yes another twilight thread

I recieved a text from a friend
"people who like twilight's opinions don't matter. So basically Muse's fanbase"

it was probably a wind up, but i'm making the poll anyway to see how many here are actually twilighters.

And I know most replies will be anti twilight, but that isn't the intention of the thread.

Hate's a bit strong. I don't think it's fair to say that about books I've never read or movies I've never seen. But I can safely assume it's not my thing from what I've heard about it.

In the books the author dedicates the books to her "favourite band"

But it's irrelevant. I'm just trying to find how many twilighters are here.

I fucking hate Twilight.

I had heard Muse in late 2007 ( i think it was Starlight?) but SMBH was the song that made me think "Hang on, these guys are good."

Never said I loved the movie. I watched the movie, hated it but loved the music.

So therefore, I hate Twilight, am not a Twatlighter, but mainly heard Muse through the movie itself.

To say that Muse's fanbase are all Twilighters would be to disregard the people who have been listening to Muse for the nine or so years before Twilight (movie) came out.
The Twilight fangirls who only know SMBH and IBTY make up a tiny fraction of Muse's fans and will have forgotten about the band by this time next year.

Right there ^. That's the "influence" Muse had on the books.

Honestly, I don't get why there are Muse fans who have to feel elitist and hate on the Twilighters. As long as people are listening to Muse, isn't that what it's all about?

Hate the silly fans who go to a gig just to hear SMBH but why hate the books and films just because Muse are on the soundtrack.
It seems to be the, ahem, less mature fans who are the rabid Twilight-haters.

I got the Twilight movie for my birthday and when I watched it, that's where I heard S'MBH for the first time... At the end of the DVD, they had a video about the song and I couldn't help myself but immediatly fall in love with their music.

My friend introduced me to Hysteria, then, it captured my attention, I bought Black Holes and Revelations and The Resistance that moment I could get to a music store. Listened to both CDs and they are awesome... I recently bought Absolution and I am looking forward to buying Origins Of Symmetry pretty soon.

I don't know if it is because of Twilight, but my love for MUSE ressembles the one I had for Dream Theater as a teenager... :)

That's my story.

You're missing used to like it, my addiction to Muse have never had anything to do with it, and I can't believe I fell for it, it makes no sense now...

I am pretty convinced they have printed the books with paper containing some kind of love potion that is released automatically when exposed to air. The only known antidote from this concoction is apparently the New Moon movie...

I love Muse, but I only like Twilight. I've been a Muse fan since my boyfriend introduced me to them at age 16, and I was into Twilight from reading the books before the movie rights had even been sold. It's cool that they included some Muse in the movies, since they inspired Stephenie Meyer so much, but the results are not so cool.

I have to admit, it's extremely annoying that all of these 14 year olds like Muse just because they have a song in each movie. They piss me off. They don't understand that Muse is a great band, and that the songs included in the movies aren't even their best work. They only say "OmFgZzZz MuSe iS dA BeStEsT bAnD eVuRr!" because they want to believe they're like Stephenie, or like Bella, or whatever their ridiculous fantasy is. Damn teeny-boppers with bad taste, they probably all love Justin Bieber too...

I've read the Twilight series, but I've known Muse before this whole thing with Twilight started. I'm a teenger (Screenager) and I read Twilight, but I never got into Muse from it, nor do I obsess over Twilight. I just thought, "Oh, that's cool an author likes Muse too." Me being a teenager (I prefer Screenager..) does not automatically make me a Twilight obsesser :p

Twilight was one of those book series that I read once and probably never read again. To be honest, yes it gets annoying when all these teenagers who love Twilight oh so much think they're all fans of Muse just because of Supermassive Black Hole used in the movie, but to me this is normal. You see, Twilight and all this craze is a Fad (No, not Fag , F-A-D, fad xDDD) and we all know that Fads come and go (sometimes come back...). So I think this whole craze will be over once all the books are made into movies. Which to me will be over fast because I think the third movie is coming out in July (?) Then the 4th would probably come out some time during the beginning of 2011. I don't keep track of these things.

Just my opinion anywayz...

