Just wondering what other Musers thought of this particularly amazing television series. Somehow i always connected Muse with sci-fi in a twisted sort of way. I'm very saddened that the re-runs have been kicked off the air on Sci-fi to make room for "Sliders" *noise of extreme disgust*, a sorry, sorry excuse for a series when compared with the X-files, though the show certainly lost much of its quality when Mulder left, but Dogget is acceptably cool. Anyway, enough of my rambling.......

Woo! Sorry to plague all your posting spots, but you know that I adore the X-Files (they were on I Love the 90s today it was very exciting). The series became crap after Scully got pregnant, although there were a few good episodes every now and again. The X-Files movie was very good.
Ah, and we can't forget the question always asked in relation to the show: Are you more of a Scully or a Mulder? I am more of a Scully it seems.
Nishe
16-07-2004, 04:38 AM
well Scully is in control and kicks ass with her incredible intelligence and reasoning, buuuuuut, Mulder's fucking mad, and frankly i identify with that
I used to love all the first series', but it seemed to drag on a bit...

As everything goes in TXF this was left to our imagination. We know Jeffrey Spender and Mulder were half-brothers. So he was Mulder's dad... but we don't really ever find out if he was Samantha's.

Yeah it's alien. The Black oil... teehee.
The aliens are damn clever, they come in the form of this crazy oil (which is how they take over people and how they plan to colonise the Earth), normal human-looking people with green blood and the true form of the typical "greys".

I watched it from the start but kind of gave up on it near the last two series or something like that. In the beginning it was mostly one-off shows, but as it went on, more and more of them were conspiracy shows and I just don't have a good enough memory to have kept track of what was going on. I loved the daft episodes though - they were great.. Especially Small Potatoes

Small Potatoes was hilarious! I really love those funny ones. :D
I agree with your point though, I stopped watching the stand alone episodes in seasons 8 and 9 because it just wasn't the same without Mulder and Scully. I think I still kept up to date with the mythology (the conspiracy story) shows. But it got a bit ridiculous for me, with Mulder dying and coming back to life after 3 months... it was a bit too far fetched I think.

I live for the funny/make-no-sense ones. That one with Cher was so bizarre...and I seem to be the only one that remembers it.

I love the show. Ive seen most of the first series, a few episodes in the second and third and the entire last 2 series. I think it was better with mulder and scully but hey, suppose they've gotta change something.
Ive heard that now they finished the series forever they're gonna release a few more movies just to round things off, because they left the series in a pretty random place. Cant wait for that.

The X-Files is running again on sky one everyday at 1.15pm so you get to see all the golden oldies.I stopped watching towards the latter series because it was just shit without Mulder,he was the whole point of the x-files so to carry on without him was proposterous!Plus it got far too confusing for me

Seeing as you know plenty about the x-files...which one is it where there a bloke that eats everything and doesn't talk all the way through it and some little red man that crawls out of this guys chest everynight and scully is trapped with it in this hall of mirrors thing...and in the end the guy eats the red man and smiles and says something like ''must've been something I ate''

The aliens in the X-files are real. While Matt sings about zetas who "are just our leaders in disguise'

In an article in Parade (magazine) published on August 6, 2006, David Duchovny confirmed that there would in fact be a sequel to the first X-Files movie, Fight the Future. "We're all signed on," he said of the movie. "I think it could work very well as a sequel, an authentic franchise that will hold up—much more so than Mission: Impossible." [4]
In a posting on her website, Gillian Anderson has also stated herself that she is very much willing to take part in the project:
"And as far as the X-F movie? I have no f****** clue. I think there's still a law suit, as far as I know the script has not been written, and as much as we all want it to take place as soon as possible, AND YES THAT INCLUDES ME, AND ALWAYS HAS, SO STOP WITH THE NONSENSE! It is out of my hands. Completely. Write to Fox guys, tell them to make it happen!"
She said the f word :)

Yea I didn't like it with that agent Doggett in it :noey: the guy who plays him freaks me out frankly.
I watched the episode Millenium the other night on living, so they must be showing season 7. that episode was was the one with that guy who plays Donnie Darko's dad, he played a guy who was bringing an ex agent back from the dead.

Season 7 is awesome. Season 8 is when it goes tits up. ;)
Toward the end of Season 8, anyway. I did love Doggett. And Reyes. But somehow the stories weren't as good, and I just missed Mulder & Scully too much. :(
And wtf was with Mulder's resurrection.
What a silly concept - dead for 3 months, but not. Lol. It worked though, that season 8 episode (with the death of Krycek) was fucking AMAZING. I kinda stopped watching in season 9 but tuned back in for the kick-ass finale.

You know though, I've been so disconnected from the series for so long, I really haven't a clue how the mythology tied off anymore. And I don't have the DVDs, so going back isn't really an option right now. :(
Then again, from what I do remember, the series (including the mythology) started getting pretty crap in the last couple of seasons--things were getting just way too far-flung and ridiculous. Maybe a sort of fresh start is called for.

