He might consider that. He hasn't done green before, has he?
Ooh, I just saw this about my Masters this year. I was pretty confident I'd get in, but it's nice to have it confirmed...
Wow, nice one! Well done!
mmm shall i get on my roof and paint welcome back muse because planes often fly over my house towards the int airport???
I should be in town tommorow about midday onwards. I am waiting to see how long they will take to sell the tickets out.
Hahah that'd be sweet as!

Alright, pretty boring day at work. My deskmate was listening to Viva La Vida by Coldplay on repeat this morning and singing along to the chorus. Was funny for a while but got annoying.

It's all gone quiet at work, only one theatre going so I'm hiding out for my first sit down of my shift!

i had a boring day, got a lot of work done on my burglary claims, did the dishes, made a chicken marinade and then eat said chicken. was going to the gym but eating chocolate instead. oops.
Chocolate > gym. That is a fact.

I love Chris singing "YOURSELF!!" too. Awesome.

Some nice vocals from Chris in this version too from 2008 (I was up the front :D) such a good performance. The lasers looked awesome beaming out into the night sky, I really hope they bring them to the BDO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajEltJYx0zA
Very nice.
I hope they bring the lasers too. They do work well at BDO - I remember Bjork used them really nicely a couple of years ago.

the more you guys talk about what they brought to the last bdo i am looking more and more forward to it as i was saying to michelle this is the first event of this kind i am tending to.

I maimed myself at work tonight, and made a twat of myself at the same time. Managed to smash my bad knee super hard on this metal strut in the tech room, and it really hurt, and the next thing I knew the room turned black and I fell to the floor! I bloody fainted! Don't think I lost consciousness but geez had a full on vasovagal and neary vommed.
Never done anything like it before, must have hit a decent nerve or something.
Knee is swollen and bloody sore, couldn't walk for a bit. Had to sit on the floor with my head between my legs!
I'll be so fucked off if it gives me problems on Firday! NOT HAPPY.
Shit! That's awful.
Hope it feels heaps better soon. Have you got ice or something?
Do you think you'll be OK to walk around at work all day tomorrow?
Tacticalkat
13-01-2010, 08:48 AM
I probably should have iced it when I did it, but when I recovered and was able to put weight on it I had to go and do a caeser, and now it's probably too late. I thought it was ok because I was sitting, but when I got up it was real bad! I'll just be gutted if I've undone all the hard work of the last few months!
Hoping like fuck that work will be do able.
Yeah, that's such terrible luck.

my excuse for not going to the gym to myself is that i'm letting my blisters heal properly before i make them worse on friday on the rower. definitely going to a class tomorrow. :yesey:
might be something muse on tv3 in a minute.
Ooh, I'll watch. Thanks.
And that's a legitimate excuse!

he is an idiot isnt he i dont like him when rhianna released that song russian roulette he failed to see the emotions behind the song and yet praised the supposed cool tune i can transform ya by chris brown that song really racks me off for some odd reason, they showed the old interview last weekend i think.

i dont get them either but if the emotions were there when the wrote it surely that would be something to take into some consideration, there are some popular song that is about how to get the latest bang but there are some that are quite good i mean black eyed peas would be a pop that i like

mm i can kind of see the emotions but i wreckon she could of done it with a bit more guts though and true it would not have been like she wrote it but she gave it a good attempt in putting the emotions into it with what she had been through tho i dont totally believe she was responsible

Speaking of shoes, anyone have any recommendations? I don't really have anything suitable for long periods of standing and get really sore feet at concerts, I'm thinking maybe some walking shoes or something could do. I don't really want to wear my running shoes as they cost quite a bit and are bright white/silver

Yeah you don't really want to wear clean white shoes. My chucks got pretty dirty after my first BDO and I'll be wearing them again since they have nearly had it with plenty of air holes  So just wear something old and comfy.

i would presume you would be better to get covered shoes as opposed to sandals or something like that, I wouldnt wear heels i cant wear them if i had my way i would go barefoot but think thats a tad dangerous..
+1 for the knee here too
And heres a doofus moment i saw a small plane hanging around my house just flying in general and what did i do get out and wave at it in case muse took a small plane to looksie around auckers lol :facepalm::facepalm:

Hey guys, lurked here for a while, heading up to Auckland tonight (from chch) for BDO, hoping for good weather, but really looking forward to it regardless. I take it its better to brave the D with friends than alone? I've never been to a BDO before so have no idea what to expect.
You should be fine in the D alone - unless you hold on to each other, you often end up being split up from your friends anyway. It's good fun in there. I recommend it.
http://twitpic.com/xzh11
Haha, this was an awesome idea.
What about poor old Morgan though?

Sweet, ever since i bought tickets, i've been set on the D, just talking it through with mates, most of them aren't that fussed, but i figured it would be fun, went to the 07 chch show and was near the front. Im more worried about dressing appropriately hah

the year i got maimed in the d barrier, i was wearing my skechers that are open on the top and have an elastic strap across the middle of my foot. when i got crushed my feet swelled and bruised around the elastic. it was so gross. so i'd avoid shoes that don't have proper closed tops if you can as bitches will step on you.
So I see Muse got up to seaside shenanigans at Takapuna Beach with Lily Allen today.
I can only hope the blurry figure dressed all in pink in the photo isn't Matt, but it does seem to be an unavoidable truth.

