That was breathtaking and touching. I tried to forward this video to another Muse forum but they didn't appreciate it, started to mock the dancers which was a shock. In my opinion that was hypnotizing, the dancers were amazing, and at the same time this was a nice tribute to Muse.

Ruled by Secrecy is not one of my favourite Muse songs (I tend to like the rockier ones more) but that performance is amazing.
Especially when the grand piano comes in. Wow.

I don't understand that because my brain is the size of a peanut :(
I don't care if there's a muse song playing in the background it's still boring. You seem to suggest that I am stupid just because I don't appreciate ice skating.
However, I do appreciate some forms of ice skating for example Ice Princess (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0396652/) and The Mighty Ducks (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104868/). Two great films, the former of which features actual dancing on ice which I enjoyed, especially when Hayden Panettiere was performing.
So overall my point is that, though I dislike this particular routine, I am generally a fan of ice skating/dancing and therefore I am not an airhead.

But they aren't the first to skate to Muse---Shaun Rogers (azureXsmurF here) has used this

hmm i dunno. i don't believe enjoying something cultural makes someone less of an air head. in that respect the comment made to you about having a bit of extra room around your brain, was in itself, ignorant.
But you only spin your own tyres deep into the mud when you respond in the way that you did. You have shown you follow the same mindset of the opposing argument, that you are more intelligent for enjoying ice skating, and even worse you try to prove you like it by refering to cinema (incredulous enough as that is) that had ice skating in, Ice princess was ok as a film but alot of the skating was physically impossible. So really you enjoy special effects and actors on wires as opposed to actual skating.
The Mighty Ducks is an ice hokey film which has nothing to do with the topic here other than the ice they skate on.
So even though i disagree with the arguments ideologies. i do agree that you might infact be a bit... well... :stongue:

got the mp3 player for Xmas, and a nice sunny but not too warm New Year's Day to try getting the skates on for the first time in at least 3 years. At first I was so shaky I didn't know if I could even skate forward, but it came back pretty quickly. I even managed a little backwards skating, and it actually was easiest to do that to Ruled by Secrecy. Thank you John, Sinead and Muse for the inspiration. I might have to get around to replacing these 20 year old skates now.

Yup, I was excited about hearing Muse in the dancing contest too, on Friday (wrote about it as soon as I saw the contest, on the "Where have you heard Muse" thread. I was really happy). Only it wasn't just the Kerrs who skated on Muse, but also the French pair right after them, on Butterflies and Hurricanes. I was wondering when would skaters start choosing Muse for their performances. :) I also feel I should be saying this: you don't necessarily have to jump up and down on it. It should be ok not to like figure skating. I do, and apparently so do others, but it doesn't have to be a criteria for anything. This is because I've seen some strange reactions on this thread. :) It was a theoretically and generally free world when I last checked... :D

I'm such a bad Muse fan. I was watching this on TV and didn't recognize the song until the guitar part started  "I kind of like this music, I wonder what song this is. I've heard it before, but can't remember where. It's probably something old classical stuff - Oh :$"

06-11-2011, 12:12 PM
thank god it's actually someone like Abbott skating to this, as he is very expressive. it's very easy to get a gorgeous piece of music ruined by someone who's just executing the elements and doesnt really bother with interpretation.
shame about the lack of vocals but in singles and pairs it's not possible to use music with vocals for the competitive programs.
hope he has a successful season :)
