Heh board is so tiny on my phone! But had to report that at the dogs one of the cats brought a mouse into the house! They were toying with it and it was squeaking...i wanted my dad he always deals with these things! I threw a container at it and by luck caught it. Oren got a lid under and we took it far away as possible! It was so horrible :(

That's sad, but at least you managed to get it away. I had to laugh at bit at the image of just tossing a container at it in the hopes of snaring it

We're playing a game called 'guess the captioner' at our Christmas lunch tomorrow. For this, everyone has to submit a random fact about themselves, and everyone else has to guess who it is.

I can't think of anything.

I think they know that already.

Hahhahaha I love it.

Our work did this too!

Do you want it to be something everyone can guess easily or do you want it to be a truly random thing no one would link to you?

_Ed_

I think they want it to be a challenge, so I guess they're looking for some random things.

Time for my break now, I'll go for a walk and have a good think.

Suppose I should make a post here and say hi, always good to see Kiwi Muse fans.

Really enjoying this warmer weather after spending 2 years in the UK, and I can't wait for the Big Day Out. I have been a huge Muse fan for about 9 years but only saw them live for the first time last year for various reasons, picked a couple of good ones though with the Royal Albert Hall TCT Show and V Festival.

For my fact I decided to go with my possibly fractured tailbone (never found out for sure - not easy to x-ray, I guess) on 4th form camp. It's quite a funny story - I was walking down some steps with a full bowl of cornflakes, and the morning dew on the steps made them slippery. You can imagine the rest.

There were cornflakes in my hair!

I like the back of the second one. I think just having that as the front and a plain back would be cool. Or the same Muse-Moa design on the front, and the 'united states of Moatearoa' on the back

I like the back of the second one too, maybe put a tiny moa picture to go with it too  We may need a vote on this.

Ooooh poor thing! :( I literally can't think of anything worse. When I went snowboarding I had this epic bail where I flew through the air for a few metres and landed on my tailbone.
Could have angled it better and gone for all the padding, but no, the bony bit won.

Thought I was going to die! :) I just lay in the snow for about 15 minutes after til I couldn't feel my body anymore, hahaha.

And I've never been back! :$

Yeah, I like the first one too, but I also like the mingled logo.

I took some pics, but they're not the best been taken at night.

First one demonstrates darkness:
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/Musedmichelle/IMG_0987.jpg

Second shows the redness more.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r187/Musedmichelle/IMG_0988.jpg

It will wash out slowly though to leave me with a nice brown with red shine rather than just looking dark red. Well I hope it does that again, I think I chose a lighter red, but it is an 'intense' colour which should last longer, not sure if I had an 'intense red last time :erm:

Oh, here's a picture from my last colour.

Fuck yeah, Germany! Where abouts?

I have an appointment with an osteopath tomorrow for a massage. The doctor prescribed them for my tension headaches. We are getting it for $20 cheaper since we can't afford them really atm. Should be interesting, but the only thing that's a little off-putting is that my mum is coming along :stunned: She wants to see some of the tricks and exercises that they will show me so we can do them at home for free. I think its going to be a bit weird getting a massage while my mum is staring :stunned:

Also, we sold the saxophone today which means Christmas food :awesome: Could have gotten $600 for it, but the lady I contacted saw our listing on Trade and Exchange for $500 negotiable so we kind of had to bring it down to that. My mum gave me $100 of it as Christmas time money though which is great.

My friend's dad was also having a huge clean out of their DVD collection, and today I got to go through a big bag and take any DVDs I wanted! I took about 20 or something  They had one of those green eco bags full for me to look through, and apparently had taken another 4 of those to Real Groovy :stunned: They have a lot of DVDs. It was like early Christmas presents! :awesome:

Good luck with the osteopath! I used one a lot for my jaw, and it worked well for me so I hope this one works for you so you can kick those headaches to the curb!
They usually use really gentle manipulation so your Mum might not be able to see what to do anyway, but I think that it so nice that she wants to come along!
Just close your eyes and you'll probably forget she's there anyway!

