I saw Muse at the Liverpool Academy the last time they played in here.....10 years ago.........i paid £8 and they were supported by a little band called Coldplay.

People on this board crying about playing Jimmy Kane/they have lost their energy etc? It is pathetic. The great thing about Muse is that they are always moving forward and growing - they never look back. The songs they leave out of a setlist, such as Muscle Museum/Citizen Erased etc are songs other bands would kill for.

They are constantly growing and pushing the boundaries. Of course they are not the same band from Showbiz/Origin - they are x10 better than that now. A fantastic, thrilling show - I can't say enough good things about them.

I met Muse at Virgin in Manchester when they were doing an instoor gig for the release of Sunburn single - and they seemed happy guys then who were loving it........from my view last night, they were exactly the same guys - loving the gig.

Brilliant.

10/10

Thank you for your post.:) It can be a bit disheartening, to say the least, to continuously have to read all the other stuff, particularly not having seen Muse live that much. I just think they're absolutely fantastic. I love their old stuff but also their new stuff.:D They enjoy themselves and don't take themselves too seriously. I wish we, as fans, could learn from them a bit more as I think how you feel yourself inside makes a big difference to how you feel the atmosphere is. Chilled fans have more fun! These forums are nice but they do tend to make mountains out of molehills. At the end of the day it's meant to be enjoyable and enriching! :) Listening to The Resistance, for me, brings about exactly those feelings. :)

Awesome review! :D

What do you mean by look at the back of the arena though? Assuming you dont mean anything technical...the way the lasers project on to the back wall looks brilliant if thats what you mean

Yeah that's what I meant, there are so many "laser spots" on the back wall/ roof it's like a wierd green universe, very impressive.

I can't be arsed to read through all these pages, so I've no idea what people are saying about last night  But I had a great time at last nights gig - it was the 3rd one I've seen on this tour, and it was still utterly fantastic. Tbh, I still can't get over the fact that me and Anya rocked up so late and still managed to get on the barrier in front of Chris :awesome: Nor can I get over the fact that the lad next to me who I was talking to for about half an hour turned out to be olliemuse off here

Oddest moment of the night - the girl who ran up to me from the other side of the venue after the gig had finished and asked me if I was Alex, and that she knew me off twitter/here. And when I said yes, and what was her username, she said I wouldn't know her - she just knew me  No idea how she knew who I was, or how she managed to recognise me from the other side of the venue, but hey  She was still really sweet.

SO YEAH. In short, a great gig. Yeah, the setlist may have been pretty similar, but I don't give a toss - I still had an amazing time, and so did everyone around me! The Liverpool crowd was amazing, and they were really friendly too

Did anyone see that group of scouse chavs that kept shouting for Michael Jackson? They all rushed to the barrier when Muse came on and about an hour later a girl that was with them passed out so they all left.

They were stood in the centre about 6 rows back.

Don't be disheartened; I was once too after reading all the bitching and moaning about the length of the sets and the song choices, and how people think Muse have 'lost it' but after seeing them in Sheffield and Liverpool these past couple of days I can absolutely, positively say they haven't lost a thing; if anything they have gained momentum - the stage production is just out of this world and really adds to the epic atmosphere of the gig.

I'm probably not far from the mark in saying the majority of those whinging about the quality of the show are just jumping on the bandwagon and haven't attended any of the gigs themselves.

It really annoys me though when fans say 'oh.. this is the 13th time I have seen them, the set list was rubbish and it was exectly the same as the last 3 times I have seen them this tour, and I don't suppose it will change for the next 6 that I am seeing too'

... simple answer DONT GO TO AS MANY GIGS, Personally, I would watch them if the sing a set of nursery rhymes!

Bring on the O2!

I've just picked up on this post...

How were we suppose to know that Muse were not going to vary their set list when we bought our tickets? If we had gone to all the 2006 UK dates then we'd have gotten a different set list every night. No fan would have bought a of tickets for different dates if they knew that hardly anything in the set list would change.

Hey!!! God, not posted on here in so long!

