It also apparently gives you terrible stomach pains at the end of the night

If so, mine is Budwiser/Budvar in bottle form and Fosters in pint form as Bud is very rare on tap :( .

How can you afford to drink Guinness at 17? In Ireland cans are pretty dear like 2.60 each. My mates usually go for shitty Hackenberg which is a euro a can and tastes like piss.

Guiness .
a proper pint of guinness tbh.
if your getting stomach pains its because your stomach is to small to take a pint of liquid which is as thick as guinness, plus you prolly didnt let it settle,
buy pint, take pint to table, watch pint settle, make small talk before ignoring everyone for the beer youve just waited 5 minutes for :D

Word of advice: Never go to Spain and drink their beer. It tastes like dirt.
My favourites would have to be Kilkenny because it's buttery smooth like Guiness but not as bitter, Miller Lite and Corona. As for other drinks, I'm more of a gin and tonic fan.

I drink cider, and get laughed at for it, but by the time all the beer has run out and they are starting to sober up, i am still going on cider, then i have the last laugh.

Plus Heineken and Swedish beer's wonderful, cause you can drink loads of it and not get hungover/keep needing to wee every two minutes.
God, how I hate the peeeeing part. Usually, after 2-3 beers, every new bottle\glass of beer results in one trip to the lil' boy's room. :$
But you know what they say about men with a small bladder :D More room for other, more important 'organs' :)

Lagers- San miguel, particularly in summertime. If i'm outdoors i'll get a big litre bottle or two and relax in the sun with some chums. I avoid carling, fosters and carlsberg like the plague.
Beer- Tetleys is great, probably more my thing than most lagers. Any kind of bitter is normally fine, really, though i'm not too keen on john smiths.
Wine is where its at! Bottle or maybe two of red for hardcore and pleasant drinking ness.

you're all noobs, Belgian Trappist beer is what it's all about! :p
There are 6 Trappist beers in Belgium and 1 in Holland
Not every beer can be called a Trappist, there are strict rules:
- it has to be brewed in an abbey
- by monks
- the profit that is made is given to charities and poor people
My favorite one is Westmalle Tripel:
http://www.lesmoules.cz/photos/pivo/westmalle-tripel.gif
here's a shot I took in a local café:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2264/2445553052_a235cd3d48.jpg
I always face the logo on the glass to other people, to seduce them with my fine taste :p
I also like Orval and Tripel Karmeliet
The best beer in the world is probably our trappist Westvleteren, which can only be bought in the abbey
There's a whole procedure, you can only order it by phone and you need to make an appointment, giving them your license plate number and I believe you can only buy a maximum of 2 crates at a time
Also, only 1 café in the world is allowed to sell it, and it's right across the monastry :)
It can usually be found as the best beer in the world on the Top 100 list on www.ratebeer.com
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1132/1343230065_0461c9d564.jpg
The bottles usually have nothing on them :)
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1181/1344120970_a959ec65f0.jpg
beer made with such care and with no lust for profit can only result is such a wonderful product!
I should go a bit easier on them tho, I'm starting to get a beerbelly :p
but at least my beerbelly shows I support charities :D

true I guess, I only drunk one Westvleteren, I liked it but I will need to pick up some in the abbey to judge properly
but Westmalle is probably the best anyway
I've also seen cafés selling Westvleteren illegally for 10 euros per bottle, it's crazy! I'd rather drink 3 or 4 Westmalles instead :p :p

Stella Artois is actually expensive with you guys? :stunned:
I don't know wether or not all the Stella is brewed here in Leuven though. It might very well be that the beer for the foreign market is brewed elsewhere. All depends on the water. Even more so, it's more important than the brewing process and recipe itself. You should come and drink a real Belgian Stella one day :)

Stella is brewed in the UK as well, and for over a decade the advertising slogan was "reassuringly expensive". When put up against comparable lagers in the UK, it is expensive. The problem about brewing lager in the UK is the fact that there's no law about water purity for it, so Belgian, German, and Czech lagers are vastly superior.

Maybe I should send you a can of "real" Stella for taste :D

Last time I was in Belgium I spent so much on Trappist, that when it came down to lager, it had to be Jupiler.

Why do so many pictures of lager have them with massive heads? Honestly, it's stupid. When you have a drink, you want as little head as possible. It goes:
Lager: 0.5cm
Stout: 1-1.5cm
Ale: None
This is law ladies and gentlemen!
Why are so many people going on about Stella Artois? It's gassy piss that for some reason people are willing to spend a relatively high price for.
Tastes vile from anything other than draught and also has the wonderful side effect of making you violent. Why else do you think it has the nickname "Wifebeater"?

That's a weissbier not a lager, and the UK is the only country in the world that has prescribed crappy head levels, some beers are supposed to have a good head.

Yep :p Granted she is pretty damn young to have a 25-year-old daughter, but still. I'm confident of my genes.
Ah we only bothered to pay for the little stage so i thought it was pretty good and decent value for money really!

Still, the point remains. You see it with Heinekken and it annoys the tits off of me. If someone gave me something that was 1/4 head, I'd take it back and tell them to try again.
Anyways, if anyone's into ales and wants something that can only be described as Ambrosia, try this:

It's the only brand of Mud I'll drink regularly.

Jupiler is equally expensive to Stella over here though :stunned:
A lot of people (mostly Walloons and football freaks) prefer it over Stella

I've had some Timothy Taylor stuff, but I've not seen that one before, I'll keep an eye out.

it's annoying to drink :p
I always thought the rule was that the head has to reach til the logo on the glass?
or otherwise 2 fingers wide

Well, it depends on what you're drinking. Obviously some things are just not meant to have head (real ales and ciders for example).
Stout, such as Guinness, is meant to have about half an inch to an inch of head. Normal Guinness is a bastard to pour from tap as it just gets a ridiculous head on it so you've got to pour it differently to Extra Cold in order to not get shouted at by irate Irishmen (honestly, I swear, only the Irish drink normal temperature Guinness. Tried it once and it was like drinking tar :noey:. So much thicker than Extra Cold).
Now Lager depends on the pint, but as a general rule for most mainstream lagers you're looking at giving about just less than half an inch. You want a little bit, but not too much as, lets face it, you want to be drinking liquid, not froth.