Gutted that you had to sell your sax, but it's also really nice that you did so you can feel a bit more Christmassy.

And wow, you scored big time on the dvds!!!!! Movie night at your place in the new year then is it? ;):D

I am about to head to work, it's my last shift for 09. And then I'm off til the 4th!!
And I'm on tonight with the boys, so that could either make my shift really cruisy and awesome, or insane because I'm the only one doing any work!
Hopefully it will be nice and steady!!!!!

I totally thought that said 'sell your sex' my bad!

Regifting, amirite? :awesome:

The osteopath appointment went well. It was a bit weird having someone poke around at your spine and stuff but otherwise okay. Except at one part I was lying on my back and she was like 'take a deep breath in, and then release it all the way' and she pressed down on the sternum, just below the gap between your collarbones, as I released, and then suddenly she gave a hard press and it was like CRACK :stunned: It really caught me by surprise!
She did one side of my back later and that was not so nice, because she like had to press me into the mattress as I was lying sideways and it kind of hurt just before it cracked.
It was weird because I felt kind of emotional afterward though. Like teary and stuff :erm:.
The osteopath also said that when my mum came in halfway through I tensed up, and that perhaps there is some relationship issues there. She even asked if I was thinking of moving out. I NEED TO MOVE OUT, EVEN THE OSTEOPATH AGREES!
They can tell a creepy amount about you and your feelings by your body language :stunned: Its kind of disconcerting.

Then I went for dinner with friends at an Italian place. It was delicious, and I got a lovely chocolate and cherry lacquer dessert! It was for my friend's birthday

The breathing and clicking stuff ie freaky as!
I forgot about that, they did it on my neck and it kind of turns you upside down!
Did they not warn you that it can bring out emotions too? I used to get the same I would feel either really fragile and out of sorts or would giggle hysterically afterwards.

They are clever mysterious people!

I've just spent since Firday night in bed, taking vast amounts of Codral and Otrivin, just came down with this nasty cold and sinusitis, and am so unimpressed!

Hangovers and work don't mix. :noey: Had a really good night last night though. But my throat is terrible (2 hours of karaoke would do that I guess) and I really really don't want to check my bank balance.

But I think we should do karaoke when Jo and Oren come up in February. And we should do it at the place I went to last night. Why that place in particular, you ask? Well...

It's a place called Luxury on Queen St that has lots of dark little private rooms. And they play bizarre Japanese footage on the screen that doesn't relate to the songs in any way whatsoever. :erm:

Single Ladies? How on earth did you keep up?

I went to a party last night that ended up being more party-like than I expected  Turned out it was a friend's boyfriend's 21st as well as my friend's birthday, so heaps of people came. It was really fun and my friend got a pair of llama print shoes from her bff and she was so excited  it was really nice.
Then today I finished the awesome card I was making for my friend which was a picture of our fictional band, which includes another friend. It took me a few days to compile the image and everything but it ended up really cool. And I gave her her present that everyone chipped in for- a Big Day Out ticket! :D

That is so cool, and I love that you have a fictional band!!!!
What's the band's name? (If it's not a secret!)

The Cosmic Radiation
There's three of us so we each specialise in certain instruments and we even have a fictional album and songs  For an assignment I did for uni, you had to make a press kit for a fictional or unsigned band, so I did ours  So we have like an entire press kit too.

I used the .MU V3 background of the board for the background of the card :p

Me and my friends tried to make a band when we were 12, we were called 'Poision Ivy' and I can remember all the words to our song! We were slightly stuck by the small fact that none of us played an instrument, and none of us could sing! :D

I've just spent since Firday night in bed, taking vast amounts of Codral and Otrivin, just came down with this nasty cold and sinusitis, and am so unimpressed!
The drugs seem to be doing their thing though and will probably get up later.
How is everyone's weekend going?

Aww, poor you. Hope your feeling better now!

I had a good weekend. Watched Avatar at imax yesterday (it was good ), bought some dvd's and then had dinner at the Mexican Cafe :D

But I think we should do karaoke when Jo and Oren come up in February. And we should do it at the place I went to last night. Why that place in particular, you ask? Well...

