Yep they do.

I *may* have a spare standing ticket for Wembley if anyone is interested. Obviously highest bidder wins, but I'm not totally sure if the lad still wants it or not.

When incubus play live, do they play much Science? I was wondering cause we all know it is the best stuff they have done. Buuuuut (and thats a long but) the new album is excellent, so different yet so similar, it is amazing. Talk Shows on Mute and Sick Sda lIttle World are the best stuff inucbus have done since, since, since... Redefine! That took a lot to say... get the album and make up your mind.

Paul

It appears they're not to everyone's tastes! Good for me, I'm a member of the exclusive "I like Incubus" club (that has sold out Wembley arena)

I don't have the spare ticket anymore - the lad has somehow found the money for it. Very valuable those standing tickets - £40 each at least on eBay.

All of their albums are different from one another so it's quite hard to pick a favourite. If I'm in a thrashy nu-metally mood then SCIENCE is great, but if you want a bit of relax then Morning View can't be beaten. The new album was initially disappointing, but it really starts to grow on you. I can't say I love a couple of the tracks near the end, but the first 7 plus the last 2 are excellent.

Priceless is an excellent track - except for the bloody awful chorus. That could have been a classic were it not for "THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE WAS PRICELESS" repeated until you want to press skip.

Paul
26-02-2004, 10:19 AM
sheeldz - I believe they do play a few tracks from SCIENCE. They did that in the US when they played a few festivals in the summer, and they would be mad not to do the same here where their older albums are more popular.

Incubus wooo. The gigs in May should rock with Brand New and Hundred Reasons what i gig that will be.

New album is better than the last one and i really love it. Sick Sad Little World, Here in My Room, Leech, Megalomaniac - All great songs.

Are Hundred Reasons DEFINITELY supporting Incubus?

I know they supported them on their last tour of the UK, but this time as well? Good if it's true, but I need confirmation from an official source before I will believe it

i dunno about the new one, but on the first album definately, i really like the first one it has the scratchy samply business and the guitar sound coupled with the very emotive voice, it definately owes something to Incubus

Back to their tour - the knob-heads have announced extra dates for a few venues - including Newcastle, meaning I'm travelling down to Wembley when they are playing up here a month later

Selling the ticket for Incubus at Wembley on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16067&item=2240932896) now.

I'm not after loads for it (it's not my ticket, its a friends).

If it doesn't sell I'll just have to see if I can flog it at the gig.

incubus are my favourite band, ever. full stop.

i have my ticket for the June 7th Cardiff gig, i can't wait.

i finally found Incubus Morning View Sessions DVD for a reasonable price today, at £10 i snapped it up straight away. just finished watching it, and it's definately worth the £10 for an incubus fan. it has 13 songs from a live show, behind the scenes footage from the show, and a whole load of clips on the making of Morning View and the Wish You Were Here video. it's awesome.

personally, my favourite album is probably Fungus Amongus, i like all the albums in their own way. each album is different from one another, which makes it great listening to them because there is so much variety.

for those people who piss and moan about how "incubus sold out" and all that crap. well, incubus first started out as a "funk metal" band as some may say. if you listen to Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus EP, you can hear this. most of the songs are very complex, and are very different to the incubus now. they used to get thrown into death metal concerts, and pop concerts, because people didn't know how to class them, or who to let them support in a gig. this annoyed them, so they set out to "define" their genre. every band progresses and changes with time, if they didn't, they would just be boring. sure, i love SCIENCE, it's an awesome album, but i just wish people would stop dwelling on the past. they aren't going back to their funk roots, so quit whining about how Morning View sucks, and SCIENCE is the best. please.

respect incubus for what they have done, and the albums they have created. they have moved on, so should you.

Fungus Amongus, while a good laugh, is technically a poor album.

I enjoy some of the songs but compared to newer stuff it's not got any real staying power. Even the band admit that it's just them trying to fit as many chords into a song as possible.

SCIENCE is a nice thrashy record for when you're in a hyper mood, but again is a little simple.

Make Yourself and Morning View are both more technically impressive albums with more complicated arrangements and a little more experimentation.

The new album took a while to grow on me, but I like it now. Saying that, my greatest Incubus tracks would come off all of the albums. The Morning View era is probably the best for me personally, as I could put that album on repeat and leave it.

