Awful, uninspiring music that sounds exactly the same as countless other "nu-metal" bands out there.

But you're allowed your opinion.

I don't know. I'm undecided when it comes to LP. I like some of their songs, but they're just so commercialised here in Australia that so many little fan-girls love them, including my tasteless 14 year old sister.

So I don't know.

my dad bought me the new album when it came out, as he knew i used to like them when they first came around, but i grew out of them, they were getting quite boring. but there are two maybe 3 really good tracks on the new album

Breaking The Habit
Nobody's Listening
Session

the rest, are very similar to each other, and sound somewhat similar to the previous album. i don't mind them, but i don't love them.

I find all of their songs meaningless, similar to their others and very very boring.

Awful band. Aimed at the kiddie market, now, though.

But, sure, we all have are unique ways.

I'm sure i like alot of bands people think are very shit.

Guitar and bassguys: enter with lame riff in drop d

verse begins

Singing guy: I`ve got a thooooooooooooorn

Rap guy: Got a thorn in my mind, doesnt matter how hard I try, it`s a thorn and I don`t know why...

Singing guy: In my miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind

Rap guy: It`s in my mind yeah, this terrible thorn, scraping me, raping me, tearing me up!

Singing guy: I`ve tried so haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard

Rap guy: I`ve got a thor..wait....fuck.

the novelty of them quickly wore off after hearing all their songs are the same:

-a pounding guitar whacking some one finger power-chords in drop-d
-a guy roaring (does it really poorly live, I saw on tv...NME awards I think)
-a rapper (eh, wtf?)
-a DJ making scratching noises sounded alright when u first heard a LP song like crawling or w/e but not in every single song!(again, wtf?!)
-songs about ppl trying to shape their destiny

I used to love Linkin Park but I'm not too keen on them now. They're not in my top 5 anyway. I went to the MEN Arena gig last year though and, even though I was about a kilometer from the stage, the concert was good.

My favourite songs are Crawling and P5hng Me A-wy (I know that's a remix but it's still on an LP album, based on an LP song). Has anyone heard KRWLNG off Reanimation?

The one thing that doesn't make sense if they were manufactured... why do they have so many old demos?

Would a record company really get them all together then send them to a shitty recording studio and make them do lots of different versions of their songs before letting them release a proper album?

I used to like Linkin Park years ago, earlier this year I dug out their debut album and to be quite honest it really isnt bad, their song structures are often very similar and the lyrics can get quite boaring (due to the same theme on every song) but they certainly have their good points and i imagine they are pretty decent live (i think my friend saw them at download)

Meh. I'm not very fond of their new singles. Haven't really been keeping much track on them, either. But I do still like certain songs, such as 'My December' (however it was spelled) and 'Papercut'. I'm SO sick of 'In The End', 'Faint' and 'Somewhere I Belong'. The chorus bit of 'Crawling' is murder to sing, too. >_>

I never knew if they in fact were a manufactured band. there was a lot of speculation.....
but were they actually manufactured?
Hypo Psycho...the newest manufactured offering from the people who got Busted together. Fucking hell. Can it get any worse? Hypo Psycho are an attempt to get to the more 'punk & raw kids'. HAHAHAHAHAH
it's hard to manufacture a band that have known each other their whole lives

I adored Reanimation on the basis that it showed that the band was not all about rock and that they could experiment with different styles of music. It wasn't meant as a second album, but more of a side project. Meteora was the second full length studio album.

EDIT: Yeah, some of the songs weren't all they could have been on Reanimation, but I thought on the whole it turned out pretty awesome :D

It's nice to see bands/artists do experimentation projects like this. Somehow, to me, it shows they aren't creating music just to make money and usually the results turn out better. Well, apart from the fact that most people hate Reanimation :$. I think it's cool and was really suprised when I first heard it (much like Butterflies and Hurrcicanes - awesome track  ).

Linkin Park I am afraid to say, are the epitomy of shit. Their first album was passable, Reanimation was a joke and then with that crowing pile of arse-cum Meteora on top just made them look even more of a joke band.

Seriously, they should split now before they make another album.

[and yes, I do have REAL copies of all three albums]

agreed.. what really bothers me is the way they talk about hate/depression in every song.. anybody whose been through depression/knows somebody who has, knows it's just not the way the songs make it out to be..what about the good times?..may not seem like a big deal but it is if there are small kids who listen to their music...they're impressionable.

I'm very much the same, i really enjoyed hybrid theory, but with reanimation and now that crap with what's hois name crap rap just totally destroyed whatever they had.
I do admit they got me to my current taste in music and i thank them for that, but if they didn't continually re-create themselves by over releasing the same songs remixed they might have been better off. My love for them finished after Hybrid theory.

Does anyone else here like them????
*waving*
i have hybrid theory and meteora and still like them, even if they're commercial (so what?!)

i have to admit (as an absolute) beginner and explorer of really good stuff, they are just quite ok.
But i would never say that they are bad. i just see now the difference...
ok, currently I put muse into my cd-player by 80 % and LP let that be ...,erm, maybe 0,3 %
but
i still listen to them
now and then....

They always delay the album...

"It's more organic and raw," Bennington said, "Rick has brought more of a stripped down classic rock and hip hop kind of feel. We're using vintage guitars and drums carved out of wood and skin for a more tribal sound. It's definitely not nu metal."

In addition, Chester went on to provide information on the new album title, providing only a fill in the blank clue of T___ and T___, in which Blender guessed to be Trials and Tribulations although that is not the confirmed album title at this time.

Hello all.

So, I'm relatively sure that a good portion of you have heard of the band Linkin Park.

If not, Linkin Park, today, is one of the biggest bands out there. They have been known for their unique style of rap and rock, and have sold over 40 million records world-wide. They are famous for songs like In the End, Crawling, Breaking the Habit, Numb, etc.

So, what do you guys think of Linkin Park, and are you guys excited for the new album coming out, Minutes to Midnight?

and the video is even lamer! I mean how cheap and boring was it compared to all the previous ones? :erm:

The last post of that thread doesn't seem too encouraging.

I didn't see that thread, possibly because it's several pages behind and I wasn't aware if you guys have a necroposting rule or not. So, my apologies for making a new thread.

But it seems like a better idea to just start out fresh, unless of course, you guys have any objections.

Uka: Why do you think What I've Done is lame? And why do you think the video is lamer than that? I thought the video was incredible. Although simplistic, it was relatively political and Linkin Park was pretty spot on with everything wrong in the world. I don't know about you, but I find that fascinating.

Maybe I'm just weird, I don't know. But I think the new single, as well as its video, is amazing.

And yes, the rest of the album is going to have a lot less rapping on it. Linkin Park wanted to shake off the whole rap/rock genre that was thrown upon them and try something new. It should be interesting.

According to the rules, the original thread should stay as the definitive Linkin Park thread, no matter how negative it is. So this one'll get locked or merged with it either way.

...I bloomin' love What I've Done, by the way.

It's bland as hell but I can see why they've released it as the first single from the new album, it's shows them in a completely different light.
