Anyone else watch it, I really like it these days. It's funny and it shows/tells you what you want to see. Plus they do stuff we can't, how many of us can drive a fast car around a track like they do :D.

How many of us get pissed of at the fact that they're allowed to do it and that we are not. Plus they get huge salaries to do it.

Lol erm who's not allowing you to do it? Clarkson learnt journalism, he has a love for cars, he went to the BBC to drive cars. He did such a good job, they let him fly around the world in 48 hours (if i remember correctly), let him fly in a F16, let him drive down a ski slope, let him train with US troops. And a shit load more that i can't remember. The point is no one stopped him you can do this too but you haven't so what you go to be pissed of about?

Aye it is good and probably even better than the old days. I'm not sure really the old days were good, but i think they have gone in the right direction. Made it more fun rather than just present you with cars you aint gonna buy. The only thing that could be better is if they didn't always go by the script and look as if they did the same sketchs in rehersal. But it is a live programme so suppose its better to go by the script than to fuck it up.

Well the old show was the same as the magazine, had the exact same stuff in/on both.
I personaly like the fact they show what fast/dream cars can do. Why shouldn't they do it. Like you say he learn journalism nothing stoping anyone else.

Did anyone watch those programs when they tried to see how indestructable a pick up truck was? It was quite amusing.

Nah won't be Mansell, that stuck up twat, fell out with Top Gear i think when Tiff Needell was racing in the British Touring Car Series (i think) it was when Mansell was driving the Ford. Anyways Mansell fucked up during the race and blaimed it on Tiff and Top Gear for interferring. I considered it being Hill but he tried getting to the celebrity thing after he retired and he was shit at it. So if he was gonna be involved i would of thought he would want people to know he's on it. But suppose he's got fuck all else to do, so probably grudgingly excepted to be masked. The only other person i can think of is a guy from the 90's with blonde hair. For the life of me i can't remember his name nor his team but i think it was Williams. Been trying to remember his name for the past year and i just can't remember it.

Sorry i know this is going of Top Gear but what do people think of Button? Think he could do Britain proud and get some proper achievements. Based on last season no, but this season the way he has turned things around is impressive. Do you think he will have to change teams in order to get the achievments, or that he can get them with Williams?

I think he could win a title, Maybe not in the B.A.R. But i think he may win a few races for them, i think being treated as the number one driver has helped. Apparently he is mr cool, takes everything as it comes. I think he will do it. He was amazing in the last race came from 13th to finish 2nd and for 20 laps couldn't breath very well because his helmet was fucked.

Oh yeah its B.A.R, i keep thinking that was his firt team. I didn't watch the last race, didn't know that about his helmet, pretty impressive to get through the race. I think alot might depend on when Schumacher retires, but even then that will change things for every driver.

He's doing fantastically with B.A.R at the moment. As freda said he may just win a few races for them, the podiums are definately promising. Not sure BAR are capable of winning championships just yet, but then again, a good driver is definately a help to improving whatever team. I mean look at ferrari before they got schumacher, they weren't getting anywhere at all.

Is Button switching teams next season then?

I like Top Gear (although it comes with several months delay to Poland - the one with the DB9 Racing was shown last week!), but they do some really outrageous (in the bad sense) things sometimes. Namely, they destroyed a 2CV (I absolutely love those things, and, what's more important - they're vintage, there's less and less of them, so they should be protected) with a blow from a Jumbo Jet engine, and they let a fat nun in a monster truck run over a beautiful Volvo Amazon (even more vintage and rare than 2CV).

Top Gear is brilliant! *mimics bloke from the Fast Show*
All of a sudden I find Jeremy Clarkson really funny now!
For example his similes like: "Driving this Bentley through this village is like fitting an oil rig into someone's letterbox."
The episode with the racing DB9 was really amusing, with bits like about how the front bit of the DB9 would "cut a frog clean in half", and when Clarkson takes the piss outta Ray Mears and the climbers from Touching The Void.

But in that episode with the Discovery he pours Diesel over his campfire to get it started. And EVERYONE knows that he couldn't do that, as the flashpiont of diesel is too high.