Hysteria
Muscle Museum
New Born
Plug In Baby
Showbiz ( )
Starlight
Stockholm Syndrome
Supermassive Black Hole (did that again last night haha)
Unintended
Uno

The first half of District 9 terrified me :stunned:

Good to see Kitty nominated for unsung Muser!

wat. :stunned: I have not seen this.

Today went uber lame. My mum and I went around to visit family and drop off presents. I don't even know why I went because I knew it was going to be lame but mum pulled the old its Christmas and you need to see family card. The first two groups we went to see were okay, if a bit boring. Then we went around to my other uncles' and I drove off to have a look around Devonport while they chatted. It went well until after dinner when my mum and my uncle started talking about the Copenhagen thing that went on recently, and it started to devolve into an argument. Mum got all uppity about some of my uncle's phrasing because she has a major victim complex, and he called her stupid and ignorant. To be honest, he was quite on the money with a lot of the things he was saying. Anyway, they ended up yelling at each other, his partner was sitting there totally awkwardly, I started crying... shit got out of hand. When we were driving back to the city mum was chewing my ear off about whats going on with my uncle and how he is and all this shit that I didn't care about but she always insists I need to know. Because she doesn't have any friends to tell it to imo. NO WONDER I'M HAVING TENSION HEADACHES WHEN YOU CAN'T TAKE MY MOTHER ANYWHERE  It sucked. I didn't want mum to use my upsetness as something to hold against my uncle later either, like to be all 'ah you made her cry, look how bad you are'. Even though that uncle is kind of annoying. Because I was really upset because the fighting reminded me of my parents getting divorced, which reminds me how much I miss my dad, which reminds me how much I hate living at home. And also during the day they were making all these jokes about my nana being evil, because she can be really demanding and distrustful with her house and stuff, like to a silly level. But regardless I was totally standing there like *awkward smile* the whole time. The whole visit to them was shit.

Then we went to Franklin Road

.

ARRRGH.... Poison Ivy yeah that's our name.
If you wanna fight then we're all game,
A sting of poison here and a drop of blood there,
A cry of help here and a happy scream there.

'Cos we're Poison Ivy, poison to the bone,
Whatever you do, don't pick up the phone.
We're Poison Ivy bad girls are us, you'd better be aware
or we'll kick up a fuss,
We're Poison Ivy run and tell your Mummy,
We're Poison Ivy and We're not coming home.

Our Posion is our love, just like a white dove,
if we don't sting then we don't sing.
'Cos we're Poison Ivy run and tell your Mummy,

We're Posion Ivy and WE'RE NOT COMING HOME!!

It was pretty good. Lots of lights and things so that was nice. We went quite a bit later, maybe 10pm-ish. There were heaps of people and traffic was blocked up for ages. I have my second really bad cold of the month. It's bloody December, it's just not right! And on Sunday I spent 5 hours at work on the most awful TV show I have ever seen - the US version of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. I had 5 minutes left of the show to do, and I was hoping to get it done quickly today then have something better to do afterwards. But I didn't notice that instead of clicking open file, I clicked new file, or that instead of saying 'do you want to back it up?' it said 'there's already a file called that. Do you want to overwite it?'

So, to quote Muse, "let's start oooover AGAIINNN."

And I don't want anyone at work to know I've been this careless and stupid, so I'll stay super late to get through everything I was meant to do today.

Well in the special features part the director/co-writer mentioned he knows how he would want to improve things when making the next film, so that's all I got to go on. Perhaps it's still wishful thinking, but I hope they go through with it!

I really enjoyed it! I may or may not have cried in it. It would be awesome if they made a proper sequel to it, with a good story like the first.

I feel so Christmassy today, went with Mum and got all the Christmas food shopping done, got the last few presents I needed for my friends and then we ended up getting a fibreoptic christmas tree!!!!!
It's so pretty! We have a real tree up already but this one was half price and a really good deal so we got it for next year and have put it up in our hallway.

It's so sparkly!

Yeah, it got so sad at the end :supersad: We need a sequel to know what happens!!

