I didn't watch it, had a family outing to the movies (always a palavar) and saw 2012. It was the most cheesy over the top thing I have ever seen. At one point it was so so ridiculous that I had tears of laughter runnning down my cheeks and the whole theatre was in an uproar.
The effects were incredible, so I would reccommend it but not with too high expectations or anything! It was very funny!
That review has made me really want to see this movie. I can't wait.
So the sun comes out in Christchurch on the day I leave, and I get back to Auckland and it's raining. :indiff:

 Sounds entertaining. The review I saw gave it 4/5 stars and said it had everything a blockbuster disaster movie should have, were they right?
I watched 'the boat that rocked' last night. It wasn't bad, got a few giggles out of it.
Oh I really want to see that with my Dad, when we saw the ads for it it looks like it was loosely based on the story of Radio Caroline. Not sure if it actually is, but radio Caroline was a radio station in the 60's that broadcasted from a boat outside of British waters. Apparently the government owned all the radio stations and controlled what people were allowed to listen to, so the only way a new radio station that was a bit 'out there' could play was to broadcast from outside of England.
It was a big hoo ha at the time and so it became a big part of radio history.

I really loved it, I think as long as you don't go into it expecting too much then it's totally enjoyable.
Poo to the rain! I wanted to go for a big walk with the dog, but really don't want to go out in that, so I'm going to watch Harry Potter instead :)
How was the rest of your hoilday?

That's the type of movie I love.

was thinking of maybe quartering some potatoes and baking them...salad would be a good idea but lettuce is still pretty expensive and looks disgusting. one day our porch lettuce will be ready to eat!

oh that sounds awesome! It pisses me off how expensive lettuce gets when it's just LEAVES!!!
I had loads in my garden but I didn't pick enough of it and a lot of it got burnt in the sun.
I have epic spring onions though. I must leave them in too long because they are the size of cucumbers. GIANT!!
And they taste awesome, so I have no idea why they don't let the ones in the supermarket get like that.

We have a shit tonne of silverbeet in our garden atm, and tomatoes and grapes and apples which'll be ready in like the next couple of months. The strawberries are my favourites though

before i went to the UK, i lived in a flat that had this massive lemon tree out the front and it had massive lemons on it. it's just across the road from this flat actually, have been there to steal some once but there were none. but they were so huge and i made lots of lemon meringue pie. :awesome:
the mushroom sauce was so delicious and so easy too!

Yum! One of the things I love about Summer is all the fruit and veg that spring up!
Loads of people at work bring their excess from their gardens into work and my lunches get far more exciting!
Got avocados and tomatoes at the moment! YUM!

wish we had a proper place and we had a garden. i'd love to plant potatoes and peas. i always remember as kids getting told off for eating the peas so we'd shell them leaving the pods on the plant or we'd throw the pods over to the neighbours. we've got radishes, a lettuce mix, coriander and two peppers on our wee porch.
in such a cooking mood tonight, just put some peanut brownies in the oven.

Was he doing anything embarrassing or being over enthusiastic?

This is a rhetorical question as I don't want it spoiled, but I don't understand how that movie could have any sort of resolution. Its like, the world is ending, everyone dies, the end? I just don't get it. I suppose I'll have to see the film to find out

This is true
I went to town today to try and find a certain book I wanted, since I couldn't find it at the local Whitcoulls. So I went downtown (on my last $5 of petrol) and looked for Dymocks, which resulted in somehow getting inside a tower and going in a lift and ending up on Queen Street :erm: Then I went to Whitcoulls in town and couldn't find it there either. And they've put the scary Santa back up but for some reason its face is all wrapped up! Which makes it even scarier! Anyway I went to Borders in defeat, with the parking meter ticking, and it turns out they were having a 3 for 2 fiction sale because it was their birthday celebrations! So I got 3 books for the price of 2, and didn't even have to pay for them because I had vouchers! SCORE. Aaaand I could have gotten a free coffee from the cafe with my receipt but there was a line so I couldn't be bothered waiting. I didn't get the book I went there for, but it doesn't matter because it was a total deal anyway!

Today the air conditioning at work was not working, and even on a moderately warm day it's amazing how hot big buildings like that can get. Actually maybe it isn't that amazing since it's essentially a big concrete block so the heat retention thing is pretty obvious. Still, it was pretty brutal, and I was totally drowsy and unproductive.