It did get ridiculous in season 8, but the finale ended absolutely brilliantly. Spot on.
I tend to ignore everything after the conclusion of season 7 and skip straight to the finale. In fact I don't have season 8 or 9 on dvd, just up to 7 and the finale on VHS, taped off the telly. (apart from a VHS of Deadalive (series 8) which has the whole death/resurrection of Mulder and the death of Krycek which is the BEST SCENE EVER ON TELLY EVER).
Mulder & Scully ended up in New Mexico, Smoking Man told them everything, including the date of the alien invasion, Mulder & Scully were being chased by killer supersoldiers and government bastards who bombed the... things trying to kill them, and got the Smoking Man all dead instead.
Mulder & Scully escaped, and we last saw them on the run, in a hotel room which was a brilliant mirror of the hotel room scene in the pilot episode... AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENS NEXT, Chris Carter, you massive rubbish head.
I don't want a monster of the week film! I want a giant apocalyptic disaster movie about December 2012. :yesey:

About the later ones.... I wanna say, it's not Doggett's fault. Some of the episodes are wishy washy and Reyes is a bit rubbish, even though nobody can replace Mulder, Doggett is still the man.

It's ace, it's a take `take no shit from nobody` accent, and much easier to do than David Duchovny.

Hmmm. Was there just one movie before then? I thought there was more.
I loved the X-files, all the mythology and stuff. Then there was an episode where they said everything that's happened before was a set-up/lie or something. Which made me think "Um, o...k"
Then it got a bit weird and complicated and started going downhill and I was told it gets worse and Mulder leaves and they bring in new characters that suck so I stopped watching.
I was a bit disappointed with the Mulder's sister storyline too, though I can't even remember what happened exactly. Just that it was a bit of an anti-climax. I fear I may have abandoned it too hastily though, is there any redeeming elements from about Series 6-7ish onwards, Gemsy?

I think they actually do to be honest. Go get us some now!
And awh, you have the awesome boxset. I got the one without the movie, and the box which easily breaks from dodgy cardboard. I even had one of the discs twice in a series- made a decent coaster.
Not a scratch on these though: :(

Chris Carter is a gaylord.
There are no pre-screenings, no reviews, no advertising - no NOTHING. I mean, it might be different in other countries, but his fucking retarded paranoia will make the film flop in Russia despite the fandom. I talked to people at Fox and they said that the silence was brought about by Carter himself. They have the money to ensure a healthy box office, but NO.

Dunno. I doubt he'll be around for the official premiere; the closest I've come into contact is through Fox's Russian department.
But it is silly. I can't believe he's throttling the biggest project he's got left in him. Also, I just looked at the other entries on his IMDB profile, and his other future project also has no mention of plot or anything else, despite already having a fully-assembled cast and (I assume) being in progress.
He's just got a real bad case of paranoia, and it sucks.

ME NEITHER. You just can't have an XF film without at least a slight mention of the mythology. There has to be at least a nod to it. Even if there's just a glimpse of Krycek hiding in the shadows or something, that'll do.

MULDER: There's a Michael Jackson joke in here somewhere, but I can't quite find it.
MULDER: Is it possible that he took the term "mud pie" literally?
MULDER: Did I mention that Mr. Betts had no head?
SCULLY: Mulder, if you had to do without a cell phone for two minutes, you'd lapse into catatonic schizophrenia.
MULDER: In my case... little green men.

That doesn't narrow it down much. Which scene and where is he?
Hmm.
The end was fun, with the gruesome surgery etc and I liked a couple of the Mulder and Scully scenes, and had to giggle when Skinner showed up, but overall I found it too slow paced and quite lacking in good plot. It didn't feel like a "film" and after 3/4s I was actually very bored, before it picked up again at the end.
It didn't help that I really wasn't interested in the religious aspect at all.
Disappointing. Maybe I was expecting something different.

I went last night, and we were just trying to find somewhere to park when there was this massive thud on my window, and I looked round to find my bro smeared across it. Lol. "Are you going to see the Files?!" :D :D :D :D :D :D
BRILLIANT. Just like old times when we'd watch Files together. :D We cheered and threw the horns:
when Mulder had his back to Scully in the office, like a parody of the Pilot episode.
PENCILS IN THE CEILING! LOVELOVELOVE!
The mention of all the other psychic case files (Clyde Bruckman, et al)
SKINNERRR!
I didn't like all the 'ass' jokes with the paedophile priest, that was a bit poor. On the other hand, Mulder didn't tell enough poor jokes. And there was too much Samantha-woe. He got closure on that ages ago, there was no need for Scully to bring it up in that moment, especially as they are apparently living together now so that was just unrealistic. Him looking at the picture on the wall was enough to remind us of Samantha, and that's all that they should've done as a nod to her.
I'm glad it was set nowadays and not in the past. But I wanted to know how they got let off of being chased and wanted at the end of the finale! I was hoping for MOAR STORY, y'know. The plot itself was okay, I didn't find it disappointing but it was more like an episode than a movie. If that was an episode I'd have been on the edge of my seat, but I did find myself rofling a lot, especially at the two-headed dog. Lol. And I liked the ending, haha.
