The tour is ages away yes, (though you wouldn't know it from the amount of stress going on) but who would you like to see support Muse on the UK leg of there 2009 tour.
I have this terrible feeling it will be Empire of the Sun, I bloody hope not.

I reckon the support will be from a band who'll have just finished touring for their album, so pretty much anyone at Reading/Leeds might be a shout.

Twin Atlantic would be a good support. They're a decent band.
To be honest though, I really don't care about the support. I'm there to see Muse. It's obviously nicer if there is a decent support, but if there isn't I really won't be all that bothered.
But come on, I doubt they'll be able to pick a worse support than The Noisettes! :chuckle:

It won't be anyone any good I'm sure.
Elbow were awful in 2003 (but are strangely not too bad now), Noisettes worse in 2006, there's not good history when it comes to support for Muse in arenas.

Wembley wasn't awful but yea you're right. I don't understand why though. The muse boys seem to have good taste; name dropping dudes like millionaire, deftones, cold war kids, tom waits etc. Maybe it is the record company choosing; which would suck.
Also I'm hoping it won't be another generic 3/4 peice rock band playing generic rock music. Stuff like rodrigo y gabriela would be more interesting for a support band.
Part of me also wants Oceansize to support cause 'size are the most amazing band out there and deserve to be better known.
I'm still trying to get Reuben to reform to support Muse

I'd love Air Traffic to support - they sound quite Muse-ish so would work really well, I think. Or some other alternative piano-based stuff - Cold War Kids, Dresden Dolls, etc. Ooh! Or Dragonette! No real reason, just cos I love them.

marmaduke duke are merely a side-project. they did a tour in march (which was amazing) and that was it, it wasn't supposed to be as popular as it has become. it's merely a band for the hardcore biffy/sucioperro fans, although now they're getting a lot of airplay on radio1.
besides, new biffy album out in summer so biffy will be busy boys.
i want THE HORRORS to support. 'primary colours' will probably end up being a better album than the resistance, it's a pretty astounding album (listen to it)! i'm not sure that even if they were asked that they would do it, don't think they're a band who want to become too big, but who knows.

Well my preferred support would be Placebo. Amazing live band, and my favourite ever. Love to see them or Kasabian support, but both of them are too big, i'd say. For the £50 im paying for my ticket, i'd be hoping that they'll be at least two support acts, and at least one should be amazing and suitable. Love to see Biffy Clyro, of course, or White Lies. Nine Black Alps are immense, and would love to see them. Even though im already seeing them in october, Bloc Party would be amazing, and The Bravery or Editors would be fitting. What about Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip? Seems like the kind of weird project that would get the support place. Feeder are a great live band, and would be a good support for them, as would Kill Hannah, MGMT or Ash. Silversun Pickups would also be a brilliant support act for them, and i'd be also pleased if it was TV On The Radio, Wolf Parade or Black Kids. Could be so many good support acts for them, but I bet we'll get some shit like Empire Of The Sun or The Veronicas :(

could it be the same thing as MCR, where each supports in the others country. if so, linkin park are releasing an album next year :p
Porcupine Tree would be immense, they have a new album out soon too. Although they probably wouldn't be that conventional a choice. I wouldn't half mind seeing Puggy play, they supported Incubus a couple years ago and were absolutely fantastic!
I've also sent Guy of Reuben a MySpace message seeing if they'll reform ;) I haven't really, but hopefully someone has no brains/lots of guts to!

As a lot of you seem to be asking for White Lies as support just a quick heads up. Their own tour in November is on sale this Friday and they will be a presale on Wednesday. Seems to be the Academy circuit with dates I have seen in Newcastle, Sheffield, Nottingham, Norwich, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and Brixton but may be more
Obviously not going to be support for Muse therefore but thought worth posting in case anyone wants to try and get tickets.
Presale links will probably be on their website but if anyone wants to PM me I will pass on once they are posted.
I'm glad it isn't White Lies to be honest. I don't think they are anything really special to be honest.

Anyone remember The Noisettes for the BH&R tour? Aka 30 mins of HELL! (I don't actually remember if it was 30 mins long or not; felt like days :stunned:) Judging by that, I'd say support will be shite. And the Wembellamy Stadium support acts don't count, they were one-off, purposely OTT events, so they had to get some big names (although only some of them were any good. Mainly Biffy tbh, lol).

Any idea how much the tickets are?

As long as it isn't the Noisettes again... man those gold lame pants were just... just... horrid.
Personally not too bothered who supports.
The Noisettes supported Maximo Park and were awesome but they kinda fit into the same genre so they kinda work however, them supporting Muse would be shit cos they're nothing a like they need a band that is electronic but with a bit of rock..DAFT PUNK! HAHA

sorry mate, looks like placebo is impossible.
Their tour dates clash with muse's. they are performing nights muse are.
My personal thoughts on the matter are, I'm not to fussed if i like them or not just as long as its not someone i hate (ie. glasvegas or kasabian) both of which are unfotunately free during muse's uk tour.
If I had to put my money on anyone it would be Franz ferdinand.
Their nonstop europe tour takes a mysterious break for a month from late october to late november.
these dates coincide with the uk leg of muse's tour. I'm hoping its them.

does nobody think it weird franz have a month gap in the middle of their nonstop tour. I mean tours rarely have a gap in the middle of them right, you get maybe 1 or two days off between gigs , that doesn't change, even when you switch continents, but franz have a month gap in between their european gigs and their uk gigs. This all coincides with the same dates muse begin their uk date.
hmm, I just think this seems very coincidental.
do bands choose their support as far ahead as this. for franz to be supporting them this decision would have to have been made along time ago before franz drew up their own tour.