They were more amazing than I had even hoped!
Nice to see you guys after too, sorry I couldn't hear a word you said because my ears have been raped!
Veils setlist as I remember it, for those who like them:
Not Yet
The Letter
Calliope!
Pan
Jesus for the Jugular
The House She Lived In (one of my highlights of the day)
Advice For Young Mothers To Be
Three Sisters
Larkspur
I think they were amazed by the crowd that went to see them. When Finn walked on stage he said "fuck me. Hello!" Sophia (actually saw her face, unlike last time I saw them) kept blowing kisses into the crowd.

Muse performance at BDO was awesome! They really delivered- the lasers were incredible and the smoke at the end was just going on and on! I really liked the way they used the screens in the background too. Some of the visuals on them were really cool. Like the Eurasia map and stuff  And I had no idea Chris could play the harmonica like that!
I saw a bit of Jet, whoever it was that asked. They were pretty good, didn't know much of their songs other than the main singles really though so I can't really comment on them. Kasabian sounded really good too. And a surprise act for me were Karnivool. Was inside the D barrier for them and I hadn't heard them before, but they had quite a good sound!
Did anyone else think The Mars Volta were a bit lacking? I felt like their songs blended into each other too much, and they went out on a really slow note, rather than a powerful end, which was a bit strange.
I cheered myself silly during Muse  Even started a 'Muse!' chant before the encore

Not Yet
The Letter
Calliope!
I heard them play Advice For Young Mothers To Be. And the other few songs after, but I didn't recognise any of them. They were really good though. I loved when Finn Andrews was like 'Veils fail' when the equipment went weird  He seems like a really nice guy.

I tried to listen to some of their stuff before hand as I have heard good things about them, I just couldn't get into it though. I thought they were quite good to begin with live, lots of energy but their mix was horrible, as was the case for a lot of bands. By the end it was just getting a bit tiresome though, and that slow ending not only being a bit strange went into Muse's time slot
You have to give it to the Muse audio techs, they always get the sound spot on, no matter where they are playing.

They are good, and I like quite a lot of their songs. But they felt very average on the night. They are the sort of band where they have songs you either like, or hate, and they only played one that I knew so that might have been why.
Yeah the Muse sound techs are amazing. The band also sounds great, but not too polished. They manage to keep a live sound rather than record-clean.

I wreckoned that mars volta was good i found they had a doors/led zepplin sound to them but yes they went into the muse time slot but i was watching the sound techs they looked like they were having some slight problems getting because i saw the communications and so on going on there perhaps that was why. the time slots went over a bit. I am looking through you tube for a vid of powderfinger from the bdo so mom could have a looksie,

Yeah, definitely. Although the fact that I was really quite squashed might have also contributed to their set seeming to go on endlessly. Did they really only play for an hour?

Oh dear, sore head doesn't sound good!
I went out to another gig last night, and I am so glad I remembered ear plugs, my ears are only minimally ringing.
It cracks me up that everytime anyone mentions anything about The Mars Volta the next thing out of their mouth is how they ran into Muse's time slot.
That was the longest hour of my life, it seemed to be the same song that went on forever.

well the sore head was because i managed to demolish about a bottle and a half of wine and we all know how potent the contents of wine is and it was white wine... i usually have food to soak up some of the alcohol but i didnt eat a thing hence the sore head and me being very quiet.
What was the other gig you went to, Mine arent even ringing at all i guess with me being partially deaf i dont have to worry about the ringing or things like that as the ear mould might block some of the sounds??? thats just a theory

I went to the Kings Arms to see my friend's band, 'Shotgun Alley'. They were awesome, super cheesy rock and awesome old school get up but they have some really good music too.
My ears are shocking, I've been to too many gigs without ear plugs, and the loud stuff at work isn't making them any better. Most of my collegues are pretty deaf.
Ahh, yeah a bottle or so of wine will do that to you!

yeah i was watching the t20 match, i couldn't decide what team i was supporting. was happy when there was a wicket, was happy when there was a boundary. kind of a good way to watch cricket. normally i'd only do 20-30min of cardio a session. kinda disappointed i missed the last 8 overs as it was right up to the last ball.
Still better than me! I usually do 15 mins of cardio and 15 mins of weights. And I've only been once in the last 6 months. I just get so bored of it.

I shouted out daft stating-the-obvious things like "KEYTAR!".
An hour and 10 minutes.
I cheered during the United States of Eurasia intro and it cut through the silence  People around me were like 'wtf?'