The tree sounds awesome, the fibre optic ones are cool indeed. The Warehouse ones were black though, which looked wierd :erm: We just have a tiny fake one sitting on the fire place  It's been Christmassy for me today too as I wrapped up the presents throughout the afternoon. Tomorrow I have to make the icecream for Friday and go put up my grandma's tree for when she comes home for the day.

Aw that sounds great! You and your home made ice cream! Nom nom!

That's so lovely that you are putting your grandma's tree up for her! Nice that she will be with you for Christmas too.

The fibre optic trees I have seen look silly, I've seen the black ones too and I never liked them til I saw this one. It's tree coloured and actually looks quite realistic, but it's so huge! It's 2.4 metres tall which is the height of our ceiling! Hahah.

I finished my wrapping today! I'm just trying to think of something else Christmassy to bake!

Woah, that's a big one. Don't think I have seen a big fibre optic tree all lit up, I can imagine it's very pretty.

As for baking, hmm. For us, pavlova is an xmas/summer thing, covered in strawberries or kiwi fruit. Usually we just buy them but I think my cousin might be going to make one.

Oh, trifle too! Otherwise you could attempt making xmas steamed puddings with the 'boozed' fruit

was thinking of baking something for my workmates but we're going out for a bit soon so don't know if i'll have time. :erm:

breakfast was good, it was a really american style diner which reminded me of when i was in the states. and we were so bored at work, we did some bets on the horses and out of $3 each, won 80c. so we decided to go buy two $1 scratchies with the winnings and then won $6. so we put that on a lucky dip lotto ticket...hope it comes in!

I always think it's such a nice thing when people bake for other people, but I could only do it for my closest friends because although my baking tastes great, it never looks very edible! Hah.

I don't think that would be stupid. We're all thinking about doing something like that - possibly all wearing the same thing!

You know what I hate? Sad music on news stories. Like this one tonight, an interview with a tsunami survivor. Oh wait, we're meant to be sad that people died in a tsunami? I so would not have known how to react to this if the music hadn't been there.

Cool. If you're wanting to go by train, it's the Southern line you're looking for, and get off at Penrose.

But there are heaps and heaps of extra buses to Mt Smart Stadium on the BDO day that won't be on that website timetable. It might just be easiest to walk up to Real Groovy.

If there are other bands you want to see earlier in the day, they'll probably play for about 50 minutes.

And I echo your sentiments to everyone else as well. You guys are awesome, and I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas.

i thought it was video but i don't have many video codecs so i assumed it didn't work. not that i tried after the half hour it took to download.

i've been drinking weird german beer - quite sweet. managed to be good and stop and played a game of trival pursuit. couldn't stop laughing over the question "why are camel haired paint brushes named that?" My sister said "Because they are made from camel hair" and the answer was that Mr Camel invented them. Probably not so funny if you weren't there.

Maybe that's why it doesn't work for me. It didn't take that long to download either or I would have given up.

Hahahha I think your sister's logic makes more sense than the real answer!

Oh okay.

I got a call this morning from a pet store that I applied to in Mt Eden. The lady seemed interested, despite the fact that I had literally just woken up (I'd thought my phone ringing was my alarm!) and was kind of slow on the uptake in answering her question.
But then she was like "it all sounds very good... but oh, I just looked at your cover letter (hey look, those things do have a use after all) and it says you want to have summer work."
Me: "Well, with work extending into the New Year"
Her: "I'm looking for someone able to work February to December, both weekend days."
Me: "Oh..."
Her: "Okay well thanks for your time!"

It was very disappointing. I'm flattered that my CV is so outstanding that you want to hire me before even finishing it, but don't wave a job in front of me and then pull it away! She didn't even give me a chance to discuss the timetabling. Although she did say that it looked like I was going to be "the next Tarantino", because my CV is full of film and tv stuff

Awesome. I think we might be going to town after BDO. You should join us if you don't have any other plans.

i know all the old faces sitting in the corner, but none of the new kids. :erm:

Plenty of time for that! :D See above!