Wellll, I think ima just say that my obsession with Twilight (which unfortunately came first) and my obsession with Muse are almost completely unrelated, other than the fact I first found Muse through Twilight. :p
I became addicted to the Twilight books about a month before the first film came out, saw the film and thought 'OMG TWILIGHT IT'S SO AMAZINGGG AHHHH' aka basic typical fangirl reaction (for the record I NEVER liked Robert Pattinson. Or Taylor Lautner. Or any of them.), but tbh I still remember the baseball scene (aka Muse's bit) as being the best bit of the movie :p. I remember thinking 'oh my god this song is amazing!' And then my friend sent me the soundtrack so I was all like ':awesome: Twilight music!'
'Then about 2 weeks later I saw the film again and thought 'my lord this is actually so bad it's funny!' but I was still in love with the books and stuff.. haha my friendpeoples were all as obsessed as me so we basically spent the rest of that year laughing at the characters :p
And throughout all this I was listening to the soundtrack and my 'Twilight Playlist', and SMBH was my favourite song.. I really wish I'd looked into the rest of their stuff sooner. :( I remember I found Apocalypse Please and Map of the Problematique and listened to them since SMBH was my top played song, but I thought they were really weird and never listened to them again. :(
Sooo.. my Twilight obsession kinda went away to just being 'I like the books but the film's so bad it's funny'. Then I kept hearing Uprising on the radio and thinking 'wowww I <3 this :awesome:', then when TR came out I bought that; listened to it once and thought 'this is weird. :stunned:; listened to it again and thought 'OMG THIS IS AMAZING!' and downloaded BH&R and Abso. A month later I saw them at Sheffield, and bought all their albums in actual CD format the next day. :p And ever since then I've just got more and more Muse obsessed..
So yeah, although SMBH was the first Muse song I fell in love with, I think it was more TR that got me into them.
It does annoy me that people still seem to think I'm totally Twilight obsessed (which I'm not). Also what annoys me is that they think that just because I like the books it automatically means I am completely in love with Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson or Jacob Black/Taylor Lautner. I'm not; I've never liked either of them.

If anyone actually read that, you should get a gold sticker and a banana. :D

I've read the books but haven't seen any of the films. I sort of liked the first book although I thought it was badly written. So I read the rest of the books as well and I still wonder why. What a waste of time it was for me. Well, maybe I'm not exactly in the target group :D I didn't vote because I don't hate Twilight or Twilighters. But I have to say I would love to see Muse associated with literature that would be on the same level with Muse artistically.

The Twilight books are actually pretty good; not that well written but very entertaining page-turners.
The hype has ruined them and many people won't read them because of it.
The movies are not so good. Actually New Moon is better than the first one, but they're not a great representation of the books.

thats a shock ive gotta say!

its hardly a sophisticatedly written set of books, but people take it too seriously. reading hasnt always got to be a slog, it doesnt hurt to read something for escapism once in a while, and the twilight series did that for me. the first time i read them i really loved them, and rereading them has made me like them less, but i still definately think they're really good. and i like the first film (first time i watched it i didnt so much, second time i did, third i loved it...its a grower). the second im undecided cos ive only seen it once lol. thing is though, i dont rate kristen stewart, she doesnt convey bella's sense of humour and i dont think shes capable of showing any other emotion than miserable lol

When Twilight came out in theaters I fell in love with it... I knew it wasn't written well but it was addicting, at the time anyway. I got the CD and heard Muse on it, but I didn't like them at all. I know, fail! Well, I had terrible music taste back then. Then when The Resistance came out I was on iTunes and it was like #3 album so I checked it out and I liked it. But I grew out of my Twilight phase. I have grown much distaste for it actually. And now I love SMBH. So I guess mine would be, "Liked Twilight, didn't like Muse, then hated Twilight, loved Muse." Or something like that.
Even when I liked Twilight I didn't understand why they played SMBH during baseball... it didn't make sense.

I heard of Muse through Twilight. :$ I thought the books were entertaining but poorly written. I kept meaning to check out Muse because the author praised them so much but I never got around to it. I HATED the movie though. A friend who got me into the books bought me the DVD when it came out & I watched SMBH at Wembley. I thought it was good, but it didn't make me want to run out & buy their CD. Then I heard TIRO on the radio a few weeks later & liked it so I decided to buy HAARP because I knew it had two songs on it that I already liked. MotP is the song that really blew my mind & made me realize the sheer genius of Muse. I ended up buying an album every payday until I had them all.
I hate it when people call them the Twilight band. It has actually put me off the whole Twilight thing. As someone else already posted, the "fans" who only know Muse songs from the movies will either forget about them in a year or so, or they'll buy an album and become true fans.

The only instance where something like this might annoy is if I am at a gig and looking for somebody to rock with... but no-one around me knows the song that is being played. I mean, this has never happened and I doubt it ever would. But it would annoy me greatly.