Omg an actual swiss ball class? I would die!
They make us use them at boxing, you have to lean on one against the wall and basically roll it down the wall and do squats of various heights while punching the crap out of the pads. Death, I tell you!
I bought mine with the full intention of doing pilates and other excercise on it. But I've had it about a year and all I ever do on it is roly polys and try to frog hop on it......

The class isn't too bad. We do alot of squats and lunges with them. The toning we do with them can be the worse part, squeezing between your legs while lying over top of it or just doing pushups overtop of the ball. Actually, think the leg sets are the worse when you have a step and use the ball to balance yourself on your side and lift your leg up, then down and side to side without touching the ground. PAIN.
Richard can attest that my swiss ball at home is mainly used as a foot rest.
A fantastic foot rest it is too.

Which is why I just left a message on my friend's facebook  But usually when I message people, a certain friend in particular always does this, they never message me back. I'm like 'its give and take here people!'. It's particularly annoying when you leave a link and then wait with enthusiasm for them to watch it.
:(
That's just not fair.
And then when people don't reply, you're a bit cautious about messaging them again.

 I'm not. I often leave messages being like 'oiiiii reply to me'. I also break the double-posting rule that I up hold so rigorously in my posts here. I'll just post message after message if I have something I want to say and have been waiting too long for them to reply. The same thing with texting- I expect people to reply within minutes or I just text again and again and again
Maybe I should adopt that strategy also. Does the persistence usually pay off?

Usually, yeah. I figure the beeping of the phone will alert them to my messages, and the only way to make it beep more is to send more messages. I'd probably recommend keeping it to people you know well enough to get away with it though- if you can't send them a message saying 'oi bitch txt me' then you don't know them well enough
Sound advice.

yeah i had a really bad experience flatting with a friend. only time i did. otherwise i've flatted with randoms, my sister (interesting times...) and of course oren.
don't get couples with live with other people - wouldn't you want your own place and space? there's two of you to share costs afterall.
I don't get it either. My friends who just got married live with another girl, that would drive me mental! I could not live with a married couple, yeugh!
I'm fine being single, but having it rubbed in my face everyday would not be fun!
It wasn't a bitey one, very small fangs. It was a flat, grey one. I found it quite cute when it lifted one of its front legs higher so it looked like it was tilting its head and thinking 'what the f**k is going on here?'
Yeah I know what you mean :( Moths are very difficult to handle. When I had a friend over she got a bit freaked when a big one came flying around the lounge. I eventually got it safely in my hands to let it outside.
Oh I don't mind cute ones that don't try and bite! I like those cute spiney ones that look like a bird has pooed on them :)
I could imagine fights and stuff being really awkward if you were the other person.
Was it a Raukatauri? One of the massive green ones whose english name I don't know?
I love those. I hate it when my cat decides they're fair game. They're really rather beautiful.
Argh I have to write this horrendously awkward letter tomorrow asking for my dad's name suppression to please not be lifted because it would have an adverse effect on me if it was. Eloquently. Fudgesicles.
Oh fark dude that sounds massive. Hope that it goes well for you, I can't believe they would even try and lift it!!!
I probably can't due to lack of funds. Extreme lack of funds :( Still searching for a job. I have about $2 worth of petrol in my car and today my mum asked if I had any change to buy some milk with. She's going for a job interview soon so hopefully we will both be employed soon!
I have 33 messages on my Facebook :stunned:
I am more than happy to buy you a drink, if you can get there! Would be nice to have you there!
It is even more disappointing when its notifications from apps.
This. Drives me mental when I see five notifications, get excited and then see not a single one is from a real person!
Which is why I just left a message on my friend's facebook  But usually when I message people, a certain friend in particular always does this, they never message me back. Man I hate that, and like the one I just got, a friend in Aus that I don't talk to often put pics of her kids up, I messaged her to tell her how gorgeous they are and that I hope her and the family are well. The reply I got made me wonder why I bother "oh so you ARE still alive? I haven't heard from you in so long thought you had fallen off the face of the earth"
I remembered why I don't keep in touch too much, the last time I called her she was all like "hello stranger" and I realised this has happened the last four times I made contact. Um hello? She could call or message me? She doesn't work at all, so surely she could find five mins when the kids are napping to message me?
Grrrr.
How was everyone's day? I spent most of mine in the back of an ambulance.

