellent, and he can be absolutely miserable makes-me-wanna-skip-the-whole-song bad."
That's about all I gotta say. Be cool homies.

what i WOULD like to see from the next audioslave album is more cornell or guitar, backing up morello, and cornell trying to top his greatest vocals to date - temple of the dog. That was his finest accomplishment vocally... so go on chris, lets see what u can do :p (he is a legend)

Of course they re great and are deserving every inch of their current success .
Hum i don t think Cornell can back up such a genius like Morello and it s not necessary .
When you have Tom Morello why should you play guitar ? The guy is so much above the rest of the mass .
As for the new album, i hope more "experimentation" like "Hypnotize" on the first one .
Oh and more Morello s solos of course

these bands all rock, why not just consider they've got their own style that each has the right to love or not
it is really stupid to bash other people because they don't have the same tastesn hey let's respect difference !
as for myself I really love Audioslave, I saw them once live and I couldn't even believe I was really there
and I agree with Audioslave INc, how could people who don't get on well, play so good, with such an harmony on stage ?
Tom is a fabulous guitar player and Chros has the most wonderful voice
their songs rock, and it's really a blast after hearing such stupid and boring music on the radio

"Today (March 9) in Los Angeles, international media were played six new songs from AUDIOSLAVE's as-yet-untitled sophomore album, set for release on May 17 in the U.S. on Interscope. The first single, "Be Yourself", will be sent to radio within the next couple of weeks and an accompanying video, yet to be shot, will follow in April, BLABBERMOUTH.NET can reveal.
The album will have 12 tracks in total, including the following confirmed titles: "Be Yourself", "Doesn't Remind Me", "Out of Exile", "The Curse", "#1 Zero", "Your Time Has Come".
AUDIOSLAVE, who are currently mixing the album, are still considering which other six songs to put on the disc. The band has recorded 22 tracks in total."

That link doesn't work, but having heard the song on radio and music channels, it's easily my favourite song they've done.
Although I know lots of people would disagree, I thought Audioslave's debut album was good, but not as good as it should have been with such an incredible lineup. Be Yourself is the quality I was hoping for :)

yeah, that link was for a stream of 'Your Time Has Come', possibly the 2nd single... and it rocks. Unfortunately the stream was put up early by accident, and they took it down pretty quick.
But, from me... its rockier than 'Be Yourself', but still kinda upbeatish  As someone said, this could be the soundtrack for our summers.

And from the advanced stuff I've heard from the new album, it sounds very varied... and everything points to it being a fantastic album. (Doesn't Remind me sounds cool... and Drown Me Slowly is Cornell's favourite song on the new album, so thats one to look forward to.)

Not being a Soundgarden fan and not liking the Rage singer that much but still listenable, this band was the best of both worlds. Chris Cornell singing "Killing In The Name" was mind blowing! I saw Audioslave last night! and   OMG!!! It was absolutely incredible. Not being a Soundgarden fan and not liking the Rage singer that much but still listenable, this band was the best of both worlds. Chris Cornell singing "Killing In The Name" was mind blowing! They do Soundgarden songs as well as RATM songs as well as their own. If they come near you i highly recommend seeing them.

My God! Wow! Superb!
Mikey and I were discussing that the other day, whether they'd do some Rage or not. Did they do any Soundgarden tunes?
Exactly what I was thinking. I would love to hear Chris sing that song, even though there's not much to it.

Yeah they did Spoonman and Chris did Black Hole Sun on the acoustic with just him on stage. And it certainly was "My God! Wow! Superb!" Here's the setlist:
01. Set it Off
02. Exploder
03. Your Time Has Come
04. Like a Stone
05. Spoonman
06. Doesn't Remind Me
07. Gasoline
08. Out of Exile
09. Be Yourself
10. Bulls on Parade/Sleep Now in the Fire
11. Outshined
12. Shadow on the Sun
Encore
13. Black Hole Sun
14. I am the Highway
15. Show Me How to Live
16. Killing in the Name
17. Cochise
I even thought that KITN was better than Cochise as an end song. And also in KITN the balcony above me was shedding some pieces off it. Took some home as a souvenior. :D

If you want bootlegs, I've heard <cough> that the D.C. show from the 1st of May was recorded. They have all those covers and new songs - Doesn't remind me, drown me slowly, your time has come and be yourself.
To find this bootleg, you need DC++. The Audioslave Hub 'might' be found by going to www.audioslaved.com, and looking in the forum over there.

They're definitely one of the better bands out there right now.....That said, i don't like them that much, but it's mostly not their fault. The local radio stations (the alternative stations, i guess) play the HELL out of Audioslave like they're the next coming of Led Zeppelin or something.
Don't get me wrong, I get some joy out of their music, but how much radio play they're getting is not proportionate to their music, imo.

Listening on Myspace now...so far I pretty much like every track, some of which are brilliant. Contrasts to the 1st Audioslave album, which I stopped listening to halfway through...
I also think this album will massively grow on me.
Also, any guitarist should own this album. Morello's solo's sound (to me) better then anything he's ever done in RATM.

