shit so it is, i thought my itunes was labeled perfectly, damn.
Argghhhh labeling iTunes, you spend a whole evening tagging your songs and afterwards you still find out it's full of errors, I know the feeling  How often do I choose to play a song on my MP3-player, and then find out it's a totally different song. Recently I chose an Aerosmith song and got Lady Gaga instead

But yes, I really love the song too. And the video is weird, if I remember well. I should look it up again.

Download looked freaking awesome from the crowd vids that I saw, and my friend said it was better than Muse at Wembley last year haha
I'm really liking that they're playing so many songs from Toxicity, easily their best! And Bounce and Forest are sounding great live.
Really hope they come to Australia soon for Big Day Out or their own tour

Lol, I don't get the whole Mr Jack thing, what band would ever soundcheck with a song they never play?!
But I agree, we have no reason to complain, 29 songs - even if some of the songs are short: what band will give you that!? Most gigs I go to are about 18 to 20 songs. The tour was awesome and when I read John's post on facebook, it seems like he's pretty confident that it wasn't their last.

I'm guessing they'll probably do BDO next year.
I was going to say the same thing. I'm actually pretty sure they'll do BDO, they are hinting that this wasn't the end of the tour and it's obvious that they can't just skip Australia. I just wonder what they're going to do in between. Not just Rock in Rio, I guess...
In the meantime I'm really starting to have fun reading John's facebook posts. He seems quite annoyed by all the "come to my country" posts, but in a funny way... In fact, he's making it even worse
sebby aka pup
26-06-2011, 11:45 AM
I hope they do BDO... except they wouldn't headline cause they're not that huge here, maybe 2nd or 3rd headliner which means they'd only get a 1hr set. So I'm kinda hoping for an arena tour instead.
And I also heard they were charging quite a bit for the European festivals?

Oh, no headliner in Australia? Didn't expect that... It would suck to finally see them, but only for an hour!
And yeah about the festivals, that's what I heard too. Apparently, the organiser of the Pinkpop festival said in an intverview that SOAD wasn't coming because they're "too expensive". And Pinkpop isn't what I'd call q small festival with no budget :erm:
They also didn't play Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium, a festival where I REALLY expected them to play. Same with Pukkelpop festival. It only makes me think even more they were too expensive, because I can't believe a festival like Graspop (or even Pukkelpop) wouldn't have tried to book them. They could be headliner on both festivals and both are amongst the bigger festivals in Europe.
One Swei Tres
26-06-2011, 04:36 PM
I didn't know that they charging a lot to play.:erm:
I just did a search and they played 16-17 songs at BDO 2005.
ils13
26-06-2011, 08:48 PM
16-17 songs doesn't seem very much to me, the average SOAD song is rather short, no?
One Swei Tres
27-06-2011, 03:34 AM
I'm guessing it was because of the time they were given.
Maybe at next year's BDO they'll even out the short setlist with rarities.
sebby aka pup
27-06-2011, 09:40 AM
Yeah, I can't see them playing more than 17-18 songs in an hour when they have been playing about 26 in these 1hr 30mins sets at the European festivals.
I'd love to see some rarities, but because I've never seen SOAD live before I'd be perfectly happy with a set full of singles...
ils13
27-06-2011, 04:40 PM
It sucks for the Australian fans but I'm afraid that if they only get to play a one hour set, they will leave out all the rarities and only play "hits". It's a festival, so that's what a lot of bands do: play the most popular songs that everyone will like, not just the fans.
On the other hand, SOAD isn't just "any" band, maybe they simply refuse to play a one hour set (or shorter), wherever they go? I think they're in that position to be able to do that, nowadays, especially after the hiatus.
One Swei Tres
28-06-2011, 05:35 AM
I think SOAD will find a way to squeeze in one or two rarities in.
sebby aka pup
28-06-2011, 10:44 AM
The promoter of Soundwave Festival (the biggest punk/metal festival in Australia and the only other festival capable of booking SOAD) tweeted the other day that there's no chance of them coming here for his festival anytime soon...
With the apparent prices that Soad are charging as well, I really don't see it as being financially viable for the promoters of Big Day Out to book them as the 2nd or 3rd headliner as well....
So I'm thinking that leaves an arena tour as the most likely, however they have never done an arena tour of Australia. So it's not looking too good for me tbh..
ils13
28-06-2011, 04:38 PM
I'm still surprised that they wouldn't be big enough to put them as a headliner in Australia... When I see footage of their previous BDO performances: the crowd over there was just insane, it looks headliner-worthy to me :)
Plus, it's the "big comeback" (or that's how it's sold), so that suddenly makes them even more interesting than before the hiatus. AND they play better than ever :)
One Swei Tres
29-06-2011, 03:15 AM
I actually don't think that an Australian arena tour is that unlikely. They've been touring new places this year, like playing for the first time in Moscow. They're also going to play for the first time in South America at a festival in the fall.Maybe they'll decide to do their first Australian arena tour.