Also, guys, t shirts? Are we going to do them? I think we really should, it's too awesome not to.

hope you're not looking for retail work in january, it's pretty much the worse month for most retail stores as everyone goes into recovery mode from spending too much at xmas time. i used to get hours at briscoes in january only because the fulltimers liked to take their leave then.

:stunned: :shifty: maaaaybe

I don't think I'll get a t-shirt myself- I'll just find you guys in the crowd. Might fashion a wristband or something.

No clashes for me! :D I'll be going to the main stage after The Veils finish at 5:45. With the Powderfinger-watchers about to leave, that should be a decent time to commence my sneak forward in the D.

Luckily there are no Scribe-ishly bad acts on the main stage between that time and Muse - Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen and The Mars Volta. I'm happy with that.

WOW I just did the most amazing thing. We flipped a coin to decide who would do the first part of the news, as we always do. But this time, the coin bounced off my shoe, landed on its side and ROLLED OUT THE DOOR.

:chuckle:

this thread was bumped down pretty we must be busy people and isnt it good how those pilot whales got resurfaced back out to sea

Yes it was good at least some of the whales got back out there, and yes I have been kind of busy, see below, lol.

im just counting down the days now till bdo, heading up on the wednesday, if anyones keen for a catch up im sure ill get bored enough up there.

considering filming the bdo, my new cameras probably about the best you could smuggle in there.

Oh awesome! That'll be great if you record it! :D

And yeah, it'll be great to catch up with you when your up here.

Also, guys, t shirts? Are we going to do them? I think we really should, it's too awesome not to.

Yes, I am keen for a t-shirt. It might not have such great effect with only a few of us wearing them, but oh well. So who know's a good place to get them done and who wants one?

Aww :( You better wave that wristband around like you just don't care then so we see you and your moa support!

Anyway, Kat will be proud of me. I ended up going rock climbing at clip'n climb yesterday, bit sore still from that but it was a good experience. And I played minigolf on Sunday, I bet my friend who plays golf by 2 points

It's alright. Just at work.

I should really figure out what I'm doing on New Year's Eve. Have you got your plans sorted yet?

Michelle

No plans yet. The friend I was hoping would help get something together now has to work in her parents shop new years eve  So currently it's either go a BBQ with my parents or carry on the last couple years tradition of watching Muse dvd's loud with some drinks

The second option sounds excellent.

My one concern with that BDO timetable is that Muse are only listed as an 80-minute set. That's not fair! They'll probably run a bit over time though and do an encore, etc.

Michelle

Ooh timetable is out? *Goes to look*

Yeah, at least 90 minutes is what we need. Hopefully they'll just stick to their regular set size though.

Yeah, I posted it on the last page of the thread but I did it at about the same time you posted so it probably didn't show up for you.

Damn, Kasabian and The Horrors clash :( I would prefer to to stay at the essential and green stage until about 6.30, but that's a bit late for getting into the D (safely).

It's really good for me - no clashes at all. I really want to see The Veils, so I guess I'll head to the main stage when they finish at 5:45.

I was just coming on here to tell you guys the same thing!
My friend wants to see Powder finger so I think we should be in the right place to head over to Muse as they are on the same stage I think.

OH well done you!!!!
That's awesome, did you like it?
I think we are going climbing at Glen Eden tomorrow, if any of you are keen to join us you are more than welcome!

I am keen for a t shirt, but I want mine to be a singlet. I have seen places around but don;t know where is the best, my friend just got some made so I can ask her.

I have just organised mine too, singstar at my friend's as per the last three years and then into town to watch the fireworks off the sky tower as the last few years!!!

And lots of boozing!

Oh and I forgot, my friend said the cell phones pretty much don't work at all so I guess we just try and organise a general place to meet and then will hopefully bump into each other?

The fireworks-watching and boozing will feature in my plans too, but since I finish work at 7 I'm thinking I should try to organise dinner somewhere in town then drinks after that.

We've usually gone to London Bar on NYE - surprisingly quiet and comfortable despite the huge crowd outside on Queen St. But they went out of business. :( Unsurprisingly, I guess!