Just been having a mooch at this thread and i'm quite surprised at the variation of comments!

I thought last night was brilliant, 6th Muse gig i've been too and probably 2nd best out of those 6 (Dublin was immense at Marlay Park, it'll be tough to beat it :D).

To be honest i didn't even notice how many songs were played, i noticed about how early it finished, but as you know they started early! But football was being played in Liverpool last night, that may have had an effect on timings as it was a UEFA Cup game!

Anyway, i loved last night, the crowd was good too! Myself and iSteph were standing, no arseholes anywhere and had a great view! Can't wait for London on Thursday now!!!

PEE.ESS I know the Big Pink were booed, but they were honestly horrendous. Those light were awful, i hope there wasn't anyone affect by those like, but they made me feel ill! I couldn't here a word the guy was singing either. I watched them with an open mind (i already don't like their song Dominoes) as i hoped they might be decent. Can't believe i'll have to see them again

I didn't really like tbh. On the other hand, i don't know how you're suppose to enjoy a concert when you don't know any of the songs - so it's not really fair to say they were bad. However, I do think there was a slight excessive use of strobe lighting and smoke.

This christmas i'm not buying anyone presents.
I'm doing lots of charity work.
I'm currently packing up things for Operation Christmas Child which i do every year :)
So regarding these badges i'm thinking that i'll sell them to anyone who wants one and then give all the proceeds to World Vision.
I like World Vision because if i'm correct they're the leading charity that donates the majority of their money to the actual cause where as Oxfam (who i hate) only give 6% although i think it's risen to 10% but that's still RIDICULOUSLY low.
Anyway, i know not a lot of you are willing to pay THAT much for just a badge.
But i like to think that i'm donating on the fact that people in poor countries will never experience music events to this scale.
I only have 11 remember!
If you're interested in donating for a badge and a good cause and warm feeling just PM me :)

I just thought it'd be a nice gesture.

If you didn't see the badges, here they are again:

http://i35.tinypic.com/2w32ag0.jpg

Also, regarding Biffy.
I think the reason they only did Europe was the fact that they are on tour this precise moment as well. So couldn't do the whole leg of the tour.
In fact they're here in Manchester on Saturday.

I think most people have probably seen them anyway when i uploaded them to Facebook but New Born, We Are The Universe/Uprising and USoE (soon) are on youtube now for easier viewing etc

Thanks for recording and sharing with us!
I love the fact all three of them are projected on the screen individually and can be seen even from the far on the Uprising set.

Were The Big Pink any good? I managed to get there 10mins before Muse came on so by the time i'd got a couple of beers, a hotdog and took my seat the lights went out and the evening started..

See, I quite liked them, but the strobe lighting was ridiculous - half of the people at the barrier had to cover their eyes for the whole set, because it really was that bad :noey: I think I shall be taking my sunnies to Birmingham/London!

I had to cover my eyes with my t-shirt at one point, it was horrendous at the barrier! They seriously ought to have a word with themselves about that lighting.

Oh my word... just how tired am I this morning. I got home at 1.00am after sitting on the bloody multistorey car park for a generation on the top floor.

Great gig... loved the set and Matt's mirror lasers, we got a wave as he left the stage *faints*.... Whilst the whole gig was great it didn't blow me away the same but that is probably because its the 6th time I have seen them... that said though I would go again... oh, what ... I AM going again, next week! :D

We were seated, really should have been standing as I am probably very annoying to have a seat either next to or behind as I dont sit and move about/jump up and down quite a bit.

I used up a full 8G memory card in my camera on videos :D

It really annoys me though when fans say 'oh.. this is the 13th time I have seen them, the set list was rubbish and it was exectly the same as the last 3 times I have seen them this tour, and I don't suppose it will change for the next 6 that I am seeing too'

... simple answer DONT GO TO AS MANY GIGS, Personally, I would watch them if the sing a set of nursery rhymes!

Bring on the O2!