Depends. Did they get a new singer? ;)
It's still the same person but some people consider him a new singer, yes
No seriously, at the time he did sound raspy at times, mostly during live performances, because of all the screaming he did. I think he was more or less ruining his voice, often couldn't even sing right in the higher parts.
Nowadays he sings in a totally different way, and he doesn't sound raspy at all to me... Let's say from the Mezmerize/Hypnotize era, no raspy Serj anymore :) Some people like his "new" voice, others think he sucks now because he doesn't sound as "cool" anymore. I'm somewhere in between. I liked the raspy sound, but there are performances from let's say 2001-2002, in which he just sounds horrible and I have a sore throat only from listening to it. Now at least he sings it all right, without any effort it seems.
If you really want to hear him "sing", check out the "Elect The Dead Symphony" videos on YouTube ;)

You should see it  (or I'll post some vids here later)
Yeah they're co-headlining with Slipknot, but Soad will be the last band to play. They're getting a 90 min set according to the festival organizer!
90 mins, not bad! SOAD songs are rather short so you'll get a nice setlist :) And for us, there's hope for some good footage again, cause Rock In Rio was a disappointment for that

Okay here I am already with some of those Lowlands videos :D

Especially at 1:42 I have to laugh every single time

--> some improvising while they were having technical difficulties...
Lol, Daron: "this sucks, and so do we!"
Oh, and the beginning of Bounce was funny too:

Well the Rock am Ring set was 90 mins, so if we get something similar to that I'll be very happy!
I don't think Soundwave gets broadcast unfortunately...

I've seen those Lowlands videos before,Daron was so mad during that concert because of the guitar problems.Hadn't seen the performance of Bounce though.:chuckle:
Australia show hasn't been posted on the Soadomized site.Great to hear that they're going to get to play for 90 minutes.Shame that it won't be broadcasted.I'm predicting Australia to get Mr. Jack and Spiders.
Also found this today.

^^Wow, so much energy. Great! That must have been a great performance, I've seen other clips too from Reading 2003 and they're all really cool. And Serj's voice was great too, that evening! Cause at the time, sometimes, his voice was just... :erm:
Too bad about soundwave festival not being broadcasted. But 90 minutes is almost a whole set sebby, it's going to be great  In Paris it was a full set and if I remember well that was 105 minutes. So those 15 minutes are not going to make such a difference ;)

Yeah I assume we'll get about 25-26 songs which is fine by me!
I just want to hear Bounce, Holy Mountains, Cigaro, Aerials and Hypnotize the most, and I reckon we'll get all those. Solider Side would be a dream but it seems they've stopped doing the one :(

Yes I think you'll get everything except Soldier Side maybe... But then again they keep changing their setlists a lot so you never know! I also wanted to hear Soldier Side in Paris, but didn't get it either. Also no Revenga or - what I wanted most of all - Mr Jack :( But I did get Darts and P.L.U.C.K.!
Oh well, whatever they play, it's always one big "best of"!

Oh yeah I read about that too, nearly forgot about it :D John also hinted at extra tour dates AND a new album, but the album wouldn't be before 2013 and about the tour he said he's not sure either because Serj is releasing his new solo album next summer and is supposed to go on tour after that, BUT he said another SOAD tour is also possible.
Here's the interview:

And here's an article that pretty much summarizes the above interview:

Seems like you think the exact same way as me. I was glad to hear John say that they'll only release new material when the time is right, and only when they feel they are able to make something just as good as or better than their previous work (don't remember how he said it exactly). To me that's how every artist should be. I'd rather have no album at all than a bad one. Even if that would mean they'll never ever make a new album again...
But it seems like that won't be the case with our dear old SOAD

Despite the fact that I already got "my" SOAD gig last summer, I'm still a bit jealous. Seriously, I had no big issues waiting for a new SOAD tour, but now that I finally saw them live, I want mooooooore

Apparently Joey Jordison played drums for Suite Pee while was John crowdsurfing in Melbourne, need to see the video of that.

I love a lot of the tracks on Hypnotize and Mezmerize, but I think they're held back by Daron being a bit too present on vocals. They're good records, but the weak tracks stop them reaching the sheer brilliance of Toxicity.

Past the first two albums I've found the albums to only have a few good tracks on them. Those two albums are fantastic, though.

I know what you mean. It's frustrating because the ingredients are largely the same but the silly songs are largely just irritating now. And thrown into contrast because when those albums throw out good songs, they're awesome- Holy Mountains, BYOB, Attack and Soldier Side. I still think they're good albums, but just not as good as what came before.

Just got back home from my trip to Melbourne. System show last night was the best gig I've ever been to. Joey did play drums while John crowd surfed. Was insane! Was on barrier after being 3rd in line and showing up at midday. Such a great sound and atmosphere, was honestly the best I've ever heard them play judging from Youtube and Soundwave Brisbane.
And I had a sign asking for a drumstick from John. Just before Sugar, Darron finally sees my sign, reads it out loud to the crowd (it said "Drumstick John?") and asked John to throw me a drumstick. So he did and I caught it and got massive cheers and pats on the back from everyone. One of the best moments of my life.