I would say it is vastly vastly better then their 1st album. No offence to the die-hard audioslave fans, but that first album was pretty shit considering who is in the band. A few good songs, but not a good album.

Not sure whether it's Cornell or the guys getting old, but it's horribly middle of the road considering how alternative RATM were. Eh, got a few good tunes on it from what I can work out from the first few listens.

"seems a bit poo" that was cute
Rage was soooo different from soundgarden. Very funky and great, yet much less complicated musically than soundgarden. It still makes absolutely no sense to me that the two chose to merge. I find it sick..heheh. anyway,
I've heard a few songs from the new Audioslave record and something I've noticed is that Chris's voice sounds much better. much smoother, less of that stupid screaming he usually does. probably because he has had to retrain himself how to sing after he hurt himself--(he almost lost his voice permanently a year or so ago right? and had to have surgery or voice therapy or something)
Although Soundgarden was 100X better than Audioslave, I'll still buy Audioslave records because that music is still better than most crap on the radio... and I need to support Chris's projects. RATM were great too, but in a totally different way that cannot be realized without a rapper as a front man.

I think Zack brought out the more alternative elements of Morrellos style, and the funkier elements of hip-hop helped too. I think Kim had a similar effect on Cornell. Its sad that two of the truly great alternative bands of the nineties have become everything their music once rebelled against.
Also- THE SOLOS IN THIS ALBUM ARE NOT UP TO THE MORRELLO STANDARD. Too much half arsed shredding. The big redeeming feature of the last album was the awesome solos- whats gone wrong?

true. It's not that their music is bad, it's just that it gets old too fast. and these individuals should have better standards than that.

RATM fans and Soundgarden fans desparately want to love audioslave. The problem you haven't seemed to observe even after all these posts in the thread is that WE GET TIRED OF LISTENING TO AUDIOSLAVE RECORDS TOO FAST. THAT IS THE PROOF WE CANNOT CHANGE OR IGNORE. If the music was fantastic, we'd keep listening and no one would complain. Most Audioslave's songs don't come close to "Down On the Upside" or Euphoria Morning. There are a few (potentially) great songs on each Audioslave album, but the greatness cannot be realized with this mix of people.

yeah someone said they wrote 19 songs in 21 days or something like that? WEll that's great, but you can sort of tell it on the record(s).......there's almost no depth to them, and makes the sound wear out after a while. The reasons I like bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Mars Volta, Muse, Radiohead, and even Soundgarden at times, there's a reason to keep listening to the songs. Sometimes the songs even sound better the more you listen to them, which is what I think great bands are capable of

With this new album, I love "the curse" because it's done in such a similar style to Chris's songs from Euphoria morning.
The first two songs on the album are a disgrace because you could directly dub them onto certain parallel songs from Audioslave's first album :indiff: --> in the same way people do with Nickelback songs   . "Be yourself" is very similar to material from the first album, but I like that song anyway :D --chris seems to have good control over his voice in it. I've listened to other songs on the new album and I think some are quite good. I haven't listened more than once and haven't bothered to memorize which is which yet. but, we'll see.

After around 10 listens to it, I'm still enjoying the album. My favourite song keeps changing, which is always a good sign. At the moment it's the curse.
I don't understand how people are criticising morello's solo's. To me they're interesting and creative, and arguably better then the ones he did in rage, as they fit the songs better instead of jarring or seeming like showing off as sometimes happened on the rage albums. I don't care if some of them 'don't have much going on in them', in my opinion that often leads to better solos; my favourite is the simple one on 'the curse' because of the mood it evokes.
Cornell's singing and lyrics are also damn good.
Maybe the only thing I don't like as much is the more ''straightforward'' rock songs on the album. I could live without the first 2 tracks, as while there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, I like it when the band is being more creative, instead of (like bands like ac/dc), being content with just producing very good rock music.

Debating what was more dangerous, wandering around London till my 5.43am train, or being in that mosh pit - I mean, i was unscathed, but looking at the cut on my brother's face... lol....
A few points...
The Worm: how good did that sound live... I can actually listen to the studio version and fully appreciate it now... great performance.
Show Me How To Live: Classic rock mosher, that was fun, so energetic... and you could feel the band's energy in the crowd.
Killing in the name/Cochise: Talk about going out with a bang.
Loud Love: Never thought I was going to hear this song live until audioslave started touring it, which was nice.
Be Yourself: Just watching the band pushed all the words of the doubters of this song out of my head, they loved it... i loved it.
Call me a Dog: Well that's fair enough... :p
Also, a cunning tactic by the band, put a god awful band on first, to make them look even better by comparison. Smoooooth.
Oh, and to the girl I hugged at the end... sorry 'bout that; after that setlist, I cannot have been the most pleasant person to be in the immediate vicinity of, lol.

- I think thats a load of rubbish to be fair. The first audioslave album has some of the finest rock tracks written in the last 5 years on it. Show me How to Live is riff avec singing...I think it works! The reason I support them so much is because Zack was one dimensional, sure he gave passion but the last 3 rage albums were EXACTLY the same as the first! ... they were hardly prolific either? an album of covers????bloody Westlife does shit like that!