Yeah i think we must have been! I know it didn't really make much difference in the grand scheme of things, but still, it annoys me... i'm too polite to shove in. Well, in a queue, at least. I wasn't as nice in the actual pit  :erm:

and didn't they! it was when the dude said "no under 14's" these two girls next to me started to giggle - they were only about 12. Of course (because i'm just such a nice person) i found it funny when they got hauled out of the pit during New Born cause they couldn't hack it

hahahaha ! god knows what they wud be like in a proper pit then :) no offence to muse there, coz the pit was shown on one of the backdrops, and it looked ok from the split second i saw of it.

Never been to the Echo arena before, but really liked the venue. The concert was absolutely amazing...I love Muse. Love all the albums, but my fav is still the Origin of Symmetry as that's when I first really got into them, so glad they played New Born and Plug in Baby....wish i was watching it all over again tonight in Dublin....

Hey Ollie, I was stood next to you at the gig last night :)

I feel exactly the same as you! Really enjoyed the gig and no complaints from me! I was 2nd from the barrier and there was not many arseholes around either! :D

ooh probably! It was too funny not to tell :D

8am?! Blimey, I got there about 5pm and managed to get on the rail

:erm: Perhaps they were stood still themselves because the people behind them weren't actually moving back?

oh no, everyone behind them moved and they just stayed as a mob so the people in front of them couldn't move back.

Ah thanks :)

I know, I felt so sorry for you guys! I had to do that the previous day at Sheffield, I slept in the rain and everything! It was horrendous. Still I got center barrier despite the turnstile not opening (Again, it happened at Wembley last time) so it was worth it!

The rain was horrible though, it never stopped! I swear the weather hates Muse fans. Everytime there's a gig it's constant rain.

It was bonfire night too - there had to be rain :(

Yeah, i think it was Nat who tweeted that they did ours earlier cause they had to catch a ferry to Dublin. I think they came on around 8.15 which is why they finished early - we didn't miss out on anything :)

Yeah i heard that in Sheffield a couple of people were taken carried out before the Muse gig even started because they had epileptic fits from the lights show from The Big Pink. You'd think after that tragic result they'd at least shut out that light show. Or tone it down a bit.

I know what you mean about being small!
I'm 5'3" and 20 years old, i look like i'm 15.
I like to think it'll do me favours when i'm older ;)
But i find that with being small it's easier to get to the front.
I started off at the back and ended up at the front.
I like how because we're small people look after us.
At my first Muse gig, people were dragging me into the mosh pit but a huge burly hairy man looked after me, unfortunately he got taken away into the mosh pit (R.I.P)
However there are often selfish dicks as well.
This guy next to me the other night was taking photos but kept elbowing me in the face.

Manners eh?

I am also a small person at 5"1 (must be a muser thing ) which is why I made it my mission to get decent seated tickets. Standing looked amazing though, however I don't think i'd have been able to cope...I'll wait til i grow a couple more inches I think

Well I had a great time :-) We were about 6 rows from the front on Matt's side.
Massively impressed to hear Nishe, of all the gig's I've been to that's one of the older one's I've never heard live before!
The biggest difference between this gig and all the others I've been to? - The band smiled so much this time! Really looked like thay were enjoying it which was so good to see :D

It didn't seem to work for me on Thursday  maybe because I was spending most of my time getting dragged in, or working really hard to not get dragged in to the mosh pits, but it didn't work most of the time anyway
Aww, you're so lucky for getting to the front! I would have done anything to get there :(
I couldn't tell you how many times I got elbowed in the head :indiff:

Immense gig!! - probably the best I've been to, and I am up to about 8 now I think. Absolutely nothing to complain about - sound, visuals, energy, their enjoyment of the Liverpool crowd (full marks! Matt didn't need to sing TIRO or PIB)...

We were sat in the lower tier dead centre and there were people stood up throughout. A handful at first but by the end, it was a handful left sat down. Exogenesis (1) was really good, then PIB and KOC to close...it doesn't get any better. I absolutely freaked when Matt hit the massive distortion and chords at the end of PIB, took me hours to come down! The whole place was just bouncing and roaring by Knights...