Agree about the DVD - Morning View sessions is superb, especially through the surround setup downstairs which is very much underused for music for a £1200 setup.

incubliss, whats wrong with saying SCIENCE is your best album? I dont call that dwelling on the past, it's got more to do with being honest and not being able to receive an incubus album with less that unconditional praise..I think as a fan, that it is important to always be critical, and moving on, sure, but incubus does still play songs from the older albums live, so havent they moved on as well? And they have somwhat returnted to thier punkroots with a Crow, I personally heard em say it :D if you listen carefully (and critical this time) you might recognise some Fungus Amongus in da mix  :D

yes, i do notice some fungus in the album, but there isn't alot.

Priceless is very good, and reminds me of fungus alot. i know that they do play some songs from SCIENCE in their setlist now, but i just get fed up with the constant whining about how SCIENCE was their greatest work. yes, it probably is, but i don't need to hear it everytime i read something incubus related. i do like all the albums, each in their own way, some albums grow on me much more, some albums haven't.

Make Yourself has never really grown on me, i find it the most boring. it has some good songs, but i don't find it that great. Morning View is a much better album personally. i know every has an opinion and are aloud to voice it, but i wish some people would just keep what they think to themselves, it does a whole lot of good sometimes.

well I resprect your opinion, so why not respect other's opinions? SCIENCE is frequently called incubus' best album, because there s nothing like SCIENCE, it was like a great experiment, which makes incubus unique in my opinion, and there s nothing wrong with longing back to old times :) Personally I think incubus became way too commercial on Morning View..some songs just sound a bit..fake, but there still are some great ones tho like my incubus nr 2 song ever: Under My Umbrella! And I was pretty relieved actually, that a Crow is a tat more rebellious :D and yes, youre right, Priceless rly sounds fungus-sy!

but i wish some people would just keep what they think to themselves, it does a whole lot of good sometimes.

and what would this thread be for then? Just to say 'INCUBUS ROCKS' once a week..now there s a healthy discussion:rolleyes:

i also respect what you are saying, and yes, i do find that SCIENCE is one of a kind, and it probably won't be repeated again. there's nothing like it.

i know it's a great album, it's just i get annoyed with people giving it SO much praise, when there are some other awesome albums they have created. i came across someone who said SCIENCE was their best, and everything else by incubus was crap. he said that i'm not a proper incubus fan because i like Morning View. that's the type of person i get annoyed at, wouldn't anyone?

SCIENCE is just way too uncomplicated for me.

A few years ago it was great stuff, but now I like music to really grow on me. SCIENCE just doesn't have the hidden depths that some of their later stuff has. It's a great album though! Looking forward to hearing A Certain Shade of Green and Vitamin live.

Speaking of Incubus, Wembley gig tomorrow - who's going?

Travelling down at 6 later today from Newcastle (Friday) then going to the gig on the night. Should be great as my girlfriend and her mate are going too. They're both about 5ft so have got seats (good ones mind) instead of standing, so me and my brother will leave all of our belongings with them. There's nothing quite like going into a moshpit without worrying about dropping your phone or losing your keys!

Wembley gig on Saturday was pretty damn good - better than I expected.

A Certain Shade of Green was something very special indeed, I have never been in such a bouncy crowd as when that track was played. Megalomaniac comes to life live too, it's perfect to open the gig with.

Couldn't stand the heat for the full gig though, I was in the front 3 rows ish for the first half of the gig but had to start heading further back for some air once we got to Vitamin.

The drum solo was also a highlight - that's some stamina Jose has!

