Tbh though, the title of the new thread is annoying, and if someone new came in here and searched for a thread on the gig, they wouldn't know what the hell to look for.

It's an all-purpose thread! But we could keep this new one for stuff directly related to the gig---tickets, buses, etc, and the other as the meetup thread?

You really must join us, Kev! We've already got pub crawls (may be a bit too aptly named....), open-top bus tours, and the Guinness Storehouse tour all planned. Can't wait to see the faces of the Guinness people when 75 Musers of all ages and nationalities show up for the group tour, all wearing Muse shirts! Oh yeah, we're going to the gig too.....!

woa crazy horny!

i'm certainly considering it. i was def going to go then i realised how near it was to v fest, but i think i'm only off for the muse day to that so i might be able to do both, might have to make it a solo mission though so you kids will have to entertain me somewhat :D

i would hope so. cant wait for the rest of them either =D
it would be great if you could. i need a place to stay for this thing.
there about 4-5 of us going though.
and yes we are over 18. does anyone know about pit bands?
will they be given out in the line like the past few concerts ive been too
or is there a pit at all cause there wasnt one at The Who!!
I hail from Kilkenny. south-ish Ireland.
im planning on seeing if anyone is there the day before so i can stay first in the queue,
and if there are mega meet ups you can all hop up to me.
thats if ye havent done it before.
Think i might try and get a muse t-shirt and get my username on this printed on the

Hiya Aran, sent you a PM.
Have you been to Marlay Park before--was that where you saw The Who? (never got to see them perform live, but did meet Keith Moon back in the early 70's, what a madman!)
We're guessing there's some kind of Golden Circle with pit bands, so there will be lots of us queueing up early at the venue.
And ogula is planning on making special t-shirts for the gig, with maybe everyone's username on teh back, go see the other thread for the designs (maybe about page 35? damn thing moves too fast)

Someone in Ireland needs to contact the venue directly and find out about pit bands, golden circle, camera policy (never stopped me in the past, just need to know how sneaky I need to be....)----HINT HINT....

There is no way to contact the venue as it is owned by the local council, but i have emailed the promoter and I do know someone that works for the council, so I'll ask him to check it out if you like.

yes i have been there for The Who and Foo fighters. great place. quite big.
 your so lucky. they were all great back then. take robert plant for example.
blue grass? what in the hell man. anyway thats not to be discussed here.

well i went to a concert a while back and a guy jumped into the queue and told us to put out our wrists for pit bands (i got one)
im hoping they dont do that (unless he jumps in front of me again)
that way it could be first come to the venue first serve.

i dont think its possible to contact marlay park. directly anyhow.
maybe ticketmaster would know more. or MCD.

Congrats on the new username, Pip!

7AM sounds a bit extreme, but may be necessary. One variable we may not have considered: are there crazy Kasabian fans who are going to get there early? Can you imagine the horror of a GC filled only with Kasabian fans, who leave or are apathetic during Muse's set? Oh NOOOOOO!
I told my boys they need to come early with me but can go sleep under a tree somewhere; I'll be in the queue with the fun people!

Has anyone received their tickets yet?

so far they have apparently only mailed out the non-UK/Ireland people's tickets; I got mine over a week ago, they're lovely and even say "MEGALO" on them!

Will you be there, HJ?

Abolyss
12-05-2008, 06:33 PM
I will probably be there before 7am if my secret plans fall through.
usuallly the support band is the one no one moves around for and the main
act everyone goes crazy for.
if there are silly kasabian fans they may be drunk
by the time mus come on so they will party anyway.

wont be getting my ticket till about late june - early july methinks! :(

Yes, tis early I know but I can't bear the thought of spending all this money, travelling hundreds of miles then not being able to get anywhere near the front! I'm an early riser anyway

There are two entrances as far as i know. one is where the parking is.
and the people on foot enter at an entrance which is across from a shop. i think its spar.
the shop is on the left (depending on what side you come from)
and theres a slope going down to it. fairly modern looking building.
across from that is a long fence an theres an entrance there. queue up along the fence.
you might want to ask the people in the shop to hold some food for you as after the concert the shop will be packed with people buying stuff, theres a guy that works there who is really friendly (he gave me free food cause i didnt know what to get)
anywho. hope that helps. :D

Does it have a certain entrance on the ticket or what?

If any of you havent booked your flights yet, Ryan Air are having a sale at the moment. A lot of flights are either free or 1p, or under 5 once they have added taxes. Its only for certain flights and I think its mostly Tuesday and Wednesday flights. The sale ends Midnight tomorrow.

Just thought i'd say that my friend passed out on a Ryan air flight once since they pump the air with chlorine or something because they have so many changeovers so they aren't on the ground long enough to get fresh air in apparently:LOL: Anyone else been on a Ryan air flight before?

Or maybe I was just lucky to survive the whole business  Well, it isn't posh but considering the price I think it's acceptable. When I went back to Sweden after my stay I had loads of luggage, about twice as much as allowed, but the nice lady in the check-in desk just smiled and let my smelly bags pass :D

Ooookay I have no idea how I'm getting to Marlay Park and I'm only considering this now, as well as getting a place to stay, lol.

Anyone able to help? I'm getting there by train from Belfast, so a site where I can find a bus from a train station to Marlay Park would be rather nice...

Edit: The tags made me lol. I'd go mad if they played Darkshines though.

You will have no problem getting to Marlay from the city centre, as there a couple of regular buses as well as special return buses put on just for the gig.Where does the train leave you, Connolly or Heuston?

Ah, this is helpful, thank you! It looks like it will have to be Connolly train station, doesn't seem to be trains available here that go to Heuston.

I also need to know a bit about the accomodation available (I know some places have been booked out) and how near they are to Marlay Park or alternatively the train station itself I guess...

How many miles/how long it takes from centre to Marlay would be helpful.

Any hands?

You are much better off staying in the city centre, Marlay Park is out in the suburbs of south county Dublin and not really near anywhere. Connolly is about a 10 minute walk to where the special buses will go from and it will probably take about 30-40 minutes to the gig depending on traffic.
