I think they are one of the most original bands I've heard recently. The way they mix various styles of music and different moods and tunes. Their albums could vary more though.

I am so glad I went. Yay to the Coopers.

ive probably said this in here but,
i think the coopers are a great band right now, they can only get better IMO, the experimental take is quite unique and seems like a cross between Radiohead's electronicy stuff and Mars Volta's endless jams, with a good dose of propa rock thrown in..
they are the new future i think

i'd also like to thank muse for getting me into the coopers when they first came out. though i distinctly remember not liking them at that gig... probably because i didn't really understand them, or their music at the time, and they didn't seem particularly confident in announcing themselves. it was weird because that very same day, i bought a copy of kerrang and there was a review of their Hardware EP in there praising their EP, and I only realised how good they actually were until i heard their recorded stuff... I met them after that gig too. I was convinced Tom looked like my mate's brother (who is also in a band)... he was very very drunk, and that Ben looked identical to the fittest guy in my school at the time (so much so, that I was going over to say hi to "James" before realising it was in fact, a member of TCTC)
i met them again when they postponed their cambridge gig due to Tom hurting their back (i was "late" and thought they were just sitting outside waiting for their support to finish, but got them to sign my warfare EP instead)
That was highly embarrasing as my dad came with me, and was telling them that "Pink Floyd would still go on with the show in a wheelchair" and all that sort of stuff (my dad does a lot of work with Pink Floyd and other rock'n'roll royalty bands, so thought these guys were amateurs)
and i saw Didz at Paddington another year later... ahh... can never get enough of TCTC.

They are doing IOW?
Not sure about that. Definately don't seem to be any plans to do Reading/Leeds/Glasto/T/Move. They are busy elsewhere. But I'd expect something in Autumn.
Headlining gigs are always better anyway!
Ah I agree their own gigs seem much better, seen them in a tent at leeds and at carling birg, both excellente.
Ah I dunno just would be ncie if they did leeds/reading etc would brighten up th lineup for me anyway, there arent many bands Im going nuts about seeing there at the mo :S
Dunno what they're planning to do at the moment...cept that US tour thing with the cure and muse or such

Hmm. If I was you, I would be having a sexual spasm over the fact that dEUS & Soulwax will be gracing the Leeds/Reading stage.
& yeah. Hmm. I have to hush about any plans. Rumours innit. Thought they were doing IOW though or that might be a dream.

Heh. True. Such a bad idea to give them any responsibility. Wouldn't be so bad if they weren't the type trying to make others jealous over absolutely nothing. :/
glasskite
29-05-2004, 08:18 PM
Cos people are retarded. I'm not jealous exactly, but it does annoy me that they get so up themselves cos they know a couple of bands. And the fact that "discretion" isn't a word that belongs in any of that lot's vocab.

they cancelled the only festival date they were to do in germany to go to the states...and i was about to go to the festival just because of them!!!!
it's so long ago i've seen them the last time, it was in may 2002...i want them back!!!
yeah, they're a really awesome band...soooo much energy...especially onstage...
glasskite
30-05-2004, 04:03 PM
They toured Germany twice in the summer/autumn last year. Its not like they haven't been back. And they basically said they went back too early the second time cos the people who turned up gave a rather lukewarm reception. So I wouldn't be surprised if it takes till at least october before they go back.
musefreak
30-05-2004, 09:23 PM

You were standing WAY too near the speakers, thats why i didn't want to stay there. I on the other hand got stepped on loads and kicked in the head by at least 5 blokes including a couple of coopers stage diving. Very true. Too bad NO ONE was watching them at the MA show. Well, I take it back, twenty people were physically near the stage, but besides me, only one other person knew who they were and actually cared. They put on an amazing show regardless though; the way they were acting, you'd have thought they were playing to a full arena.

I was discussing Reading with my piano teacher a week or so ago, and I mentioned that Muse were (supposedly) headlining, and he just said "Oh, my friends supported them on their OOS tour."
So my piano teacher knows TCTC. And he was also asked to play keyboards for Black Sabbath. One cool dude.

Because small venues are amazing. I've seen some of my fav gigs ever at small venues.
Tctc went through a really good phase after their frst album and them everyone lost interest (chasing after the new nme band or something probably  ) cept some of us crazy fans who still love em.
I'm so glad they're sticking to some real small venues tho. Like Mort said they're kinda 'keeping it real' I would love some band moving up in the world to still go around doing a small venue tour for old times sake or something.

I love this band. Or I think I still do.
And yeah, theres a hell load of mental fans still hanging about, they're all coming out of the woodwork. I'm in Manc and London so far. Brum, Leeds, Sheffield, Preston, Reading, Notts and Stoke are maybes, but likely to be probably nots.
I hate having no money when all my fave bands go on tour! :'(
I will be doing Stoke and Brum :) Tho if I wanted to I could probably easily do Notts as well, but nah 2 is enough for me :D

Aye its more than enough for most people but for some stupid reason it feels wrong if I don't see a band more than once on their tours. Esp this one.
I hate this band. :(
Ah you love em you hate em ;)
I'm sure there's plenty of nicely spread out venues to get to when the time comes and the funding for it.
. Like Mort said they're kinda 'keeping it real' I would love some band moving up in the world to still go around doing a small venue tour for old times sake or something.
I was takeing the piss :$

If you don't get em by tomorrow I'll ring up and check the postal address if you want. But I think it should be right.

Am I the only one who was miffed when the backstabber (didzy) left? cos that seems to be the case. wasn't he the one who made them wait to do new material cos he wanted to raise his kid and then once that time was up, ''hey I'm going over to DPT''...

Erm... really wasn't the case, Didz leaving the band has fuck all to do with why the new stuff has taken so long. And I don't blame him for leaving, DPT was a much more lucrative prospect and considering he now has a young family, I can totally understand why. If you wanna blame someone for why things have seemed so fucked for so long, blame a record company who demands songs that they think are "marketable" over creativity...
I wouldn't say upset, though it is disappointing when your favourite member of a band leaves. What can you do though? The Coopers obviously don't hold grudges over that and neither should the fans in my opinion.