Full set list was:

1. MEGALOMANIAC
2. A CROW LEFT OF THE MURDER
3. WARNING
4. IDIOT BOX
5. JUST A PHASE
6. PRICELESS
7. NOWHERE FAST
8. WISH YOU WERE HERE
9. PANTOMIME (with Brandon on Guitar)
10. HERE IN MY ROOM
11. DRIVE (Bass and Piano Version)
12. PISTOLA
13. DRUM, BASS AND DJ JAM
14. VITAMIN
15. JOSE'S DRUM SOLO (about 10 minutes long)
16. EVERYTHING IS DEAD
17. BEWARE! CRIMINAL
18. CROWDED ELEVATOR
19. TALK SHOWS ON MUTE
20. SUMMER ROMANCE (ANTI-GRAVITY LOVE SONG) (Including a cover of Kelis' 'Milkshake' where the saxophone solo should have been)
21. MAGIC MEDICINE
22. A CERTAIN SHADE OF GREEN
------------------------------------------------

23. BEN'S BASS SOLO
24. SICK, SAD, LITTLE WORLD
25. ARE YOU IN?
------------------------------------------------

Besides being in a different order, at Newcastle we got Cirlces, Nice To Know You, I Miss You, Under My Umbrella and The Warmth

At Wembley, we got Warning, Are You In, Summer Romance, Pistola and Crowded Elevator.

I was really quite chuffed that Circles was part of the list, it's possibly my favourite track.

Strangest moment was during Just A Phase near the start of the set. Just before the song, some girl threw her bra on the stage, so Mr Boyd wraps it over his head and sings the whole track with a C cup over each eye.

We also got (at Newcastle) a cover of the Spongebob Squarepants theme tune, with Brandon on guitar. And a cover of When Doves Cry. I prefer hearing their own tracks though!

Overall I enjoyed Wembley more, but it was a good night out anyway.

If anyone hasn't got it yet, go to www.incubusbootlegs.com and get the Live in Japan CD. It's only about £10 including delivery, and anyone who has seen them live recently will appreciate it.

then about 20 minutes on the solo stuff. jose' 10 minute drum solo was fucking amazing, with ben and brandon helping out. ben did a huge bass solo aswell, and so did mike. kilmore did some solo studd on the turntable too, it was so amazing last night. there was also a song i didn't even know, it was one of theirs, they didn't say what it was, and it may have been another new song, or another part to pantomime. it was a good song though, fast and energetic.

they finished the night off with Aqueous Transmission, everyone had their lighters out, and swaying back and for, an experience to remember forever.

i took some pics, here are some of my favourites.

Circles is the second track on Morning View - you must know it!!

That Cardiff setlist looks nice. Not too keen on Black Hole Sun but it would have been interesting. Newcastle got a cover of When Doves Fly (Prince) which dragged on a bit really.

I'm jealous of you with Aqueous Transmission!

Best set lists look to be the Hammersmith gigs. First night was all chilled as they played stuff like 11am and Echo. Second night was the heavy night, with stuff like Take Me To Your Leader!

a certain shade of green 1.26mb (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/incubliss/incubus/a certain shade of green.WMV)

a sick sad little world 2.96mb (http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/incubliss/incubus/sick sad little world.WMV)

sorry about the sound quality, for some reason, it wouldn't pick it up properly, just make that booming noise, which annoyed me severly.

they kicked off with megalomaniac, and i should have filmed aquoues transmission, but i was taking pictures. we got about 10 ft away, that's the closest we could get.

when here in my room came on, me and my friend tried to get to the front, we got about 10ft away, in the centre, but couldn't get any further, then they played Vitamin. my god, i was crushed like nothing else, right in the centre of the pit, i almost died :p

Great stuff once again.

I have some good pictures from the Wembley gig - most of them from about 2 rows from the front. They were sadly taken with a point and click disposable, so no zoom. There is no way that I can get them onto the computer though, short of taking a photo of the photos with a digital camera. Our scanner is old and decrepped and won't work with any of the computers.

:) I love Incubus, saw them on their ACLOTM tour in Brisbane. My first concert ever!

It took me a long time to warm up to this new album, I still think half of it is shit and the other half is cool but I just don't see how its supposedly going back to the days of S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

I've been on there a few times - didn't realise they had a Wembley bootleg. Is it from their most recent show there or the 2002 gig?

There are rumours that it will be included in an official bootleg CD, as they are realeasing 1 a month for the rest of the year. The Japan CD is worth having.

Hehe Are You In....

That song has some funny memories for me, most notably a drunken shag where I was having some difficulty "getting it in". That song in the background made us both quite amused and we ended up just laughing rather than shagging. Thankfully I'm not that bad when sober

Incubus was the first band whose music I really fell in love with, and therefore they will always be special to me.