But it was all great. Perfect perfect perfect!

:D

Watch out for a mental bit of fast drumming and bass work from Dom & Chris by themselves, not sure what they call it...

Did any of you happen to see that crowdsurfer who took a picture of himself with the security?

YES, he made me crack up!

oh no, everyone behind them moved and they just stayed as a mob so the people in front of them couldn't move back.

Eh? I was stood next to them, and I can promise you that the people behind them weren't moving back - not enough, at least.

I love that when i played the riff video, your cat avatar was headbanging to it.

!

Oh wow, it was the best night of my life! I just spent the whole time in awe. That was despite being caught in the mosh pit a few times at the beginning and dying slightly, gutted I couldn't get any closer, so I eventually gave up and moved back  Would like to have seen a bit more, but what can you do when you're 5'1  But still, facking amazing night :D Most people around me looked after me, which was really nice  And immediately afterwards, I wanted to go again :D Can't wait for their next tour!!

This guy next to me the other night was taking photos but kept elbowing me in the face.
Manners eh?

This :yesey:
I'm 5'4" so i've got it a bit better, but still.
The guys i was next to on the bar were total douches. There was one guy behind me who put his arms over my shoulders and placed all his weight on top oh me right at the beginning - i thought i was going to die. But then the security man told him to get the fuck off of me, and he did  He was really nice, the one without the yellow vest on? If any guy elbowed me or tried to smother me in order to get to the front, he would either haul them out of shout at them until he moved. He also kept giving me cups of water. He was the dude i got the setlist off to - he was mah lil hero for the gig
But anyway, i thought the guys in the pit would look out for the girls, but no, they just take advantage of you :(

I know :supersad: I wanted to meet you so much! I spent most of my queuing time in the wrong queue though, so that's probably why I didn't see you queueing. FAIL. We got to about ten to 6, then one of the stewards said, "so, are you all city side?" me and my mate were like, oh, fack. But thankfully, the riverside queue wasn't too long, in fact we got in before some of our mates in the cityside queue! I hope we can meet up another time! (hopefully I'll be less sweaty next time ;))

I don't think anybody really knew what was happening with regards to queueing - me and Anya asked someone where the riverside queue was (I know that's a daft question when you think about it, but neither of us had been to Liverpool before ), and they said there was no riverside queue, everybody was simply queueing at cityside. . .then someone else said there were seperate queues. . .then just the one again. . .so confusing!

But yes, we'll definitely see each other next time

Aww, we were massively confused too. And we're from Liverpool! After being told we were in the cityside queue, we went to another queue round by the river, and thought wow, this is REALLY short! And then we realised it was only the seated queue, so we had to go downstairs and find the standing queue. Which was considerable longer :indiff: They should really make it clearer!

I was Riverside standing but it was absolutely pissing down so i ran into a tiny entrance where other people were. And then i asked what this entrace was and it was standing. The little entrance between Cityside and Riverside. And someone said i could queue here since i was standing, i didn't need to go to Riverside.

Amazing gig. Just a shame the seated crowd were absolute bollocks! It was literally me, my sister and two other girls holding down the fort. Everyone was just stood there, looking bored. Arseholes, shouldn't have bothered going if they were just going to stand there and being boring fuckers! Sorry... just annoyed.

Anyway, yeah! Gig did feel rather short. But I am still extremely pleased with them. Just wish they had played Bliss like last time. That song is my absolute favourite live. I hope everyone had a fantastic time. G'night, kiddos!

I was in seating - upper tier Chris's side and I was up for the whole of the gig with no apologies whatsoever for those behind me - Who in their right minds can stay in their seats when Uprising starts the show?

Yeah, that was pretty weird

Sorry to bring this up again but i thought that it's for a good cause and is related to Muse directly:

[B]
[COLOR="Red"]http://i35.tinypic.com/2w32ag0.jpg

I wont scam you, trust me.
I'll be using paypal.
And will use my video screen capture software to record me donating :)
Donate however much you so desire.
2 badges have gone already so snap up yours.