I love the fact that Stephanie Meyer is a muser but I don't really like the teen love story with a creepy stalker...
I hate TWILIGHT FANS
I know that not all of Twilight fans are so stupid like the ones that I have met...
Once I was talking with a girl about Twilight and she said: " Have you heard Muse of Twilight? I like Muse, the vampire is actually a very good singer"....
I WANTED TO KILL HER! X)
I was thinking: God... YOU IGNORANT! IT'S MATT BELLAMY! Not the vampire of Twilight...
Twilight fans are so ignorant! I hate the fact that people starting listening to Muse (at least in my country) because they have appeared in this movie that almost everybody loves... They only listen to SMBH and the worst is that they think that actually this song is about vampires or something
I've been following Muse for a long time, Twilight didn't even existed, and it really makes me angry that everybody starting listen to band I LOVE because of a movie and they don't know anything of them...

Gawd I hate Twilight :\ It's such a crappy vampire story IMO. I am so thankful to have known Muse without Twilight. Vampires are supposed to burn up in the sun. Not sparkle!! D:

I like it,but I didn't get into Muse from it. I've been a fan of Muse since I was in high school...so a good seven or eight years ago. My sister got me into Muse :D I'm almost as obsessed as her.

I liked Twilight at one time...but I got over it. You have a like of something for so long and then it dies.
But I loved Muse before that. (Thank god. Otherwise I would have been killed).

You really shouldn't assume all fourteen year old Muse fans only like them because of twilight. I love them because they're amazing. And I hate Justin Bieber.

Read Twilight, and not a fan. I found about Muse shortly after I read the book, but long before the movie came out and not because of it. (I think I found out about them from an RE4 amv )

Stupid Stephanie Meyer taking five seconds of a great song for Bella to sell herself on a motorcycle. The slut.....Bella I mean not Stephanie Meyer. Although now that I think about it...

Yeah it's pretty retarded being a 14 nearly 15 year old on here, as I reckon heaps of people would see my age and be like ":erm: ooh... Twilighter".
But yeah, not the case, I've pretty much loved Muse my whole life because my mum and all my brothers and sisters listen to, and love, them. I read the first book, simply because I got given it for Christmas one time and it would be rude to just completely ignore it. It was alright so I read the rest. Pretty good, not the best written. Then I only saw the film version of Twilight because my sister had told me Muse were in it - which I'd already known.
Shit movie. Shit actors.
I think it's good that Stephenie is a huge Muse fan though, as her books and that would have created a few more real Muse fans who explored more than just Supermassive. But then again, maybe some of the people who only like SBH have checked out more of their music and didn't like it. Just depends aye.

The Twilight books are actually pretty good; not that well written but very entertaining page-turners.
The hype has ruined them and many people won't read them because of it.
The movies are not so good. Actually New Moon is better than the first one, but they're not a great representation of the books.
I agree completely. You and I are on the same wavelength.

Hey im 14!!! I dont think thays really fair because i was WAY into Twilight (but not just that it was really vampires because i read Vampire Chronicles first) and I decided to check the soundtrack out. The first time I heard SMBH I didnt like it but it got stuck in my head and eventually I checked Muse out. So dont say that its the younger people because I have ALL of the albums, Hullabaloo, HAARP, and ALOT of B sides.

AND I MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER!!

Alright, alright! When I say 14 year olds I'm generalizing a bit. Of course there are exceptions.

I love twilight first movie and books, but I love a muse more. Twilight got me into muse finally. I was not the Muse fan earlier, but SMBH is not my first acquaintance to Muse, IBTY I have not heard in New Moon.

I saw Twilight for the first time last week, it was 3 in TESCO so thought it was cheaper than renting it.. I HONESTLY didn't see what all the fuss was about. I don't hate it, I just thought it was quite possibly one of the most boring films I have ever seen.

... and I definately DON'T get the Robert Pattinson thing AT ALL!

So i watched Twilight once with my twilight obsessed friend and we were up the whole night and i had too much caffeine So i just laughed through the whole movie. It was so....pathetic! AND CREEPY! the vampire is a fucking stalker.

I mean he watches her sleep like a psycho??!?!?!?!? Oh how romantic. Next day i didnt remember anything. And then ALL my friends talked about the movie so i decided to give it a second shot. I watched it when i was sick and home alone and through the whole movie (I SHOULD GET A HUUUUUGE REWARD FOR BEING ABLE TO GET THROUGH IT IT WAS LIKE GOING THROUGH HELL). And i didn't feel anything.....just pure boredom. The only thing i liked was the baseball scene where they played SMBH. Then i was like....<3 That scene saved me or i probably wouldn't be alive right now. I would die from boredom. So basically....i hate Twilight. Twilight is ridicoulous.

And Matt bellamy hates it too so i'm not alone :D

I read all the books as I didn't really have anything else to read at the time, they didn't leave a lasting impression.. That says it all really  and I really don't like the movies. And I was a huge Muse fan since the age of 7 so thank goodness for that! :')