(cheese.)

Anyway. They have this new song called Follow that's gonna be on the Halo 2 soundtrack, plus that 22 minute guitar odyssey which I couldn't goddamn download due to my shitty dial-up internet connection.

And wooohooo I went to their concert last March. Best night of my life. Oh, the memories. I hope I'd get to go to one of their gigs again.

I've always dreamt of having a small Incubus gig in a small venue with a small crowd, just enjoying the intimacy and the music. That would be awesome.

(and why not have such a gig with Muse, too? :) )

My love for Incubus has been rekindled.
:)

Just been listening to the new podcast they've made and it's great. Has a never before heard song on it (a mash up with Tupac Shakur), live clip of them singing the Spongebob Squarepants themesong haha, the live cover of the Prince song Let's Go Crazy (from reading 05) and the cover of Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden (played this at Cardiff when I saw them in 04). So i've just heard two covers they played at both times I saw them.

New album is well under way. They were saying about some song titles, "Dig, Oil & Water, Pendulous Threads, Punchdrunk" those are some fly about names. They were saying Dig is the heaviest song they've ever written. It's another step in a new direction apparently, some more ambience, more up beat songs, more lo-fi songs. I'm actually quite excited now.

Tomorrow I am going to listen to all of my Incubus albums. Every single song. It's gonna take all day I reckon.

From your song choices, I think you'd like the Morning View album.

My personal faves are S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself.
Summer Romance is a way saxayyy song. The crackling of vinyl, the bass and saxophone..

Over such a long time, it seems that Science, Morning View, and the Enjoy EP are all I listen to now. I only really listen to Sick Sad Little World, and Priceless from the new album.

Agreed on Summer Romance tho, one of the sexiest songs ever. You ever heard the Time Lapse Consortium version of A Certain Shade of Green? That's fuckin' sex in mp3 format.

I had two phases when I listened to all their albums constantly, haven't given them much of a listen of late though. I should when I'm over this current phase..

Also, I'm not sure why most fans dislike A Crow Left... I really like that one, perhaps more than Morning View.

Haven't listened to any Time Lapse Consortium material...had the intention to check them out but never got 'round to it :$

It's actually called A Certain Shade of Lounge aswell, on that recording. That's what they re-named it for, for the night.

Nah not really, but i'll upload another song now. No more Brandon vocals tho, the rest is instrumental. Really upbeat stuff.

I didn't think it was much cop. A lot of the songs didn't work musically, and sounded so awkward and out of place.

Beware! Criminal is the perfect example. Absolutely amazing intro, sounds like a really promising song. Great vocals, interesting riff, and then that horrible change at about 52 seconds. Blugh, I just found a lot of it really unprofessional sounding, and rushed.

Well, I do and I don't. I like the sound they had. Crow Left was something new when it came out, and though I like it, I feel it really wasn't their best. With a band like Incubus the chances are it WILL be something new, their sound evolves with every album. It's just my personal opinion that I liked the Make Yourself sound so much. I think if we're going through the list of Incubus love songs, Anti-Gravity should get a mention. Cos my GOD, that's such a tune. And I get all emotional when I hear I Miss You. :$

I love tracks like Drive, mexico, and Pardon me will always have it's special place cause it reminds me of my teens and it's the first incubus song I heard i believe.

Hmm, that's a toughie, but I'm inclined to agree. The Warmth is up there with the both of them though.

I LOVE The Warmth. I also really like Under My Umbrella and Mexico.

Incubus are in my opinion the greatest band ever. They are the ones that saved me from shit music when i was 13, science was out and i fell in love with it. Although since replacing Dirk with Ben Kenney on bass the sound has changed alot but even so they still sound amazing. Light grenades very sooon =]

These are my Bus tats too

Hmmmm, that's a copy of Brandon's. Looks pretty likes, but I dunno if it's sort of a shame that his isn't a one of a kind then. My bastard ex was gonna get the crows from Crow Left tattooed onto his hips. Would have looked good I reckon. But he's a bastard so I'm glad he didn't.

the main riff in that song is near identical to a mars volta song. that's really shocking.

I know fuck all about guitars, but there's only so many riffs to be made isn't there?

of course, but when they're so similar it's hard to ignore.