Just asking because it's a word used to describe Sarah Palin in a news story about her I'm typing up. :chuckle: Others are knucklehead (which is in the dictionary!), joke, strange breed and confused.

Okay. Me never have been to a concert/festival.
So how does it work?
Is It all one day?
Come in when it starts? Stay all day? Various stages?
I feel like a noob :$
It's all one day. The main stage I think starts at 12 and goes until 10:30 (Muse will play last and for the longest), but the other stages (there are 3 others) start earlier and finish later.
You can turn up any time, but it's quicker to get in if you get there early.

i used to be so strict on best before and expiry dates but now i'm always seduced by the "clearance" signs at supermarkets which is usually date related or end of line stock.
one time i was drinking milk and realised it was 3 days out of date, disgusted i got out another bottle and that tasted worse and was 3 days in. so i drunk the out of date stuff.

Whereas Mum and I are planning on hop/skip/jumping over to Hawke's Bay to hang out with family friends who a)have room for us b)understand mum's illness and c)are generally higher up on our list of loved ones than those we're meant to love.
When I was 15 my brother told me to "be nicer" to my aunts because I upset them when I was a bitch to them. If they weren't so horrible to my mum, I wouldn't be a bitch though. Seriously, Goneril and Regan comparisons have been made by outside observers. And I'm so over family.
Last night my brother announced he never wants to hear from any of us ever again. He's suffering from illusions of Stepford suburban grandeur now that he's all grown up and has a girlfriend who plays bagpipes
Blah. Sorry for the rant! I kinda went on an organisation/holiday tangent...
That's fine!
It's probably the least significant thing you mentioned there, but...his girlfriend plays bagpipes? :erm:

The Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow! :awesome:
So I'm going to a party next week with a music videos theme. That should provide loads of possibilities, but I'm really struggling to come up with good ideas. Any suggestions?
Kanye West in any of his videos? :erm:

Goneril is such an ugly name. We had to study that play in 7th form and seriously every time someone in class would be like 'that name is ugly'.

We went to King Lear when the Royal Shakespeare Comp came to NZ in like 2008. It was pretty damn epic, though given the startled barks of laughter the audience gave when they recognised something familiar - yet completely out of context with what was happening in the story - I kinda think most people just went to see Ian McKellen in the buff
A penis costume, then?
Damn it I'm tired. But I only managed to sleep between 7 and 11 this morning, so...

I officially finish work at 7, but if I'm not doing the news I could sneak out early. You, Michelle and Kitty (if we can coerce her into joining us!) could aim for 6:30 or so maybe? And I could come and join you whenever I get away - my work is only about a 5 min walk away.
Sounds good to me. Just looking at train timetable again I realised the train doesn't come out my way on Sunday's. I asked my mum if they'll take me and she didn't say no, so I'll just take that as a yes.
I made maple walnut icecream (technically a frozen parfait though...) and meringues with the left over egg whites this afternoon. There are so many meringues though.

Ooh, interesting. Wish I had Discovery Channel. It's been a quiet night of tv for myself too. Rove was a bit sad though since it was the last one. Tv got dull though so came to the computer but I'm not making much progress with slow internet.
My ankle pain became more defined after walking around yesterday so I better use it as an excuse to sit down and do my assignment this weekend  Good thing I bandaged it today though else it would be covered in teeth and claw marks from my mum provoking the cat at my grandma's resthome with my shoe laces.
And meringue fail. Recipe said to take them out before going brown but they weren't cooked properly and stuck to the baking paper. I put them back in on a lower temermature for ages so hopefully when I get them out of the oven tomorrow they'll be better..

Yeah, basically Rove was the one who decided he'd had enough.
Probably. Ankle pain sounds nasty. What caused that?
I think it must be the ankle I twisted on my last field trip, but for some reason I thought it was the other one. But anyway, it just randomly went sore when exercising Monday night, then when walking home last night there was more pain in the back of the ankle when bending it. So I think it is probably the lower part of the achilles tendon or something in that region and now I walk slightly retarded so I don't bend my foot when walking
Ouch. Hope it gets better soon.