I would never even consider going to the gym personally. There are other less expensive, let alone more interesting forms of exercise such as walking/jogging/cycling and as I have recently discovered moshing like an idiot to music in the comfort of your own home which clearly helped me for the BDO as I was going nuts and hardly even tired towards the end of Knights Of Cydonia
But then I'm the kind of person who gets bored of repetition, I like to mix things up a bit, going to the gym would just seem like a chore to me. Each to their own though and good on people who do put in the effort.
JoBear
17-01-2010, 02:55 AM
oh i think the same thing tom, i go to the council gyms which are significantly cheaper than any other gym. you get short memberships and can freeze them if you want. i wouldn't bike on a christchurch street with what i see in my job so the cycles at the gym are quite good. i started going to classes but then i changed branches at work and it makes it a bit more awkward to go, so i just go to the gym when i get a free half hour.
got a multi membership at the moment which means pool, class and gym access at all the council gyms so if i get bored i can try something/where else.
I have recently discovered moshing like an idiot to music in the comfort of your own home which clearly helped me for the BDO as I was going nuts and hardly even tired towards the end of Knights Of Cydonia

Absolutely. It's way more fun than anything at the gym too (although I do enjoy belting a squash ball around when a court's free).
I didn't get tired in KOC either. Kept jumping all the way through to "come ride with me...". I was quite proud of that effort. All the practice paid off.

I Just woke up, passed out at around 7:30pm, that is very rare for me, but then I gave it everything on Friday night  and for some reason woke up at 8am on Saturday when I was planning to sleep all morning :stunned:
I woke up early on Saturday too and I couldn't even get back to sleep. So ended up on here and singing to music all day
Muse performance at BDO was awesome!
Wow Michelle, did you get the setlist? That's awesome
Chris was awesome on the harmonica
And I agree with the others, The Mars Volta just kept on going and all sounded so similar and as you seid, blended together. I had listened to some on myspace but didn't really recognise anything.
And yes, I got that setlist  It was just given to me as walking through the D

It's just a Sony DSC-T500 point and shoot, I can assure you I have a few crap pics for every good one. It's just about timing it with the right lighting and letting it focus.

the issue i am having with studylink is they are trying to tell me i cannot get a student all because the course isnt full time, the course has told them a zillion time that i am a full time student and they are still saying i am not, they have paid the loan and that just not the student allowance, the status with the student allowance hasnt changed just gone to the sister academy of the one i was at last year. Those are the issues i am having, someone isnt communicating properly with one another at studylink.

I saw Tom Kirk! It was good. I was all "eyy, It's Kirky!" And then the concert started up and I found myself behind many different tall people. *sigh* As such I missed out on seeing Matt jumping around and Chris headbanging, and only caught glimpses. Apart from that it was great, though. When they started playing Nishe I felt the need to shout out "Nishe!!" To which I received odd looks.

and thats good to know that c4 would do a better interview than the egg on tv1 hopefully this time it wont be taken apart like the last one.
Oh sorry to hear that you didn't get along with some of your class but hopefully it will get better!
I'm at work, waiting for a baby to be born before I can start my next case. I'm so bored, and I am sooooo tired!

Really liked Muse at Big Day Out, although it wasn't as magical as the first time I saw them. Pretty predictable setlist also.
Had a really good time meeting and seeing The Horrors though, who were the band I was most looking forward to. I saw them leaving Real Groovy and discretely followed them back to their hotel (yay for stalking) and jumped into a lift with Faris, the frontman. This is the result.

Later on that night my friends and I were at the secret Mint Chicks gig I talked about before in a hot-boxed, sauna-temperature volcano rock tunnel which was fucking incredible.

Then we saw The Horrors there and chatted for about an hour. Nice guys. Excuse the, ahem, rather interesting photos. Put it down to a mixture of vodka and second-hand high.

It was the night before actually, and on into the morning of Big Day Out. Bandicoot (who are all only 15 and opened Big Day Out at 10:30) actually played as one of the support acts so I assume they must've been knackered
That gig probably had the best atmosphere of any gig I've been at though. The location, the DIY nature of it all and the people there just made it perfect for me

It looks like that videos gonna take until 4am to finish uploading, unless it speeds up later. It should show up here http://www.youtube.com/user/MOATV when it's done.
Someone else may get a copy up tonight if your lucky
or the c4 website?

Fiiiiiiilth!
:awesome:
And Gunner, you've grown so much since 07! (was your first name Matt? can't quite remember :$) Looks like an awesome show in the cave.
Super Sammy!

While I was at the Big Day Out, I was two people from the barrier in front of Matt, I kept wondering if there were any of you lot near to me  don't know why, I wouldn't have recognised any of you if you slapped me in the face :chuckle:
Haha.
I wasn't lucky enough to be that close...left it too late going into the D.

I missed most of Kasabian (:supersad:) and got 'dinner', then stayed in my same spot from 4:30 until the end of Muse. I'm fucking glad I did too, I had AMAZING views from where I was. Powderfinger were awesome, and Lily Allen was just MIND-BLOWING. I didn't think she'd be so good !
Yeah, she was fantastic. I went in there while Dizzee Rascal was on and never got closer than halfway back.
Haha, 'dinner'. Did you just have chips too?
Super Sammy!

Dizzee surprised me to be honest. I was expecting him to be quite crap, but he was relatively boppy and got the crowd going well. Mastodon were awesome too! Kora and Karnivool were rather dull though, I have to admit :erm:
Basically  and one very undercooked sausage :chuckle:
