i can hear the first note is a bend of the B string at 15th fret (bending up to the pitch of 17th) with E held at 12th.

the last note is also definitely a 14th fret on the D string. you should be able to work the rest out given that much

Yeah I agree, BUT we have about 15 or so threads that need stickying, like, The MOTP Effect thread, What order should my effects go in? and all of those. Because we get the same thing over and over, plus the Pictures of Gear and Banter threads too would be useful stickied. high volume, high gain, don't fret any strings and strike behind the nut. the E and A strings don't work too well, the rest should be ok unless you have string trees or something

Big request Kittens. I have another performance assignment due for after the holidays for Music Tech (hopefully this time I won't get marked down for god-knows-what-fucking-reason).

For this we have to do a performance with some form of visual accompaniment, so I'm probably going to be doing Supermassive Black Hole seeing as the live visuals are available on youtube.

Not exactly sure about the second part, but if I remember correctly the first part is just hammer ons on the 15th and 16th frets on various strings accompanied by +2 octave whammying.

When I first heard that I had to try it out on piano too cause it sounded so awesome. Even though I can't play piano. I just listened to what it sounded like he was playing and I'm pretty sure it's right. I'm not sure what he does on the left hand, but I play the bass line with my pinky and thumb (octave for each note): B E F# D, B E F# lower B. And then on the right hand I do a repeated pattern of : F# D B then G D B then A D B, then back to F# D B then G D B then F# D B.

that's how I play it, at least. It could be wrong, could be wrong (but it sounds alright) just getting the rhythm right is something you can easily toy around with.

I understand :p
The chords are actually the same as what he plays during the rest of the verse, but just higher on the neck(it's still Am, B, E, F, G).
This explanation is probably not clear at all, but whatever.

I play it starting on a C major in both hands, with a random rhythm, and then raise the highest note on the chord (the G) to a semitone above, G#. Return back to G, do that a few times, then raise both the G and E (to an F), return it, back to that, and then raise the bottom note (C) a semitone. The chord has changed to a C# major. Sounds confusing! Repeat this on chords getting higher and higher, I go to Eb, it may be different. I play it in different keys to jazz it up too. In the actual TaB, I believe (?) the first chord is D.

E--E---E--E--E--F---E---F--F Continue

I've never really played the chorus, I can't seem to make sense of it in the tab book (this is someone who is doing a music degree next year :facepalm: ) Although I've never looked at it in any detail.

I find that riff really difficult for my right hand, I still haven't sorted proper picking technique, I use far too many downstrokes which slows me down loads, especially cause I just play blues improve 70% of the time...

didn't know there was even an official tab book for the resistance :$ but as others have said in several threads around here, the official tab books aren't perfect anyway (and occasionally they're not even close). think the only one I've ever seen that's close to 100% is the tab book for a rush of blood to the head (LOLdplay), and that's only because I think the band actually helped produce it

I know the notes, I never get the pattern right but then that doesn't really matter as you can barely distinguish the individual picking pattern due to the effects applied.

The two chords played in the chorus exactly as Matt says "..and I won't, leave you falling...." are impossible for me to get right.

The wiki says that those two chords are Gm then A. That doesn't sound right to me. Anyone care to give it a go?