TBH the program would incrediblly boring if they did that all the time. Look at fifth gear, it is a dismal program with second rate presenters and car geeks. I think the average person spends anything up to £20,000 on a new car. I think that is a fair estimate.

Top gear will look at anything from £500 second hand porsche's to £1M Bugatti Veyron. It is just plain entertaining.

I like top gear but sometimes it feels like it's scripted.

For one, there's no way that that carwash would have continued running after the ran out because there are sensors at the end which stop the wash if anything goes through them when a car isn't there.

And I'm sure it was just an edit when they stuck "well spoken man" on the board.

It just all feels really scripted.

It's a pity the race was so obviously staged...they'd have had to shoot some of the stunts several times to get some of the continuity they had.

It's always interesting in Top Gear to try to work out the boundaries between what's staged and what's not. For instance, last week, the fire was obviously staged, but when they ran into the bushes when the police came, that must have been real.

I was slightly dissapointed with this weeks episode.

They cheated on catheram and with 3 of them they should have won with ease. By cheated I mean the car came delivered half built. That is how one looks after about 8 hours wit one of their garage technicians.

For example the body panel was allready in place along with many other items. When you get the kit, what you get is the main frame with the dashboard, electrics and fuel tank securely fitted for you. That's it.

They were complete amateurs tbh.

This statement is wrong. On many many levels.

However you might not get to see some of the brilliant TV as I have no idea what gets broadcast on US tv. Though if you count Rome as from the UK due to the British cast and BBC production, then that is clearly a good show.

I hope they'll broadcast the new shows soon in Holland too.. I had to watch old ones last months (not that that's less fun, but I want to see the new ones!) ]
glad Hamster'll be back safe and sound..

28th of January, apparantly.
*has been paging through the Top Gear Magazine  *
But I wondered how, since that's 4 days from now, so it'd be on a sunday? And yet Top Gear airs on fridays here  *

I'm glad he's back though  ..and glad they're showing the crash, just because I can go like " " and have something to freak out about at work and school :D

In the mean time, If you bored waiting I recommend watching clarkson's DVD's all avaialbe on youtube.

In the recent one that has come out I have never seen him be so cruel to american cars in general before.

Again, Top Gear is aimed at mainstream audiences. It isn't aimed at hardcore car nerds like myself. If it was just the sensible power lap/ car test stuff, then fine, but it's all the inane shit they do, like blowing up caravans.

And that is one of the reasons why a car enthusiast like myself has little time for it. It's a chat show with added cars.

I'm also a proper car enthusiast and love it! If you want a show for purely cars and not entertainment go and watch 5th Gear (which is utter crap at the moment)

Top Gear is the best by miles, go and watch Motors TV which has proper car enthusiast programmes, they are all boring. Top Gear has a good blend of both. I would rather watch supercars and them blowing up things any day of the week, who wants to see them discussing gearboxes or the latest family car?

Knightofcydonia
25-01-2007, 12:06 PM
Well I for one would happily see them discussing gearboxes. "Oooh that latest ZF 6-speeder is nicer than the Getrag one used with the previous 4.0 V8"

Motors TV shows too much American, bland racing. It's great when they have classic races.

To be perfectly honest, I would just rather take the car out and drive than watch three men acting like kids. Clarkson is a sham these days. He's become a victim of his own success.

I love Top Gear to bits.. but then I'm a Brainiac fan so I'm gonna like the general caravan abuse, I suppose!

why does 5th gear and top gear say the 'zed' instead of Z. for example the 350z, they always call it, 'the 350-zed' . is this a british thing?

That's how we say the letter z. Funny how we say things different from time to time isn't it.

Oh us british and our antiquated ways. Spot of tea and a game of cricket anyone?

To be fair, they do not blow caravans up on Top Gear. That's Brainiac.

They do drop them from cranes, drive into them and burn them, however!

H is not ACH. Only lazy people say it like that. It's HACH... 'Huh' is the sound of an H, so use it...

I pray my aeriel will behave, because I have no video recorder to record it, hence having to watch it only once, and then cry due to not being able to see it again for ages!
Though I COULD ask one of my friends to record it onto a DVD for me!

I think it's cos James May is making his own show. I have no idea what for though.

And yes, I have tickets for Wednesday's filming! :D Got to beg my boss for the day off though...
