They just announced a 4-date support tour with Powderfinger, but the next headline tour hasn't been announced yet, but I guess/hope April kinda time.

Got this email, thought you might wanna know if you were a fan:

Hi,

Here is some news on your chance to win some rare Kinesis stuff. We have a few
signed copies of the ultra-rare Worship Yourself mini-album to give away, and as
well as the CDs we have posters, stencil sets, Tshirts and badges.

Such valuable prizes warrant a real effort, so this is no 'picked from a hat'
kind of competition. What we want you to do is write an essay or any kind of
prose on the subject of 'You Are Being Lied To'. It could be about mistruths in
the media, in culture as a whole, or a specific event or incident which you know
about, or are willing to research. It doesn't have to be political, as long as
it is informative and interesting to read. It could be a short story or
illuminating tale which highlights the theme. The winners (there is no limit on
the number of winners, just the highest qualoty entries will be used) will be
used as part of a new project we are planning, involving some names you would
recognise.

It's holiday time now, most of you have nothing better to do - why not set
yourself a challenge and see what you can come up with. We hold our fans in high
regard - show us what you are capable of. Take your time and email your entry to
competition@kinesis-official.co.uk . Entries should be in by the end of April.
Good luck.

Britrock

Yes, yes they have. But Independiente were shite anyway, so they're signing onto an indy label and are going to do it all again.

And it's spelt KINESIS!! It isn't difficult. And they already had a thread. (http://www.muse.mu/board/showthread.php?t=6&highlight=kinesis)

Yes, they're currently recording their new album in their own studio, and they're going to release it on a Indy label more than likely.

Well the album did sell badly (although you tell me if you saw the promotion), and none of the singles have done much yet, so they kinda expected it.

to be honest the first i'd heard knowingly of them was supporting Muse, but i recognised One Way Mirror, though apart from that i thought they were ok-ish but i was highly anticipating Muse at the time,
im listening off their site now, they remind me so much of Manic Street Preachers with their sloganning and talk of equality and generation plus the sound is similar, though working with Dave Eringa would probably help that though (MSP producer if you didnt know)

all in all im starting to like them so i'll shut up and listen now,

from an industry point of view, independiente kind of despised them - wanted them to tone everything down, make poppier songs, yada yada yada - i knew they wouldnt be releasing a second album through them about 8 months ago probably? Well before handshakes for bullets cam out anyway.

from a personal point of view, the manics were 10 years ago.

No, but it can get boring, generic and predictable. The early demos and stuff of Kinesis were really pomising - the later singles were over produced tosh for kids in feather boas and lepoard print who think cross dressing is cool. Not their fault, probably the label, but lets face it, pollitical rock with heavy riffs is never going to be the most original and mindblowing stuff...

Hmm, the new stuff should be interesting, see if the record company really was changing their style. And i got the Everything Destorys Itself single so im currently trying to figure out which version of Zyklon B is better.

That's easy. If you like the newer version more, you should be strung up. It sounds like it was recorded on a dictaphone, the oringinal kicks its arse so badly they're almost unrecognisable.

And the record company hasn't made them more "poppy", in fact, frm what I read on the message board, they're getting heavier. And the album will definitely be more "raw" as the guys are producing it themselves.

If Independiente had heard their demos (Worship Yourself) they obviously knew they were going to write pretty heavy songs with political lyrics etc, so if they wanted a pop act to sell millions of albums, why the hell did they sign them? Just as well I don't like Travis or the So Solid Crew, so I don't have to worry about putting any effort into ignoring Independiente, they don't even promote those bands very well...

just thought id bump this up for anyone intesterested in hearing some new kinesis stuff

http://www.kinesis-official.co.uk

there is a cover of a song, and also 3 30 second samples of new songs, load very qucikly and quality is good

personally i think that they sound incredible, the guitar on sample 1 is just awesome and if they can keep that up throughout the album which it sounds like they will it will be one of the best albs of 2005

Britrock

Guitar on song 1 is ace, bass at the end of 2 sounds funky and 3 is back to the old-school screamy bits. Nice. And the cover ain't half bad too. Kinesis return! :D

Good news and bad news.

Good - www.captainsof.com Yes, that is Kinesis playing in the background, a new single is out - You Are Being Lied To - which is free to download from the site. A new album of the same name will be out on June 13th as well, pre-order from the site too.

:D

Bad - it will mark the end of the bands career. They're going to release it and then split. Read www.youarebeingliedto.com to find out more (and of course the band's home page www.kinesis-official.com).

Hi there,

This is just a quick note to let you know that Kinesis return with their swansong album, 'You Are Being Lied To', released on Captains Of Industry on June 13th.

For those who haven't heard the band, it is an unholy combination of Rage Against The Machine-styling, Muse dynamics (in fact, I can't see how Muse fans won't like this record!), Pixies bluster - with maybe even traces of Suede, Queen and Bowie in there too. It's the record they've been threatening to make since their formation in 2000.

On the day of the album's release the band will be no more.
They will commit career hare kiri in order to pursue a variety of things, including the Church Of Scientology, Cuba and philosophy and music production.

They were a pretty cool band. They rocked on the pre-support slot at the MEN arena for Muse. Having said that, when I saw and heard them as I was coming in, I did think it was Placebo

Seriously, it fucking owns. Only 10 songs long, but damn, they're good. Perception Management in particular has a Hysteria/Stockholm Syndrome cross breed riff going on.

Reviving due to awesomeness.

For me, 'Handshakes For Bullets' beats 'You Are Being Lied To' but both are great albums.

Such a shame they packed it in, they were a really great band.