I love the bluesy solos of Heavens dead and on the first album getaway car aswell!the redeeming feature of the ladt album was the exceptional lyrics of Chris Cornell, read anyones lyrics today and theyre a load of shit (matt bellamy to a self confessed extent to included) ... plus...the delivery from Chris cornell (rocks greatest voice at the moment) set that album apart from the rest!

Saw Audioslave on the 21st and, wow. Mainly because I never thought I'd actually see Rage songs performed live, but fuck me that was an amazing gig. The pit was ever so slightly horrible (half of it topless by the 4th song or something) but still great fun. I have a new found respect for the band, after not really thinking that much of the new album. It definitely sounds better live.

Just went to a gig Friday night and it was awesome. Morello did not let me down as I expected and I loved both the Rage and Soundgarden covers. Everyone went crazy when they played the Rage stuff especially on Killing in the Name Of.

In a recent interview with RollingStone.com, Tom Morello described REVELATIONS as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire," adding that it's a "big hard rock record with a funky bottom." Among the album's many highlights is the groove-driven lead single, "Original Fire," and "Wide Awake," about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "It's probably Audioslave's most political song to date," says Morello.
AUDIOSLAVE recorded REVELATIONS at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien. O'Brien, whose myriad credits include Pearl Jam and Bruce Spingsteen, mixed Audioslave's Out of Exile record and the Live in Cuba CD and DVD. His history with the band goes back even farther, as he produced Rage Against The Machine albums Evil Empire (1996), The Battle of Los Angeles (1999) and Renegades (2000) and mixed Soundgarden's Superunknown (1994).
REVELATIONS follows 2005's Out of Exile, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 and featured the Grammy nominated single "Doesn't Remind Me."
The full track-listing for REVELATIONS is as follows:
"Revelations"
"One And The Same"
"Sound of a Gun"
"Until We Fall"
"Original Fire"
"Broken City"
"Somedays"
"Shape of Things To Come"
"Jewel of the Summertime"
"Wide Awake"
"Nothing Left To Say But Goodbye"
"Moth"
AHHHHHH! we had it first!

After one listen I really just wasn't too impressed. Usually after listening to it a few times it starts to grow but the biggest standout song is The Moth by far.
They'll never match the greatness of their first album either.

I think it's their best work to date imho. 3/10 is taking the piss.
I absolutely love the first 2 tracks. I kind of feel the last few tracks drag on a bit, it is growing on me.
Chris's voice really does come through on this album, it was later explained on the documentary dvd that someone else other than himself, which is what usually happens, did the recording & mastering for his vocals.

Yeah how can you give this album 3/10 is beyond me considering they give Razorlight 10 probably even though they are about as musically talented as a cher with a kazoo.
Hmm I've only heard the single off this 3rd album. Does it move back towards the first album or progress from the second album stylee of stuff?

Well I got home from work today and had my first listen, I was quite tired at the time so I wasn't in the best frame of mind to be listening to it but of what I heard of it I wasn't overly impressed by. Just to get some perspective I thought the 1st album was amazing 2nd where all great tracks too so im hoping its a grower cos this bands one of my all timers.
Was a little disappointed they didn't carry on the bonus live track from the second album I thought that was a nice touch, especially it being Like a stone!
I'll end up loving it tho!

I found Revelations to be dreadful. That said Audioslave never really compelled me in the same way that Muse used to and The Mars Volta does, but I did like the first album and the second one was OK. Revelations: :noey:
I prefer Rage Against The Machine.
I have the first Audioslave album and i don't like it that much, but if Revelations is alot better than i'll definately buy it.

Instead of always saying "bah RATM was better" catchphrase which is pretty old right now why not just properly listening to the album a few times before ?
The new one has a "funky" "groovey" feeling to it which reminds me the b side "we ve got the wimp" a lot and that s a good thing .
Tom Morello inspiration is at his best here (in slave era) and he delivers again tremendous solos of his own .
Tim C bass work and also backing vocals are strong and he does a beautiful rythmic pair with the excellent Brad Wilk .
Cornell seems more confident in his singing (well far more than "live" which is obviously not his forte imo) and he mixes better with the powerful and amazing section he is playing with now .
to me One Or The Same and Sound Of The Gun are the best songs out of "Revelations" and i can t wait to watch and listen to them live next year .

The first album was definitely their best (one of the best albums of 2002 in my humble opinion)
Still, I quite like Revelations (it's much better than Out of Exile, which got me a bit worried I must say)
Revelations, Sound of a Gun, Somedays and Shape of Things to Come (I ADORE this one) are my fave songs

Revelations is one of the greatest songs EVER made .
Can't get enough of it
I have to admit the other songs grew old and are not that great apart from great rythmic and the lyricals are random and average but Chris sings well anyway .
The title song is a gem and is currently ranking in my top 10 fave songs of all time
Here are my top Audioslave Songs ever :
1/ Revelations
2/ The Worm
3/ Be Yourself
4/ One And The Same
5/ Man Or Animal