I went out with some girlfriends to celebrate my exam win, first time I've drunk anything for about four months, so I was a total lightweight and we bought cocktails !
I bumped into my long time ex who I haven't seen since we broke up over two years ago, which was weird. And then he sat down with us and started chatting like nothing ever happened, which was weird! And we ended up having to leave and he seemed to want to come with us, noooo!

Don't you people get it? This video is just a parody on R&B music. The wires mean that the music is not real, it's fake or mostly computer programmed.
The girl represents all the stupid girls who dance in R&B videos and look like they're prostitutes.
The lyrics in the background show how much the R&B scene lacks of imagination. Everything is done explicitly instead of there being a greater meaning to it.
Overall great song

Or burst the stiches out of it like the Hulk

How is everyone else doing?
I'm fine thanks. Ended up watching Indiana Jones (newest one) this afternoon during lunch, a long lunch .
It's cold though. Australia is still hogging the heatwave to itself.

That's a relief.
I'm good thanks. I just had my break, bought a coffee and listened to such songs as Uprising and MK Ultra. I am now extremely alert.
 Good wake-up combination. I don't drink coffee myself :erm:
Or burst the stiches out of it like the Hulk
omg  She-Hulk!
Edit: I looooove Indiana Jones. He is my idol in life, for srs. When I'm older and I get a dog he will be called Henry Indiana Jones Jr, Indy for short.

Neither did I, until this year. But then I had an exam one morning after only about 5 hours of sleep, so I was desperate for some sort of boost, and it worked brilliantly - got an A-. Now I'm hooked!
Haha, She-Hulk. Herlk? Femulk?

I started drinking coffee this year too, but I haven't had any for a couple months now. I don't know why, but I just don't really feel like it lately.

Good luck with steak marinating. Remember to have some kind acid in it to help the marinating process ;)
I'm really enjoying a new show I'm doing right now. It's called Cupid - it starts on Monday the 30th on TV2. Worth a look. :)

i'm just doing a allyson gofton recipe with the tried and true red wine. we had a small bottle for ages that my brother gave me. i don't drink red willingly so good to finally do something with it.
my parents bought me two bottles of white wine from brother up last week as a thank you then bought me stuff yesterday, including putting petrol in my car. they can stay anytime. i did take them out for lunch earlier, went to a cafe that smokes its own meats. the whole place smelt delicious and smoky.

You know, just a little while ago, I was a firmly committed non-user of that awesome face. But it's just so appropriate so often.

Yeah, in one of the ads they are trying to make meat without animals and the guy to taste it didn't look impressed when they asked if it tasted like beef :chuckle:

Wine is suppose to be good for marinades too.
That cafe sounds good too!

the marinade is just red wine, garlic cloves crushed, cracked paper and mustard. just frying some mushrooms in butter, might add bit of wine to that as well for fun. don't feel bad experimenting when its just me eating it. i'm always worried if i'm cooking for oren too he'll hate it.

That is true, but there might be some real-life situations in which it might be quite inappropriate.

Sounds good, I usually just put teryaki marinade on my steak. Lately I have been marinating chicken for kebabs with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, honey and mustard from a recipe my mum found, it's pretty good.

Captain America is the opposite of Wonder Woman. And Catwoman was a villain so she doesn't need a male equivalent- only heroes need someone similar of the opposite gender

Eww on foodinaminute, the Wattie’s Heat ‘n’ Eat Steakhouse Burger Patties look disgusting. Any frozen that you microwave for 2 minutes is gross. It's not like making burger patties is that hard and probably a hell of a lot cheaper than those.

Oh man, last night when we got back to my friend's place, I took my hair down and it was so matted  It had been teased and then put up in a bun and when it was out it became like one giant dread  Me and my friends laughed so hard, it was hysterical. I had a Matthew Bellamy moment in that I tried to say something and then laughed at the end so what I was saying came out as a kind of laughing squeak
Edit: have fun you guys! Take pictures!

we know they live on the hill so their house will be fine but her husband owns an optometrist so i imagine that's down in the town. waiting for my mum to find out from her sister what's happening.
i look more related to my cousin's kids than i do to anyone else in my family...
